$6.50 Event Cinemas Movie Tickets, $13.50 Hobbit HFR 3D, $25 Gold Class Tickets + More

tixeachitempromo650

Update
I think the code has been fixed now
Also promo650 has been removed from the codebase for alot places

However this deal is still valid as you can still view the list of available codes in the source code. The "tixeachitem" code was simply an easy way to display them

An alternate way would be:

Open a javascript console in ur browser(f12 in Chrome/IE, ctrl+shift+K in firefox, then click on 'console') and type:

$('.tixeachitem').show()

and hit enter, all of the promo's will be shown just as if you entered tixeachitem

i think event just removed the codes temporarily while they apply some sort of fix. i highly doubt theyd stop offering promo codes permanently

Edited to be less confusing:

At the screen where you select the number of tickets,
on the right hand side is an option to enter a promo code
enter PROMO650 and a new option will appear for $6.50 movie tickets
Select the number of tickets you want and continue

This price is for standard sessions only, you have to pay extra for vmax, HFR and 3D, but as someone else pointed out, its cheaper than buying regular 3d VMAX, example below:

THIS CODE WORKS FOR 3D HFR of the Hobbit (4k ultra high definition, 3D, 48 frames per second session) - $13.50 (regular price $25.50)
YOU MUST BOOK 4K Movies using this link
http://www.eventcinemas.com.au/vmax-4k

For all other sessions:

Enter tixeachitem in the promo code section to unlock ALL the codes in available
credit: escimojoe http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87704#comment-1151381

Enter the above code to unlock all available ticket prices for each session type you choose (i.e. gold class, standard, vmax etc) just search through the newly unlocked lists to find the cheapest tickets
voila!

example if you wanted to watch Skyfall in 4k ultra HD, the normal price of gold class is $28, the code unlocks gold class for $25
for a regular session of skyfall in 4k ultra the price is $22.50, the code unlocks the $6.50 ticket (but it adds $4 premium for being a 4K session for a total of $10.50), but you will notice i also unlocks Rydges loyalty web, which is $10 (50cents cheaper)

here are some noteworthy codes:

enter "herald" or "goldclass25" for $25 gold class tickets
beforedark - no idea what this is for but it says: "GC Gift Pack Before 5pm - $96.75"
rydges - some standard sessions and possibly vmax sessions work with this code for $10 tickets

Credit goes to user Forgot69 for the following code:
rydges1 - Unlocks $13 Moonlight Cinema in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne

Enjoy!
giggidy

edit you need to pay the usual $1.1 online booking fee as well

Here is how i got the code:
removed how i got the codes so Event cinemas will find it harder to close the hole

TL:DR version:

  1. enter the code tixeachitem at the page where it asks you for a code

  2. select the cheapest ticket types

  3. ???

  4. Profit (or in the case of ozbargain, impulse purchase)

  • +1

    Awesome deal. Very Bond like.

  • +11

Open a javascript console in ur browser(f12 in Chrome/IE, then click on 'console') and type:

    $('.tixeachitem').show()

and hit enter, all of the promo's will be shown.

Very bad to put this stuff on the client side lol.

    • Just out of curiosity how did you know this? Are you a web developer?

      • A developer who sometimes delves into web stuff, yes.

        • -2

Yet stupid enough to post it here without thinking about the consequences

    • Before the last site update, unencrypted ticket pricing was client-side…crazy.

  • +40

I'm pretty sure if you type in tixeachitem in the promo code it will show all available promos or at least some of them :)

Edit - I can confirm this works.

    • +1

true ozbargainer goes to woolies and microwaves it at home first and brings it to the movie

      • My wife .. Italian .. drinks, sandwiches .. sushi .. our cinema expeditions are very catered affairs .. but I love the idea of finding a microwave at a restaurant nearby to do the pop corn .. (might as well have it hot) !!!

        • +3

Drop into a Harvey Norman / Good Guys and conduct yourself a little self-demonstration by microwaving popcorn to assess the merits of the appliance you might buy…

        • +3

Or go to the parents room in the shopping centre - they usually have a microwave.

        • +2

          LOL

      • 'triple button explosion' popcorn from the supermarket is the bomb!!

  • Awesome stuff - just bought me and the kid tickets to 3D Hobbit - HFR. $12.50 each.

  • Gold Class….. Ta thanks OP your a champion!!!!

  • Just booked two tickets for skyfall for next wednesday. I really hope they honour this deal, OP where are these codes coming from?

  • man, literally just came home from watching Skyfall when I saw this! Oh well, booked tickets for my parents so thanks!

  • +1

Apparently this has been working since July.

    • +10

      and you didnt share?

      • +4

It has been working since July (possibly longer). Problem is when you share it to public space everyone finds out about it, including the affected party (in this case Event Cinemas). It then gets fixed.

Now no one can use it.

Ideally this should have been spread by word of mouth/less public space and controlled so it wouldn't reach the ears of people that would take measures to stop it.

        • Wow, you sound like an ethical guy.

        • +4

Exactly, by not posting it, other codes like rydges stayed functioning. Now, it's all gone. Now have a think about which was better in the long term.

  • +2

This is like hitting ILM in Wolfenstein.

  • Damn it, I just booked my tickets to The Hobbit yesterday :(

  • +2

My only worry is that I'll book tickets for Boxing Day, and then when I arrive at the cinema they'll make up some excuse about why my tickets have been cancelled…

    • i doubt that…

    • I though that too… paid with PayPal. ;)
