they never do that with computer, especially parts

  • +3

Most of the time Computer wholesalers shut down between Christmas and the first week of January anyway. Any stores open won't be getting new stock in.

  • +26

I reckon the whole 'boxing day sales' in Au is a joke. Get disappointed every year :/

    • +1

i feel that to some stuff was cheep in pre christmas sales.

    • +5

Just remember a "sale" is designed to increase demand and push people over their price hurdles.

Thing is that BD Sales are now very well known to the general public and therefore flock to stores. There is actually heightened demand and therefore it would actually be inefficient for them to sell heavily discounted goods.

Shops should and do have sales during extremely quiet periods in order to generate revenue they might not have secured.

We as ozbargainers know the real bargains happen during the year. That's why we read this site everyday and not only during post-Christmas

  • +6

How about making this the Boxing Day Deals Thread?

  • +13

Boxing Day sales in Australia (to the limited extent I've seen)= Rather average discounts in department stores, with dozens of folk, dripping in perspiration and desperation grabbing at very limited numbers… Sod that, I'll take my chances that the good folk at Oz Bargain will put up an incredible deal on any item I want later in the year :D

    • +1

Precisely! Also, to get the true deals, ship it from Amazon/other places that do proper sales.

      • +7

hehe, I got hooked on OzBargain thanks to an Amazon UK deal… My web browsing habits haven't been the same since.

  • +7

the sales at myers and david jones are just like their usual sales they have every second week. waste of time!!

  • We've converted this thread into a Boxing Day sales thread. If you know of any sales, let us know in the comments.

    • +1

would you able to add this to the front page like the christmas gift guide so it's easier to find?

      • Done. Extra credit if someone can guess where the picture was taken (should be easier than Hawaiian Santa).

"We are trying to collect all the good Boxing Day sales. If you know of any decent Boxing Day deals, please either (1) submit them as a deal or leave a comment with a link. Most sales will be announced on Christmas."

Posts like these are the reason why Ozbargain is the best community for aussies on the internet right now. The co-operation by bargain savvy people and mods, humor, and the surprisingly few number of trolls on this board.

    Good job, duneknight.

      that's the christmas spirit!

all the retailers, online and bricks and mortar have been advertising and slashing so aggressively in the last couple of months that it's making these sales look very underwhelming.

  • +1

Looks like all suburban retailers closed today. Only major CBD stores open today (boxing day)

Just came back from Millers quite a number of clothings were $3 each. The queue was very long (outside the shop) as there was only one cash register. Bought 20 outfits in total for $60.

    • Which Millers? Is this at all stores? Any nice dresses?

      • I was at Redbank Plaza. I am not sure if it was all stores. I think the dresses were $16.95. I bought a pair of jean, 2 work pants, 3 casual jackets, a few work tops and a few casual tops. Most of them were long & 3/4 sleeve tops more suitable for cooler weather.

        • Thanks. I'll take a look.

  • Godfreys have plenty on sale too - http://www.godfreys.com.au/on-sale-now

  • Cotton on have a good sale on, accessories under $5, most $1 or $2, with free shipping over $50. I bought about 20 items (including hats, shoes, shirts, belts, bags, scarves, iPhone cases etc) for just over $50. Site is http://www.cottonon.com.au
