India? Really
Whats the normal price? I dont see any discounts
Think they were like 24 or 26k but they can't offload them at that price due to competition
Just 8 iPhone 16 Pro = $20K with 10years warranty and you get a CAR! What a Deal!
How many Zunes is that?
How many used Samsungs?
Cheap for a reason.
I had the misfortune of renting one back in February, probably the worst car I have ever driven. it was honestly horrible.
only buy if you genuinely can't afford something better.+1. Luke Bona on Triple M basically said the same thing as you on his radio show.
But he never sleeps. What would he know 😏😂
What do the votes say?
What does the previous comments say?
After shipping, taxes and labour how much value is in a vehicle this cheap.
Literally the worst car I’ve ever driven. Who still uses a 4sp auto in 2024…
+1. I think this must be the last car left on the Australian market with a 4-speed?
Hi all.
I am now an expert on china, trump, patents, Elon, world economy, cost of living and a whole host of other topics. Thanks
But does anyone actually own this and have a review or recommendation?
This is a really good bargain price with warranty and I’m curious if I should buy. Need a car for the wife.
Buy the car and lose the wife. Some may consider that a Win!
They do not learn, they copy.
Why would someone reinvent the wheel? literally? Lmao
It's a car, they're all derivatives of each other…
Is this a comment on where the market is going?
The Excite as an EV is more than double the money at $45220 (in NSW).
The $24,000 price difference buys a lot of fuel!
At $2 per litre that's 12,000 litres.
At 8 litres per 100km that's 150,000km's of driving.The EV won't struggle going up a hill though.
Also, charging an EV (usually) isn't free.
and if that's your only comparison, you could chuck all that excess cash in an ETF, should be worth quite a lot more in 10 years.
Agreed …. on the charging not the ETF ;) but if you charge at home primarily the charging cost will only be a small fraction of the fuel cost …
For comparison, I drove a large 7 seater Nissan Patrol (5 people and a lot of luggage) from Sydney to Sunshine Coast which is 1052km. I filled my tank and arrived with a quarter of Diesel still left which meant it used $202.
Anyone know how much I could expect from a large electric?
I imagine you are going to get robbed to topup electricity somewhere at a not so friendly location where personally I’d rather not stay an hour or two? That said, it drinks like a thirsty barmaid when driving around town.
@Markusaus: for a fast DC charger you'll probably pay the same price per km range.
The benefit of an EV is that when you aren't using fast DC chargers, your charging is either free if you work from home or almost free ($3 per week)
Anyone know how much I could expect from a large electric?
If you do 1000Km trips with five people and luggage, then don't buy an electric car - you're going to need to stick with fossil fuel vehicles.
NSW price coming up as $25,963 am I missing something here?
I would definitely consider Mitsubishi ASX at this price point.
There is a quite active group of zs/zst owners on Facebook, so I would also suggest you join if purchasing
https://www.facebook.com/groups/2945843638973858/?ref=share&…I was able to grab an unused demo last month with the 10 years warranty (not 7), with diamond red paint, floor mats, full tank, floor mats premium plates for $20k in Sydney. The listed prices were more expensive then so I suggest you start at $19k with negotiations.
Had one of these for the day while my 4 got serviced recently. Quality of the build and interior is very impressive for a very cheap SUV. The engine is however woefully underpowered, and the thing changes gear more times than your heart beats (almost). Very annoying driving experience.
Rented one, if you change your driving style the gear changes settle down. Pretty common with SUVs like Mazda CX5.
If you drive them like sedans then the gear changes are terrible.
Higher spec has the turbo and cvt (combination could be bad for maintenance)
Wow never thought I would see these prices for a SUV post COVID. And the 10 year warranty is great.
I have done a test drive today. Here are my thoughts:
Pros
- really good interior space and leg room
- good practical boot space
- seats are reasonably comfortable with decent support
- interior parts don’t feel cheap and plasticky
- build quality seems ok
- quick play with the touchscreen display. Seems to have most of the expected features for this price point
- and speaking of price point, that sub $21000 price makes it quite compellingCons
- oh my it’s underpowered. I guess with a 1.5L 4 speed engine that’s not a shock. But still.
- there are a lot of hills, curves and speed humps on my test route. This car does not handle these well and it’s a rather bumpy and frustrating ride.
- from my driving position, I find the exterior rear view mirror on driver side blocking some of my vision, especially with T junctions and roundabouts. Very noticeable for me but your experience may varyDespite the less than ideal driving experience I would still be considering this car, because of the price point and it should be competent for short trips within metro areas. Would love to hear from those of you who have driven or own this car and see what you think.
frustrating ride
I would still be considering this carWhy not spend 10-15k and get a nice used car? What is the fascination with new? As mentioned several times the warranty is next to useless.
He can easily pickup a 5 year old used Corolla with 100,000km for $20k.
Thanks. My dad just picked up his ZG on Friday. $18.9k drive away, brand new car with 10 yr warranty. No complain at all at this price point.
Thanks OP for the post. Certainly looks like a good price and deal.
do you know if this model can tow a jetski and sometimes small boat? my current cx5 has around 400nm torque diesel model, i wonder how much torque on a 1.5 petrol
Sure if you want to piss off everyone driving behind you. These things are hopeless at accelerating and having the extra weight will make it even worse. Only make 84kW/150Nm. Your CX5 is a way better car overall. My mate had one of these MG's for a month while his 2020 Civic was being repaired after a not at fault accident and he couldn't wait to get his car back. He's not a car guy at all and said the MG would take a couple of seconds to respond to throttle inputs which was especially dangerous when he was trying to enter roundabouts etc.
It must have been damaged - these things are definitely slow but there two seconds delay sounds like a fuel delivery or timing fault
I test drove one during the week and it had the same issue.
It was the only noticeably bad thing about the car during the test drive. I thought it was just how the model behaves.
It only had 400km on it too so wasn't from overuse.
Things have come a long way for this brand since 2020
Does drive away include all road costs?
Not comprehensive insurance, bt that is to be expected.
Not comprehensive insurance,
Not sure why you even mention this as it isn't an ORC item or even a requirement to owning a car.
Not everyone is as knowledgeable as you, I hear multiple
Complaints on owners forums. I did state “as to be expected”. Many people have not purchased a new car in 20 years, lots of new terminology such as on road costs
can i use it for uber?
Despite the low price I've never seen one used for uber.
this was our rental in Cairns, worst car ever I have driven. Ended up exchanging for another make car. plastic box.. felt unsafe..
my dad just bought one, $18.9k drive away. brand new.10 yr warranty. No complaint at all at this price levels
How ?
What’s the end game with that 10 year warranty considering these breakdown every year and have no resale value.
If these break down every year then you're basically saying the Australian consumers are stupid to even let these imported into the country.
Certainly not like your toilet paper that breaks down every time you wipe your ass and hoping to resell them.
any decent 7 seaters?
I bought one of these in September when it was posted on here last time. I was actually looking at (you guessed it..) second hand Toyota Corolla's which were around the $20k-25k price but I stumbled on the post during my daily browse. Had a chuckle that I found a car through OzB. Next is to find a house on here!
Regarding the car: It's good enough for our family. We're not towing things or going anywhere that requires a top car. I agree that the engine is probably underpowered but I found it runs much better in Sport mode (don't read into the name) because it seems allow higher revs before changing gears. In Drive mode it seems to want to get to the highest gear as quick as possible, which sometimes causes the gearbox to shift it up and down trying to find to right spot. This happens at around 60km/h.
Besides that, it's a good basic small SUV with good enough quality interior, good enough ride quality. I'm not a car guy though, for me it a tool to get from point A to B.
Any cash back or codes to make this cheaper like new member?
But it's not.
