Yes, call RACV and they will order you a taxi.

Source: Crashed this morning, road bike not rideable. Maxi Taxi home was there within 15 minutes, I had to pay $10 out of pocket via credit card directly to the cab driver. Great service (but I wish I didn't need to use it…)

  • Just purchased as a lapsed member. Thanks OP!

    • Glad your member is ok now. 🍆 Lol

  • Anyone tried using the RACV membership discount from this with Melbourne Airport parking?

Make sure you have a spare tube in case of flat tyre.
Had a call out today, first guy came and put wrong size tube and it went flat in 20 mins without using it. Called again, and second guy came and told they only stock 2 sizes and mine is not one among them.
So went and got some tubes and made a third call out to finally fix it.

I have Reid commuter bike purchaed from store.

3 call outs used out of 8 😢, and had to buy my own tube.

    • Should got tubeless

      • Can you please suggest a good budget brand

    • How is this preferable to just fixing it yourself? Seems like a lot of faffing around and time for a very simple issue.

  • I would be too embarrassed to ring roadside assistance and tell them I'm too knackered to ride home. Like I have never been so tired from riding that I couldn't complete my ride just by going slow.

    • Felt same, but after seeing uber fare to reach home, I called racv

      • I don't understand. Why would you incur an uber fare by riding home?

    • Trust me nobody cares. The operator at the other end is not judging you, they're just going through one of dozens of daily transactions.
If you're that self conscious, tell them you have a flat. Not that the cabbie cares or checks.
PS: I would never ask for a tube replacement. Don't want some cowboy messing with my bike. Get home and buy a tube from a bike shop for $12 or have some aliexpress spares for a couple of bucks.

      • Sorry never been so tired I couldnt ride home. Never will. Seems bizarre to me. I ride 30km+ at least 4x a week.
