  • Are you in India?

  • All these yes/no questions and no +ve for the deal?

    • yes

      • Haha

      • That is what I would have been doing.

    • +1

Ok now I am actually surprised as well, a 500GB SSD Ultrabook for less than $1300 has 8+ votes??? If you haven't voted for this deal can you let us know what you would like to see instead?

      • do a windows 8 tablet with stylus

        • Sure, but that is besides the point, just because you may not want this particular deal doesn't mean it is not a good deal. That is the whole point of the voting system as far as I can see for people who watch this site religiously to be able to quickly give everyone who may not pay as much attention feedback on whether a deal is worth it or not.

Watching this system over the last few months very closely, it seems that most people don't bother to vote on deals unless they themselves would buy it. Also the negative votes are used way too sparingly. If the system were working as expected then a lot more deals would get voted negative this doesn't seem to happen nearly as much as it should.

This is coming from an outside observer in the sense that I never vote on deals (except the LTS deal as that was the right thing to do)

        • This is coming from an outside observer in the sense that I never vote on deals

Why not? My guess is that most people don't want to vote unless they are sure it's a good deal

        • I don't vote because I am a Rep, and I think it would be bad form to vote on other vendors deals. I may be wrong in that interpretation in which case I am happy to vote I usually have a pretty good idea whether something is a good deal or not.

        • Negative votes are used sparingly because you have to write a comment when you neg, whereas you only need to be signed in to vote positively

        • I think that is still a good policy you should have to justify a neg, but I guess making it harder also means a lot fewer people will bother to do it…

      • I m looking for 15" ultra book with 500 gig SSD :)

      • Samsung Series 9 15 inch, 256gb SSD, please!

  • Will you answer "No" to this question? Please don't lie =)

  • looking for an ultrabook.. would this be a good deal? not much good ultrabook deal going on lately..

    • Depends on what you need. If you need a lot of storage and an SSD then I would say this will be the best deal at the moment. If you are ok with a 500GB standard drive there are other options out there, HP for example which are cheaper.

Price to performance though you will struggle to beat this deal.

      • I dont need a lot of storage.. I just need need a laptop that is light ( less than 2 kg , hopefully around 1.5 ), fast, can play light - semi medium game ( my gf likes to play some sims 3 ), and hopefully has a long-lasting life ( looking to use the laptop for daily use for next 3-4 years ). Use mainly to watch movies ( connect to the tv using hdmi ), play light games, work stuff, browse and do some microsoft-office related stuff..

this ultrabook is definitely one of the laptops im considering right now.. btw if you dont mind which HP you are talking about rep?

This is the best entry level ultrabook available right now by a fair margin. If you want to use it for the next 3-4 years though it will struggle with new video formats that will be coming out in the next 1-2 years.

        • will keep looking and this is definitely an option.. will this deal available only for today or while stocks last? btw, i was trying to access your website and got malware alert.

          Danger: Malware Ahead!
Google Chrome has blocked access to this page on flingshot.com.au.
Content from secure.shappify.com, a known malware distributor, has been inserted into this web page. Visiting this page now is very likely to infect your computer with malware.

        • That is very strange, shappify is an app developer for the platform we use. I am 99% certain they are not a malware distributor.

        • Searching for shappify on Google shows Google labelling the entire domain that "may harm your computer". Hopefully they get this resolved soon it certainly does not make your shop look good.

        • We just disabled the app until they get it sorted out. If you are still getting these notifications please let us know.

  • Your at home in sydney

  • I'm after a touchscreen Win8 ultrabook (Sony Slider 11, Asus Taichi, etc). Is it possible to have a deal on that, Rep?

    • At the moment it is pretty hard to even get the touchscreen stuff, so a deal is pretty unlikely right now. The Taichi for example is not even going to be released till January now it looks like.

      • No worries. Thanks.

  • any good deal on 14" or 15" with 500 gig SSD? how many days it takes to delivery to Melbourne (3122).

    • Sorry the 15in model takes an msata drive and we don't have access to them yet, if they are even available. Plus the price would be shocking.

  • After ultrabook with 15 inch screen.

Samsung warranty service in Australia is worse than appalling. You have been warned.

    • +7

Luckily you don't have to deal with Samsung unless you want to. Flingshot is responsible for making sure that any warranty issues are taken care often promptly and to the satisfaction of the customer. A responsibility we take very seriously.

      • +1

weird auto-correct there, should read "taken care of promptly"

      • +1

That is why I trust you more than any other company. I really like in the way you handle the warranty claims to the satisfaction of the customer.

  • Singapore?

    • Comp was over a while ago, check the main post.

  • Is that the 12g + 250 normal drive hybrid?

    • +1

There is no hybrid drive, just the 250GB SSD drive. There is no real need for the hybrid drive anyway as it is actually slower than a sata ssd.

  • Bought! Thanks :)

  • Is your 64GB Lexar JumpDrive S73 USB 3.0 Flash Drive going to be on sale soon?

  • Will you have discount on Asus UX31A-R5006H ?? Really want to pick one from Asus Ultrabook series.

  • It's been a month since this was posted - is this still available. Your website shows stock still available.

    • We actually ended up getting some more stock a few weeks ago so yes we have about 10 units left.
