$6.50 Event Cinemas Movie Tickets, $13.50 Hobbit HFR 3D, $25 Gold Class Tickets + More

tixeachitempromo650

Update
I think the code has been fixed now
Also promo650 has been removed from the codebase for alot places

However this deal is still valid as you can still view the list of available codes in the source code. The "tixeachitem" code was simply an easy way to display them

An alternate way would be:

Open a javascript console in ur browser(f12 in Chrome/IE, ctrl+shift+K in firefox, then click on 'console') and type:

$('.tixeachitem').show()

and hit enter, all of the promo's will be shown just as if you entered tixeachitem

i think event just removed the codes temporarily while they apply some sort of fix. i highly doubt theyd stop offering promo codes permanently

Edited to be less confusing:

At the screen where you select the number of tickets,
on the right hand side is an option to enter a promo code
enter PROMO650 and a new option will appear for $6.50 movie tickets
Select the number of tickets you want and continue

This price is for standard sessions only, you have to pay extra for vmax, HFR and 3D, but as someone else pointed out, its cheaper than buying regular 3d VMAX, example below:

THIS CODE WORKS FOR 3D HFR of the Hobbit (4k ultra high definition, 3D, 48 frames per second session) - $13.50 (regular price $25.50)
YOU MUST BOOK 4K Movies using this link
http://www.eventcinemas.com.au/vmax-4k

For all other sessions:

Enter tixeachitem in the promo code section to unlock ALL the codes in available
credit: escimojoe http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87704#comment-1151381

Enter the above code to unlock all available ticket prices for each session type you choose (i.e. gold class, standard, vmax etc) just search through the newly unlocked lists to find the cheapest tickets
voila!

example if you wanted to watch Skyfall in 4k ultra HD, the normal price of gold class is $28, the code unlocks gold class for $25
for a regular session of skyfall in 4k ultra the price is $22.50, the code unlocks the $6.50 ticket (but it adds $4 premium for being a 4K session for a total of $10.50), but you will notice i also unlocks Rydges loyalty web, which is $10 (50cents cheaper)

here are some noteworthy codes:

enter "herald" or "goldclass25" for $25 gold class tickets
beforedark - no idea what this is for but it says: "GC Gift Pack Before 5pm - $96.75"
rydges - some standard sessions and possibly vmax sessions work with this code for $10 tickets

Credit goes to user Forgot69 for the following code:
rydges1 - Unlocks $13 Moonlight Cinema in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne

Enjoy!
giggidy

edit you need to pay the usual $1.1 online booking fee as well

Here is how i got the code:
removed how i got the codes so Event cinemas will find it harder to close the hole

TL:DR version:

  1. enter the code tixeachitem at the page where it asks you for a code

  2. select the cheapest ticket types

  3. ???

  4. Profit (or in the case of ozbargain, impulse purchase)

VIC is shit out of luck for hobbit HFR

    • +3

I'd bitch too but people in WA and TAS might feed me to the wolves! They miss out on stacks more!

  • Boom. 4 tickets to the Hobbit 3D Vmax purchased. Christmas gifts for the family done.

  • If only I knew when I was going to be back in Brisbane after Christmas/New Year…

HFR, what the heck? high frame rate?

since when did they get hfr and 4k movies at event?

    • Since December 26, 2012.

      • Skyfall is HFR/4K in George St, NSW, now.

  • -4

HFR? Like it you would be able to tell the difference, it's a projected image, not a tv.

    • "640K ought to be enough for anybody"

    • I saw the 4k Sony TV in Japan.. Its an amazing diference!

Its literally twice the information on the screen than Full HD

      • HFR is the high frame rate. Most of the cinemas will be showing it in 1080p just at 48fps, from what I can tell.

      • Its literally twice the information on the screen than Full HD

Four times the information in fact — the resolution is doubled in both dimensions.

        • FHD is 2million pixels (2k) this is 4k so that's double in my book

        • I stand corrected.. I didnt know the actual resolution :/

        • FHD is 2million pixels (2k) this is 4k so that's double in my book

4K is 8 million pixels, so that's four times.

2K and 4K refer to the horizontal resolution, but the vertical resolution is of course doubled as well.

        • Thanks for that I thought the 'k' ment the number of pixels.. as 2k is 2million, logically one would think 4k is 4million. Thanks for the clarification

        • -1

          No, you're wrong again.

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilo-
Kilo- (symbol: k, lowercase) is a unit prefix in the metric system denoting multiplication of the unit by one thousand. (not million)

        • -1

Gees.. I already acknowledged I was wrong hence why I wrote 'I thought'

          Are you bored or something?

    • You can't tell the difference between 24 fps and 48 fps?
Maybe you should go get your eyes checked mate.

Amazing how reasonably priced tickets sell. I wonder where else in life this might apply, eh Hollywood?!

Good on ya mate, thank you! Cant upvote enough

  • +1

I really hope they don't patch this.

  • +3

    un-freakin-believable! thanks OP

stack this with those 25% off gift cards Event were selling recently, and you're essentially getting tickets for $4.88 (minus booking fee) haha.

  • +5

Thanks OP - just got myself and the family for the a couple of movies

Kinda makes me wonder if piracy would really be such a big problem if they could just leave these prices all the time.

    • thep***tebay was down last night, so had to resort to this code to get the next cheapest way to get tickets

The session picker states what fancy options your session has. You don't have to use the link if your session already states 4k / HFR.

That link only shows such sessions

  • +4

Shame there is only crap on besides skyfall and upcoming hobbit. They will patch this soon

Buying tickets in the morning .. and planning to use some of my $40 gift card bought for $30 … It just seems mean now. I'm paying less than when I was a kid .. when I used to sneak into the movies.

To tell you the truth, i have known this for awhile.. worked out the tixeachitem code last year by checking the html code. Considered posted it here, but felt that it might get back to eventcinemas and then get fixed/prevented from being used.

Have used promo650 multiple times though.. no probs.

    • +11

You should be banned from OzBargain.

      • +3

Well what do you know.. It has now been fixed/removed.
Good thing i didn't post here a year ago.. would have missed out on multiple cheap movies.

        And now everyone misses out.

    • +1

I used to be an ozbargainer like you, but then i took some generosity to the knee

      • A few people got cheap tix… and now all the hundreds of people that were using codes get majorly screwed and having to go back to getting ripped off with expensive movie tickets.

Generosity? This post has been devastating for many people.

All these people buying tickets to the hobbit in v-max. Are you going to Tuggerah just to see it? Or Chemside in Queensland? Because those are the only two options… Maybe they took down the rest? Oh well, it was that or nothing.

  • +1

    Awesome find.
Shame about lack of 3D cinemas in VIC :(

    • +1

      It's a scam!
Edit: the website is fake. When you touch 'Home' button, it links you to the same register site. It's not some sort of the Financial report at all.

  • Thanks OP!

  • +2

Can't believe how much you guys normally pay for tickets.

My local cinema (rural nsw) regular prices are $12 for an adult ticket and $15 for 3D adult ticket. Sure we will probably have to wait years for them to upgrade to a 4k projector but no way would I pay that much just to watch a movie.

    • Normal 3d is about those prices (a bit cheaper)

the prices youre looking at $25.50 are for hfr which is new, normal tickets are never this high

  • The Oracle has spoken :)
Countdown now begins for the Neos before Smith catches up …

  • This was nuked last night I still can't checkout tickets this morning. Is this actually still working for anyone. Tixeachitem is invalid but promo650 is working. But it still gives error page upon payment

    • Still working fine for me. tixeachitem.

  • Thanks OP just bought two tickets to the hobbit for $15!!

  • +1

Still works here at Chermside :-) they also haven't removed it from the source code

  • Confirmed it is only garden city which has errors

    • unfortunately, i was trying for garden city like you. Should have just tried a different cinema and now i missed out altogether.

  • Macquarie NSW no worky.

EDIT: wait, it only fails for 3D Wreck-It Ralph this Sunday 'coz it's a special advance screening. Everything else still works fine.

  • Bought six tickets for the family, using the $6.50 option. No other levy for 4K, 3D, or vmax was applied. Total $45.60 for six tickets including online booking fee.

    Did I do something wrong?

    • Yeah, you probably chose a session that isn't any of those things. Did you pick a session that specifically said 3D Hobbit (HFR)?

      • I picked them using the specific 4K event cinemas webpage, and it seemed to say 3D and HFR as well. It's the 2pm session at chermside, can anyone else confirm?

    • +1

      was that not the right price? each ticket is 6.50 + 1.10 = 7.60 x 6 tickets = $45.60.. =S

  • Bugger me, what a deal, but sadly nothing to watch yet… I have to give this a positive!

  • promo650 no longer valid only tixeachitem works. That's for Macquarie NSW

Sadly returns cheapest @ 2 for $18, which means $9 per ticket.

And there's nothing good to watch atm

    • +1

Looks like we've been rumbled. Lucky I bought my advance Les Miz ticket last night.

    • you can try different session times, the code unlocks different discounts depending on the session type

  • tixeachitem works..

chose the $12 VMAX adult tix component whatever that is.. =\
good deal for vmax 3D viewing of the Hobbit

    • Don't like your chances!!

Note that when you use the reveal script this option appears but the family ticket disappears.

So this is the Adult part of a family ticket and will likely only be accepted at the box-office together with the other three+ tickets in a famiy ticket (incl min 2 or 3 chidren tickets.

  • Brisbane City Skyfall 4k now does not work both codes garden City not working

    EXPIRED for brisbane maybe

  • Mine is not working for says voucher is not valid. Am I doing something wrong??
Edit: I think it has expired :((

  • -6

Both tixeachitem and PROMO650 doesnt work anymore (at least for the movies that I tried).

    • +2

To all those who voted neg on my comment, I DIDN'T give a negative vote on the deal because of above comment (codes not working).

I voted negative much later when I commented here:
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87704?page=2#comment-115255…

Due to probable misunderstanding, my negative vote on the deal was revoked because 6 users negged my above comment. :(

  • guys try different cinemas as they have been expiring one after the other
example last night garden city was nuked but only up until 20 mins ago brisbane city worked

  • GONE-SKEEZ!

Lucky i got in 5 mins before they fixed it..

It was prob zedg who reported it and killed the party =(

  • It's quickly being nuked from a bunch of cinemas. A few of the NSW ones I've tried have stopped working (Burwood, Parramatta, Top Ryde) and some only have limited working ones (Macquarie)

    • -1

George Street and Castle Hill gone too.

  • Not working for Castle Hill cinemas either. :(

  • =( i was just about to purchase my tickets to see rise of the guardians.

  • Ozbargained. Chermside gone too.

  • Managed to get Skyfall for next Sunday + Les Mis tickets for 23rd Dec … wanted to get Hobbit just now but it is expired :(

Kudos to escimojoe & furythree !!!

  • Important Info

If you dont want to experience the Hobbit in low res of 2 megapixel and would like to see the 8 MP 4K version
I am on hold to Chermside and they are going to let me know if 4K will be played on any other day than boxing day

According to the Event Cinema 4k Website only Chermside and some crappy place in NSW have 4K ONLY on boxing day

I will repost with updated information when the projectionist informs me as staff is confused

    • Let us know what they say, because the web site is confusing. Are there really no sessions at Chermside (or anywhere) that are both HFR and 4K?

      • Yes I am still waiting. There is mass confusion with one worker asking me 'What is 4k?'
Also I booked a 4k Nfc 3D but not a VMAX 4k 3d and as you said they never specify if it is 24f or 48 HFR. I don't understand if City and Garden City are showing Skyfall all the time at 4K why they are not showing Hobbit at 4k aside from Boxing day. (unless the website is not correctly updated)

  • +3

any luck for brisbane? can't believe they tookit down so quick :( and i'm devastated that rydges is not working anymore either. should never have put these codes up.

  • expired at my local too… good while it lasted…

  • +3

Damn codes do not work anymore.

sucks for the people that were using the rydges code even.

I will have to make due with my $8 tickets

  • Does anyone know if the book of 10 movie vouchers are discounted or is this deal applicable only to tickets and not books of 10 tix? Thanks.

    • +1

It was only for direct bookings online. Vouchers are handled via a different site.

  • r the codes still working for anyone?
