thanks so much mate this is really useful! cheers
So does flashing require taking it apart to get at the board inside ?
Just having a quick look at one of the ones I bought there doesn't seem to be an easy way in. :)
@renza how has your experience been with the lamp in esphome instead of tuya?
got mine, its ok for $10 but I would have been very pi$$ed if I had spent $49.
It absolutely sucks, disconnects when I try to change brightness and just randomly doesn't work. Definitely returning it.
manual operation is super buggy but its seems to be working ok with the app and Alexa - you just need to make sure that its plugged in all the time to not go offline. I might keep it for sometime but then return - have 365 days return policy with OnePass :)
SO mine cancelled / refunded after 10 day time, placed my order straight after it was posted on here & feeling quite let down.
Can you order again? If so give it a try again and again, Kmart order system in shocking. I bought another one and got refunded 3 times then 4th time went through and shipped.
Thanks Op bought four
Can’t recommend this even at $10 I’m afraid
Rubbish light output (colour are not vivid at all)
Terrible battery life - that’s even if you can get it to charge, it seems to be very picky with which cables it will charge with
Cheap build quality
Noticeable coil whineAvailable for delivery - at least in Qld. Stock still available at some stores.
Received 2 ordered on 4/1, delivered free with OnePass.
Love them. Ordered more today.Worked with no noise, no problems.
365 day OnePass change of mind return if get bored with it. (Keep box)
what's your use case? I'm trying to use it as a monitor ambient light but it's not bright enough
Definitely a stretch of the imagination to promote this as an "Ambient Lamp"!!!
My use:
On manual - placed 2 set to music mode near Alexa streaming music in bathroom. Much more effective in a small space. So not using for lighting (not very bright for that & not my intended use). But interesting lighting effect to music.
Operating 1 is not very visually effective with music. But more is. Each can be set to different colours & responds differently to sound. (Keep pressing the music mode button.)
Makes for a better experience relaxing in bath. Puts a smile on my face. I like my 'disco' baths!
Haven't explored other uses yet. Only received days ago. So not even connected to app yet.
Very pleased @$10 each.
Picked up 4 of these when the deal first dropped.
Tried to order 4 more online a couple of days ago and just got an email that order was cancelled.
Was able to place order for delivery 7 days ago. That meant stock showed available somewhere in my State.
Placed 2 orders for 1 each for delivery. 1 cancelled, 1 still "preparing order". Expect will be cancelled
Some stores still still show stock…
Visited store today showing stock. Staff checked… 7 on their system. But none found. Either stolen?, returned faulty stock yet to be sent to supplier, etc. But no one will remove from system.
Was told, managers are more interested in moving new stock on to shelves, than resolving "phantom" stock issues. It's expensive to search for stock that may not exist, which can't be sold. No one is rewarded for doing that.
Its a known problem with all stock inventory systems.
3 more arrived Friday
ordered 2 more now.
Some are likely to be returned stock - will check for faults & return as faulty so not sold again.
Do you need to keep the box?
Mine has worked ok till now - but now I've got the annoying whine.
I had it set up as a "busy" lamp for WFH. I have a frosted glass window, so when I put this on, you can see the red hue and the kids know not to enter.
I didn't realise it had an onboard battery though, I don't think that ever worked! But now that it's whining, I want to return it, as it's now useless.
If its faulty - box is not necessary.
But for 60 or 365 day change of mind return - will need to be in saleable condition - with box etc.
does anyone still have the instructions? I'd like to know how to reset the lamps.
Nothing in the instructions about any sort of hard reset.
The middle button seems to be the important one - try holding that down for 30 seconds and see if it works.
From the instruction sheet:
FAQ:
Device has gone offline and wont reconnect back online by itself?
Go the device settings page (pencil… con, ok for "remove device" Remove it and
reset the device and pair it again through the app.How to re-connect smart device to new Wi-Fi Network?
Go the device settings page (pencil or … icon), look for "remove device" Remove it then reset and pair it again through the app. What other method can I try if none of the above worked?
If you're using an android phone please try an ipad or Iphone to pair it.My light suddenly stopped working?
Please try using a known working 5V 1A adaptor and type C cablethanks - yet another lamp has become unable to be connected. It appears in the Tuya app, but stops pairing mode before being paired. Another one to take back…
(QLD) If you're still looking, I finally got a couple of them from Chermside. When I rang in the morning, the team member said they "have a whole crate of them out the back" — But, when I got there in the evening, the staff had trouble finding them. A bit of persistence and patience paid off as a lovely trainee team member WAS able to find them out the back.
They were literally just behind a doorway to the right side of the entertainment counter, in a crate apparently labeled as "returns". All unopened, so I don't know what the go was. Perhaps someone bought a few and one didn't work out so they returned the rest…
My opinion of it? Not great, not terrible, just OK. At first, I had the same coil whine noise issue that others have reported, then it went away after a full charge and hasn't come back since.
The biggest downside? They don't seem to hold charge for very long. 2 days connected to WiFi at max, with maybe 10 minutes of actual illumination time in total over that period and the rest just idle on the WiFi waiting for commands. It needs to be kept plugged in really.I had no issue adding it to the Tuya Smart app, which is great as it can be kept in 1 place with all of my other smart IOT devices. I now have it set up in a hallway, with rules attached to a Zigbee PIR sensor that trigger to turn it on when motion is detected only after sunset, and then turn off after 2 minutes of no motion being detected. It goes alright, just a shame it has to be plugged in as I could probably use an actual lamp to do this task better, but oh well.
The music detection mode works great and my kiddo loves playing with one and having it flash away alongside the computer while they listen to music or play games - I don't know how they can stand it, as if it were me it would distract and annoy the F out of me trying to game, lol!!
For $10 they are not a bad grab at all… Thanks for the bargain @wisdomtooth
i just got this today. has anybody noticed it has high pitch sound when turned on?
After fully charging this device, I notice that the battery depletes completely within a few days, even when it's not in use. The Temu lights are even better quality 😅
Same thing happens to mine. I fully charge it and within a few days it is flat even without using the light at all.
I also had to reset it within the first week after it randomly wouldn't connect to the Mirabella app or work with google home.

Here is my esphome config: https://gist.github.com/renkoh/45790d4a4d954c344084b0d5f86c0…
You need to use Itchiptool and a UART to usb adapter to flash it, you may be able to use cloudcutter but I have not tried to see if the firmware is old enough. The docs are here: https://docs.libretiny.eu/docs/flashing/tools/ltchiptool/
