As dumb as the price of these things are, I can't imagine anyone buying this chair would have a video card that cost much less (5080), let alone their whole gaming rig.

100%. Same concept as those who own a modern OLED TV would not hesitate to buy a PS5 Pro if they’re into console gaming.

Jim's not Goku Black? where's Jim??

asian jim: is this the power of ultra instinct?

Where did you park the Herman Miller chair?
- 7

If you can afford the chair you can afford the ticket.

How do you like it? I currently have a cheap one from Kogan that wasn't too bad until something went crack when I sat down, and now it feels crooked….

I like it, i went with the luxury model which feels a bit silly in hindsight. I've worked from home for a couple of months and have loved the functions. I don't know if I'd prefer the fabric/leather option but they weren't available at the time anyway.

Does it come with a gaming console, or just a hole in my wallet?

Plenty of stock.. I am not surprised.
- 5

oh come on.. the price of these chairs are getting ridiculous everyday

Had mine maybe 14 years now. Think it was around $2k back then.
- -5

what is the value proposition? Just that it lasts 14 years?
- 1

Just my 2c, I bought a Herman Miller Mirra 2 second hand 3 years ago for $115 at a very small auction. I don't see it needing to be replaced in the next decade but when it does I will buy another one. It's the most comfortable I have ever used and my back thanks me every day. I didn't realise a chair could be this good.
- 0

but would pay $2500 for a new one next time?
- 1

Well, you don't need to if you can buy one second hand.
But honestly, it's not the craziest thing. I have an Aeron that I bought in I think 2001 that I still sit on every day. I had to replace the seat a couple years ago as the mesh ripped (~$200 IIRC) but aside from that it's still in great condition. I bought it for $1100 at the time.
- 0

vaild point. Im guessing you probably be unlikely to buy a new aeron for 2500… i personally like the aeron too but couldnt bring myself to buy a new one for what they sell for… unfortunately, its in the nice to have basket now
- 1

@qtvinsta: Yeh it's hard, especially because I bought one in 2014 when I lived in the US, brand new from Amazon, for about $600. Unfortunately at the time it was too hard to bring home with me. Kicking myself for that decision, would have easily been worth it.

we use mirra 2's at work and it's indeed a comfortable chair. Thoguh to be honest; my previous office just had basic office chairs that probably cost 20% of the price of the mirra and i don't remember it being bad. So while these high end Herman Millers are indeed nice; the value proposition is a bit dubious.

If I win the lottery, I won't tell anyone but there will be signs.

Such as "TONYAMAZING HAS WON THE LOTTERY!!!"?

Well worth it.
My Q*bert high score went up by 100,000 after I got one of these.- 0

Tried. Was nice. But not worth $2700 when there are other decent ergonomic chairs around. The HM covid price inflation is wild. I bought my Aeron about a decade ago for $1100 new and love it, but the $3000-3500 price now is insane.

This gaming chair or PS5 + Xbox + Nintendo switch + tons of games?
- 0

Only if console and games included.

i have this chair and i love it. my job requires me to sit at the computer for 10+hrs a day so i think it's worth the usage/cost ratio
however, i waited for the "living edge" warehouse sale to snag one. ~1.2k- 0

These chairs have gone through the roof due to work from home.
- 0

even my kidney can't afford it..
- 1

Ah nice … Perfect for those with $6000 GPUs. You can't sit on pleb level chairs in front of your new 5090..
- 1

All the poors jump into these threads to bring people down. Instead, they should elevate themselves in education/skills so they could afford it if they wanted to.
- -5

It's all those advocado toast brunches. Just need to pull them selves up by their boot straps.
- 2

So cheap. just ordered 3 pairs.
- 0

Pairs?
You got a wide-load going on there?- 1

Surely there's a decent knockoff of these being sold for a sane price somewhere? Marketing fluff aside it's just plastic and metal bits.
- 1

Plenty but ymmv
- 0

Ridiculously priced these were much cheaper 3-5 years ago.
