  • why are esims just as expensive ? I thought post covid they hiked up the price of the physical sims to account for plastic and chip material? Whats the price of the qr code/installation from app?

    • Only low end phones do not have eSIM. People having high end ones can afford it.

      • It's not only high end phones now which have esim. For example i have the TCL 50 Pro 5G smartphone which has esim and it's considered mid range. Infact I'm using amaysim through esim on it. It was so easy to set up esim through the amaysim Android app.

And apparently the Motorola Moto G75 5G sold at Australian retailers for $499 also supports esim. That's another mid range smartphone.

More and more mid range smartphones are beginning to support esim. I would say in a few years most smartphones will support esim even if it's mid range.

  • You can grab this over at Amaysim directly too

    • Yup, posted here.

There was some discussion in the other post about buying from Woolworths (or Coles) being more suitable for people who may not wish to use the SIM card soon or wish to convert to pay as you go later. The SIM directly from amaysim seems to arrive preactivated. You may need to contact amaysim to reset the expiry date or convert to pay as you go.

Yes it's best buying from the supermarket.

The SIM starter kits sold from supermarts from say this are not preactivated. You could activate the SIM months later.

        • Previous comments also suggest there is 10% discount if one has Everyday Extra membership.

          • @trixieb: hi Trixieb, could you please point me to where it was suggested/state there is 10% discount? thank you.

            • @Urbahns2008: 10% discount (with Everyday Extra membership) mentioned here:

I haven't tried as I bought amaysim from Coles before and not Woolworths.

    Nice OP ❤️

  • without the bonus, when is the latest to activate?

The amaysim packaging says: "Activate SIM within 12 months of purchase".

  • Is it possible to activate this sim on any plan?

I was thinking of as you go with $30 credit, or the 7 day $10 plan, leaving $20 credit over after activation.

I haven't tried but it seems possible according to this comment.

  • Hoping to purchase this for my parents, who want to transfer a number (Boost) and go to PAYG in about 3 weeks. Can someone confirm this will work please? They select PAYG on activation? Thanks!

Plan B could be to be on this for 28 days then move to $60 Talk and Text for 365 days?

      Yes, they can.

      They select PAYG on activation?

      Yes.

      Possibly similar to this comment.

Confirming it's possible. As soon as you activate on a plan, all the options open up (but only makes sense to wait for current plan to "expire" before moving over, unless you want to forego what you've currently got).
