Sunscreen is quite expensive at its normal price. I buy Coles brand sunscreen lotion. It used to cost around $2.70 for 100ml, and this year is $3.99 for 100ml. Still much cheaper than paying $10/100ml. SPF30+, Australian made, and 15c donated to the Australian Cancer Society per sale.
SPF30 blocks 97% of UV radiation, SPF50 blocks 98%. The difference is trivial but just reading the label makes consumers think the latter is almost twice as good.
SPF30 allows 1/30 of UV radiation and blocks 96.6667%, not quite 97% :-)
From another viewpoint SPF50 lets through 40% less UV than SPF30.
I do agree that SPF30 is enough protection though.
I wonder why the Cancer Council sunscreen is so expensive? In fact all their stuff is pretty pricey.
They seem to want you to Slip, Slop, Slap and Pay up too.
