Zodiac CX20 Robotic Pool Cleaner $1099 Delivered @ Pool and Spa Warehouse

110
NOSWEAT

I keep coming back to this simple little pool cleaner. Does everything that other machines do at a much lower cost. Emptying the basket is the most user friendly type you can get. Yeah, they've gone up in price over the years (eg. paid $831 in 2018, $1199 in 2024). Cheapest I've seen this in recent times.

Tip: Hose them down after every cleaning and keep them stored out of the elements. I don't though. Mine spends most of the summer in the pool and I get around 4-5 years out of them which is more than the higher priced Maytronics varieties I've had previously.

  • Recently bought the FX18 from the same deal, about $730, from their eBay store with 3% off eBay gift card. Pretty happy for this price.

$724 with eBay plus at the moment, you should post the deal and give some feedback. I haven't tried it but always wanted to although my pool is larger than what the FX18 is rated for.

whats the difference between the Zodiac Tornax TX20 and the FX18 ?

        • +1

The TX20 primarily focuses on the pool floor, not walls.

        Thanks. Posted.

  • CX20 was only $999 on Black Friday

How do these compare to the Aiper units?

I've had two CX20 now and both lasted a bit over 3 years. They did a great job and spent their life in the elements. Sad when they die though. First one was control box and second was a drive motor. Definitely agree with cleaning as often as possible.
I'm now giving one of the cheaper amazon models a go, so far doesn't clean as well but price difference is significant.

I've had mine for 8 years, and still going strong. Had to replace the cable once but otherwise no issues, and still cleans my 60,000l Pebblecrete pool great. It lives under the pergola, but still out in full sun.

    • 8 years is awesome. I'm guessing you looked after it well?

      • Just hose it down after every clean and don't leave it in the pool when it's finished.

Same here, mine is over 8 years old. I just replaced the cord for the first time. I rinse it after use and keep it in a cupboard. It does a pretty good job of cleaning both the floor and the walls. I use the optional 100 micron filter.

      • Nice. How much was the cord? Yes, the standard filter doesn't trap the sediment that well at all. So I usually have the pool filter working when the robot is on so the dust gets sucked off the floor and eventually into the pool skimmer.

        • The cord cost me $160 off ebay, but it is more expensive from pool shops. The 100 micron filter does a better job at getting fine particles but I still find the CX20 blows a lot of dust out the top as it runs, I think it is just the design. I also run the filter when the robot is running for the same reason.

      • How do you know cord needs replacing?

Mine just started turning itself/indicator lights off after I start it.

        • Mine would stop working after a minute or so and I'd get a flashing red error light on the controller. It was a single repeated flash (there are different codes for different errors according to the manual). I opened it up and found that when I removed the internal plug for the cord there was water and corrosion inside. I tried repairing it myself by cutting the cable and re-soldering the plug but it didn't last long before water got in again. I noticed that there was physical damage to the cable plug which was causing a leak. Since you can't just buy replacement plugs I bought a whole new cable which solved the problem.

Wow. Didn't know they still existed. I just offloaded my old one. Got a whole $150. Worked well overall. Just a lot of rubber started to rot…

  • I recently got a pool, but the water is cloudy. I recently replaced the chlorinator and pump, but now I’m wondering if the sand filter might be faulty. How can I check if the sand filter is working properly before replacing it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
