  • Anyone use this for low light? Good for early morning sunrise? fisherman here.(Compared to equivalent priced action cams)

Yeah this larger sensor made a pretty decent jump.

The ISO noise in these is amazingly handled, set thr limit 1 below max.

Then, choose the shutter based on what you're doing.

Limit it to 1/200 if you intend to walk with it, then brighten in post.

1/100 if you're occasionally moving with it.

And if the camera is stationary, you can get away with letting it go 1/50.

  • are these good for motorcycle use?

also $348 on amazon, might be better if you are prime user as they basically have lifetime refunds

    • What is lifetime refund?

      • +2

they don't actually have a lifetime refund lmao but their customer support is very nice and generous one can say, but it depends if you're a "valued customer I guess". One of my viofo dash cameras that I bought ages ago was out of warranty and broke for no reason, viofo didn't do anything but amazon just gave me a full refund

Noticing a few jacked up prices, for example DJI Mini 2 SE fly more combo.

  • Worth spending more to get Action 5, do your own research. I chose it for the battery life. Had a GoPro it uses the same mount types, so you can reuse most accessories.

    • +1

50% higher battery life, but lost the ability to do H264, and has a 10MBps lower max bitrate in h265.

      About 50% more cost.

Batteries for the 4 are cheap enough for me to keep the better video I think.

      • Hmmmm, interesting points. I paid $450 for mine. So the question is, for another $130 is it worth it for …

        DJI has 40MP, 120fps, 1/1.3inch sensor vs
        GPH13 27MP, 60fps, 1/1.9inch sensor …

So DJI would handle low light better and dynamic range (13.5 stops). DJI is waterproof up to 20m, while GoPro handles 10m without housing.

I personally can't see the difference in 10MBps lower but rate, as not having to change batteries mid dive/activity IMO is worth investing in new tech.
