    • Dude. Kaspersky rocks

  • I have a previous Kaspersky from save on IT ……. I seem to recall you need to remove the old existing program and then install the new version ??? otherwise there is some conflict anf Kaspersky attempts to hit you for their normal cost that is higher than Save on It if you try to overlay the existing program?. Can any confirm please …. Cheers

You can login Kaspersky account, disable any auto renew from previous subscription, remove all the payment method saved and then simply input the new code at the bottom. It will then start as new subscription. Your application in PC should automatically update then.

      Thanks - much appreciated !!

  • Does anyone know if this would stack on an existing subscription? I don't want to loose out on 191 that I have left.

Lol @all Anti Russian, Anti Chinese, Anti ETC. Did you know your iPad, iPhone, tech devices may contain metals mined by slavery, in line with other illegal activities, corruption, prostitution, extortion, exploitation, murder, mega-ETC. Some companies have cleaned up some of their act, for eg. APPLE - but only some of their act.

No point making a big hoo hah where something originally is based. You know right now the US is involved in anti competitive practices by continuously blocking companies for national security interests. World is a global manufacturing place assembling devices using raw materials and components from many locations. To reverse globalisation for a country would take decades and cost trillions of dollars.

Just rate the software for what it is - how good it is.

      Hypocrites the lot of them

Haha. Personal attacks. Muwhahaha 🤣 it's software. Chill the f*#k out 🥳

Among the best. The United States are in a trade war. Don't confuse this with how this product does. Kaspersky is the best.

    • I agree Kas been rated the best - always saved my bacon.

  • What's wrong with the free version? (Apart from no VPN)

  • Does the VPN support torrenting? Asking for a friend.

Finding it humorous people calling out no deal/Russia bad whilst they use slave labour phones, shoes and probably clothing waiting for the next Temu deal.

    • -3

Humorous, or can't you work out why your analogy is puerile?

      • -1

Is your username and acronym for "I Give A Fu*K" because judging by the abrasive comment, you care too much.

        Heaven forbid they don't understand!

P.S you'll be glad my username is accurate too - love ripping farts.

        • +1

Try again, I'm more a three letter man. Judging by your comment, you know too little about too much.

    • Aren't you saying this from the country officially selling golden passports to the owners of those Temu vendors?

  • -1

My concious got to me so I turned the gas off as well ! Uninstalled Kaspersky and went Bitdefender and Nord which is way more expensive but I can sleep !
koplik8 has no idea posting this like the other 36 up voters .
Don't buy kaspersky premium - it's messy and hiding something i dunno .

Not supporting Russia and their invasion.

Fun fact: Russian interest rates are now at 21%, and the mortgage rate is at 30%. This is the price they pay for supporting their bald midget leader's attempt at conquest lol. And Russia was already a complete dump before the invasion.

    • Kaspersky is not owned by the Russian government!! You do realise it was Donald Trump in 2018 that signed the order to ban Kaspersky being used by U.S government departments. I'm not trusting anything that comes from Donald Trump's team of boneheaded investigators. This term he has recruited Fox News host Pete Hegseth, as the Secretary of Defence. Could you imagine what he did last time to come to this realisation that Kaspersky was a threat!

    • How is Russia invading Ukraine different from US invading Afghanistan? Now you have orange orang utang wanting Canada

      • How is Russia invading Ukraine different from US invading Afghanistan?

It's VERY different as most know. You'll have to search and read for yourself to catch up on the basics.

While you're learning the fundamental differences you might even discover that Russia "invaded" Afghanistan before the Yanks and how the mob Murica trained and armed eventually sent them packing, as they later did to the Yanks/"Coalition". The girls and women of Afghanistan (among others) are now paying the price as you know.

    Never support invaders.

Russians getting desperate for income with so much spending committed to the war. They have already burned through half their accumulated savings, and spend more than 5% of their GDP on the war. Interest rates in Russia are at 21% and climbing; even Chinese companies are starting to cease doing business with them because they're unlikely to get paid.

Scumbag country run by a scumbac dictator. No deal.

  • +1

Why would you trust russians to protect your PC?

    • You need different Anti-Virus software, eg. Russian AV can catch American virus, American AV can catch Romanian virus, etc.

  • This hasn’t aged well, although concerns about Kaspersky were apparent much earlier

    • Comrad, yur IP adres wos rekorded, stoy wer yu ar.

  • This is not a good company run by Russia to easy get into your phone and computer

  • +2

Great deal. Kaspersky is one of the best available and would recommend it.

  • +2

You couldn't pay me to install this.

    This is not a deal.

US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) determined that Kaspersky posed an undue or unacceptable risk to US national security … The ban went into effect on September 29, 2024.

While Kaspersky officials stated that the purpose of the new software installation was to protect its customers, some within the national security community raised questions about the propriety of the installation and the risks of providing root-level access to Kaspersky

The US is one of the only countries to ban Kaspersky usage in the public and private sectors. Other countries have banned or restricted the use of Kaspersky from government devices or national security department usage (e.g. Canada, Italy, UK) or issued warnings against using Kaspersky software in public and private sectors (e.g. Germany).

Yes I'm moving away from my Kaspersky when it's up for renewal next week, just because of this.

    • +1

LOL. It is certainly not illegal to use Kaspersky in the US or in any country.

I've been using Kaspersky VPN and anti-virus for years without issue. I've never had my computer/phone hacked, never lost my credit card details etc, and I do all the dumb things on the internet such as torrent downloads, letting my kids run amok on the internet, I just trust that my anti-virus will look out for me, and for years it has without any issues.
It's been both my favourite anti-virus and VPN that I've used. I bought this Kaspersky deal about 2 years ago before they combined the anti-virus and VPN togeather.
I've got almost 1 year to go but I will switch to this new combined anti-virus/VPN as soon as my other plan finishes.

    • +2

I used it for more than a decade before dumping it last year. It does the job better than many BUT geopolitics have changed massively and deeper investigation has exposed risks - which most users would be unlikely to either be aware of or be exposed to UNLESS the Russian conflict/invasion was to spread. The jurisdiction involved is a key factor in any security system

  • Lots of negs on this for Kaspersky being a Russian comapny, and I have no doubt that these come from people that don't actually know anything about Kaspersky.

These guys are "relativley" trustworthy in the sense they're no different to any other antivirus. They are incredibly invasive as is the NATURE of such a thing.
However, they're also one of the best antiviruses, so pick your poision.

Overall, I would reccomend not using them, or any other antivirus as they are somewhat unecessary. Exercise good caution and you shouldn't have an issue, especially with windows defender sort of being the standard now.

Possibly could be useful for elderly folk, but otherwise it's not needed.

Kaspersky is NOT as bad as everyone makes it out to be, and most of the neg's seem to be for polical reasons. I get Russia bad blah blah but this isn't a state owned entity.

    • +1

You've completely overlooked jurisdictional risk. I suggest you update your reading on both Kaspersky (its FSB links) and Putin/Russian politics. "Loyalty" (fealty in China) is a key part to doing business/surviving:
      https://www.rferl.org/a/putin-nationalization-defense-war-uk….
      https://daviscenter.fas.harvard.edu/insights/russia-mobiliza…

    • but this isn't a state owned entity.

      That is entirely irrelevant.

The US have secret FISA warrants issued in closed courts, which essentially allow their agencies to do whatever they want without any public knowledge. This is in a democracy, with a congress that passed these laws.

For example, in 2013, one of their largest telcos was ordered to provide

a daily feed to the NSA containing "telephony metadata" – comprehensive call detail records, including location data – about all calls in its system

We only know of that one due to some leaks, who knows what else is going on.

I can only imagine what kind of laws Russia would pass.

AV software has special access to the OS. And if Kaspersky did provision a back door, they would not be able to admit it. Also, their owner has not strongly condemned the ongoing invasion, which indicates to me either a fear of their government or complacency with the whole situation, either of which would make this a less than ideal product to have on your PC.

For most ozbargaineers there is very likely nothing you do on your computer that is valuable to any opposing gov, unless your an inventor, engineer, programmer, diplomat, etc or something really special that other governments may benefit from, using this software poses very little risk, whether that be to you, politically or otherwise*

*Disclaimer, like all things in life your generally responsible for your own choices n sh-t n blah blah. Read the PDS BS to learn your in the matrix and all your purchases are not real, btw stop taking your neighbors garbage out 🤣

Surprise, it’s the computer itself that’s valuable.

Lol. If, as the saying goes, ignorance is bliss you must be one of the happiest people on the planet. Newsflash - risk has two major components - likelihood, and consequences.

Russia has ignored its cyber criminals for decades. Interestingly, reports suggest that some of Russia's internet thieves have limits to their depravity. For example, their ransomware doesn't operate in certain CIS countries, including of course Russia - the cybercrime index topper - itself.
