      yes $0 fees

      Yes, no fee.

  • I tried paying my Origin energy bills using these cards and it failed. Has anyone encountered this issue as well?

    • Maybe you can do it through Post Billpay or something instead.

    • Same here. Got declined paying Origin bills with these cards

  • just did 10 cards on the ATO and then 11th failed with the message The card XXXXXX******XXXX has been declined

so limit was 10 for me

    • Other comments suggest the 10-transaction limit resets every 12-24 hours. Others suggested that there are separate limits on the ATO portal and Government Easypay.

      • +1

Yes, 10 on MyGov and 5 on Easypay. Just did this yesterday.

      • Probably but can't risk copying the wrong prn for EasyPay

  • Anyone order more than $2500 per day?

    • Max I ordered was around 20k in day, this was when there was a 10% disc.

Kept getting errors on most of my cards at the time which limited me from buying more.

    • Yes, I did $5000. The second lot was difficult. The first was on Chrome, and the second on DuckDuckGo did not work. I tried Mozilla, and it worked. There were several hours between the first and second. Names, addresses, emails, and CCs were different.

  • Wonder if there won't be any more discount/bonus points offer for the duration of this promo (given last one just ended)

  • new to credit card. do I get points if I use credit card to purchase these kind of gift card, i.e AMEX

  • -1

Sorry, I still can't understand the benefit of paying ATO using these cards? You buy $100 coles mastercard digital card and pay $100 to ATO with no surcharge because these are accepted as debit card. What is the benefit? Just credit card rewards points in purchasing $100 gift card and paying ATO with it?

    • +5

Pretty much yes it’s about earning credit card points on transactions that otherwise are ineligible from earning points such as ATO/Strata/Council. It’s also handy if you need to meet spending requirements on new CC with cashback/points bonus but don’t really need to buy anything yet.

      • +3

        Thanks for clarifying mate.

      • I’m also new to this.

I don’t have a points earning cc, but it has a minimum spend per year to avoid annual fee.

Will that be the only benefit for me ?

Can I get Cole’s fly buys on these ?

        Thanks

        • +2

No flybuys but yes to benefit of spend to avoid annual fee.

        • +1

Just curious, why do you use a card with an annual fee but no rewards program?

          • @alcadive: It’s only 30 dollar fee that gets waived with a 5000 per year spend.

I did do the Citi prestige deal about two years ago . It’s was amazing how much bonus dollars , points and gift cards I got out of it. Never saw anything like it and probably never will again.

There was a mega post on here.

  • Just noticed unable to access the site for getting the card number, anyone in a similar boat?

    TIA

  • Site is crawling

  • Will this run out ?

  • Sorry if this has been asked before, but can these be used to renew car registration?

Is there a better way to earn points renewing car rego?

    • +1

      Which state car rego ?
I manage to pay Vicroads using this card.
Each card max value is only $250, so will only work for quarterly payment which is under $250.
But for quarterly payment there is $2.65 service fee each payment + 0.54% credit card fee.

      • Cheers for the info mate

        Looking at rego in SA

Ahhh so that'd be around $10.60 service fee + 0.54% credit card fee for 12-months

Is there a more effective way to pay that pesky rego and still earn points?

        • Most people use Sniip as a workaround

          • @Craze: I had a look at Sniip, but it doesn't look like I can use Sniip without some sort of bill

My renewals are sent to my email, but no bill is attached. It only directs me to the ServiceSA website, which only lets you add payment card information

Does anyone happen to know a workaround for this?

It looks like Sniip lets you enter a BPAY Biller Code, but I wouldn't have a Reference Number without a bill, would I?

I just purchased and paid of my body cord fees using DEFT.
I used $249.01 to make the total $250 each time.
On the transaction list I get I see the transaction for the $249.01… and then I see another transaction for "Declined DEFT Tokeniz, 00000000 St. Louis". But I remember last time I got these also and it seemed to work.

(I also didnt log into DEFT and did each as a separate once of transaction as I read before that some times if you login errors may occur)

Now just need to wait 2 days or so for my body corp website to show the transactions to make sure it really worked.

    • Did the DEFT payment work?

      • +1

sorry mate, I didnt respond earlier.. yes it did.

        • Thanks for sharing. I'm also having that declined stuff showing on the statement. But I'm guessing since I already got the payment receipt from DEFT then it should be all good

          • +1

@foxes28: I think you will be ok. I paid some more yesterday, but my strata portal takes about 72 hours to show payments which is annoying waiting to see them reflected.

  • Has someone with a Revolut account tried using these to add money to the account?

    • I remember seeing some one said working before, but then Revolut blocked his account after.

  • Seems like the promo has been cut short - the $7 discount is not showing anymore on these cards. Anyone seeing this too?

  • Yep, the promo has been cut off now by Giftcards.com.au - no reason given other than that they reserve the right to do so at any time.

    • Doh. I was just about to try out this deal for the first time tonight… oh well…

  • It seems they cut it short every time which is very annoying

  • +2

It's back. Didn't repost as it has the same expiry as the OP stated. I guess they took it off and now put it back.

    • @bk1973 thanks for that mate, I was checking every second day. But also subscribed to the thread and got your comment in a email… so helped me jump back in quickly. A bit more paid of my body corp bill today.. cheers.

      Thanks, got 10.

  • Has anyone got a declined message from ATO? i have been successful with paying 8 of the cards but 2 of somehow keeps saying declined

    • Update: resolved as I switched to Government EasyPay

  • I kept getting transaction failed message for the last three days.

    Couldnt get any transactions through.

Any one has the same experience?

    • Which card were you trying to pay from? I also have transaction failed for the past 12 hours but I just received a call from AMEX saying they were blocking the transactions for fraud protection and ask if i were wanted them to remove the fraud concern. So it could well be your card blocking the transactions.

      • +1

Update: just confirming that after the amex call, i was able to put through my order for 10 cards.

        • I was using Amex (platinum edge). It is not AMEX who blocked it. It is the website validation.

I just emailed support team who said will get their IT to have a look why the trasaction kept failing.

          • @baozi: Update.

Resolved. Coles said my email was linked to 2 different name so system treated as potential fraud and blocked me.
Told them mrs used it and provided them with the name. They accepted the explanation and unblocked me.

            Purchase went through earlier today.

  • Does using many gift cards to pay the ATO possibly get you flagged for fraud? Using stacks of gift cards to pay for something seems like something fraudsters do. Are the credit card points worth the risk to get that sort of attention from the ATO?

    • I have been doing this for years and used more than 500 GC—no problems from ATO.

      • The only issue you might have if you overpay and want to get a refund for the positive balance. They need to refund to the original payment method, which in this case is impossible as its a gift card.

        • I have received a refund on one of these cards. But if it was a large amount it would be messy.

  • Anyone know if you can use these to pay off land-tax bill with split payments?

I have a minimum spend for a credit card I'm trying to use up, and I have a land tax bill >$1000, so I'd need at least 5 cards to pay it off.

    • +1

Yes, I used these to pay land tax about six months ago. But if you have set up quarterly payments, the SRO will send an invoice for the total yearly amount as soon as you pay. This is the only time this has happened to me. The council will still send you the next invoice when it's due.

      • Thank you for the reply. To clarify, did you pay it in all at once? I.e. did you use 3-4 gift cards to pay it off in that one sitting?

Previously I've been paying off all my bills in one lump sum. I'm credit card churning now and the concept of using gift cards is new to me to meet the minimum spend.

        • Initially, I just paid the quarterly amount that was due, but shortly after, they contacted me to pay the rest of the quarterly payments that had been scheduled. I think you can pay the full amount at once.
          Feel free to DM me.

          • @Yola: Thanks for the replies. It worked, I used several gift cards to pay it off at once.

  • Can you use these cards to buy something over the phone?

  • Anyone else buy many of these to try and pay rates but noticed after you pay one $250 gift card, you cannot pay another as it says there is a payment processing? what can we do about this? thanks in advance

    • Yes, this happens a lot. I do another one the next day.

  • Note: I tried to pay council fees over the phone using this and they charged $1.12 fee for $250 (as they don't allow ausbill app or paypal).

Also tried to pay in person at Australia Post instead but they do not allow entry of card numbers. You must have it as a physical card or in a digital wallet (I'm not able to add it in google wallets, it returned an error saying contact card provider).

    • Which council?

  • I just purchased a $250 card to test with the ATO's payment system. I used a CBA Smart Awards credit card.

The first purchase failed as the transaction was blocked by CBA for being suspicious. After confirming the transaction was legitimate, CBA invited me to try again. So I purchased another card, and this one came through.

But, I have 2x $250 pending transactions on my credit card… Hopefully the first one disappears as I only received one card.

  • What do people enter as the cardholder name?

    • I put my real name in when paying the ATO. It worked.

      • Interesting, my real name didn't work, but "Gift Cardholder" did for anyone else that has trouble.

  • +5

Goddamnit, just waiting for some funds to transfer to purchase and it expired again…

    • +1

Yeah same for me, even though the promotion is until the 28th. Will it come back ?

      • +1

hopefully they have been available twice now. I had a payment I was scheduled to make later this week.
(apart from the no purchase fee, I wish they where another 1 or 2% off… I would then just prepay a bunch of stuff).

  • +2

Why has this already ended? it's meant to be until 28 February? so annoying

  • Oh no, expired, I was coming up for the deadline

  • Gone already. Not yet 5pm 28/2/2025 …….

  • +7

Arg, im checking everyday for when this comes back online.
