Spotify Premium Individual 12 Months US$20.86 (~A$33) via India Subscription Card (VPN Req) @ Vikingsbrothers G2A

2050

Repost of the expired deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/824279 (shout out to Scrooge Mcdeal) with some slight changes for 2025.

Important Note #1: You need an inactive account (account without an active premium subscription) to change your region. If you're region is already set to India then no steps involving VPN are needed - you can just paste the key and redeem 12 months. Alternatively you can make a new account.

Important Note #2: Your Spotify account's region will be set to India, meaning the recommendations are localised to that country.

Instructions

Step 1
Purchase a Spotify 12 month subscription from G2A using the above links. There are multiple sellers with varying reliability. I personally went with 'Vikingsbrothers' who had the most sales and highest rating and received the code within 2 minutes. As of writing, the price is $32.81. There are also other durations available on G2A e.g. 1, 3 & 6 months. The maximum allowable subscription using gift cards is 18months.

Eneba is also another possible seller. I cannot find any Amazon India sellers.

Step 2
Wait until you have received your activation code (typically couple of minutes).

Step 3.
Switch your VPN ON and set the location to India.
When the VPN is activated, go to Spotify(accounts.spotify.com). Go to "account" then "Edit Profile", change the country setting option to "India" it should appear.
If it does not appear, check if the VPN is activated correctly . Save Changes. This will now enable you to redeem your Indian Gift Card.

Step 4.
Copy and paste the gift card codes you have previously purchased. If you try to redeem more than 18 months of premium, you will receive an error stating that you cannot redeem more than 18 months of premium in advance.

Done!

It may be possible to convert to a family plan as documented by a past deal but this has not been tested. You want to keep the same region otherwise the duration of premium will be reduced.

    • would also like to know - I keep getting kicked off a family plan :(
It looks like Spotify is using GPS data to work out if you are in the original country or not :/

      • IP address most likely.

      • True. So signing up thrpugh india, would cancel within months?

  • might give this one a try … looks like my monthly Turk sub won't be renewed

Your Premium membership was not renewed because the country where you purchased your membership does not match the country you are listening to or watching content from. Therefore, you have been upgraded to our free service.

To regain access to your Premium experience, you can re-subscribe by adding a payment method that works in your current country and updating your country settings. Your country must be one of the countries where we offer Premium. The price you pay in your country may be different than the price you are currently paying.

    • Exactly this happened

  • Anyone else seeing 33 USD on G2A?

    • I just got it for 34AUD and successfully redeemed it on Spotify

      • for family package?

  • Question: I got signed up using another country for cheaper rate, spotify caught me and cancelled my family account after few months. Anyhow, can i use vpn and use the same account, change the country and by gift card and activate my spotify family account again?

  • I tried this, G2a with a Turkish seller. The account kept reverting to a free account. Has this happened to anyone else?

  • +1

    Check Egypt. They accept Paypal.
You just need to create a Paypal EG account. They asked for a EG phone number, but I didn't have to verify it.
Linked a Revolut card to it just fine.

You can do a 12 months one time payment on Individual and Duo subs. Family is only on a monthly basis.
    Premium Individual : 699.99 EGP / year
    Duo : 1049.99 EGP / year

Ideally, you should do EG individual => local Duo / Family plan trick.

@alusawa can you explain what you mean by
Ideally, you should do EG individual => local Duo / Family plan trick. ?

      thanks

      • I am curious about this comment as well.

  • Just signed up. Fingers crossed no issues

  • Can confirm this worked perfectly for me after my previous Argentinian sub reverted back to a free account.

  • Just bought and activated, everything working so far.
    Will see how this goes

    • Been working great
The recommendations occasionally has like an Indian category but everything else is normal recommendations based on my listening

      • +1

Thanks for the update. Might need this if the YouTube subscription gets the boot.

  • Has anyone on this purchasing the (12 months upfront) ever had their subscription cancelled part way? or just at the end near renewal?

Like Crunchyroll/Disney+ cancelled part way though subs with no refund at one point, just curious if Spotify has done the same to anyone usign these geo-loophole methods?

    • Highly doubt it

    • yes, mine was cancelled but it was because this seller (vikingsbrother) requested a refund on the CC they used to buy the code with. Once they were refunded the original buyer, it rendered my code invalid and premium stopped working. Couldn't get a refund in G2A because according to them, they had provided the goods that they were (claiming) to be selling.

  • Does anyone know after "redeeming" the gift cards in india - if you can switch back to Australia?

"Can you change your Spotify location back to Australia after redeeming the gift cards and turning off the vpn? Or is it best to leave the location in India?"

"Don't change it. It will reduce the sub.

I just went to do it, but it changed from next payment in June of 2025 to December of 2024."

      Maybe just leave it..

    still working!

  • Thanks op, not sure why this is expired, still works!

    • worth noting 15 hours of audio books did not work for me

  • +2

Still working! Upgraded two accounts to premium that lapsed from Egypt.

  • Worked for me, thanks OP. Just wish I could change the country back without losing months!

    • Cost benefit is worth it to get some foreign country targetted music!

  • I was able to convert to family plan with Paypal as the payment method for the past 2 years, damn, Paypal is not longer avaiable today! Can only pay by UPI app or Credit Card (india) which I dont have. any cue?

    • +1

yes, seems they've fixed it now as Paypal is no longer an option.

It doesn't even let you change plans anymore.. the page just refreshes.

  • Have tried using VPN to India but url still shows as https://www.spotify.com/au/account/overview/ and redeeming url also has AU in it. Any idea why?

    Edit: It worked now

    • are you only doing individual account or family/duo?

  • Just got this working tonight as my Egypt sub expired.

    Worked like a charm!!!

I used Windscribe VPN on my Macbook

    • +1

My Egypt just expired as well - Looks like we're on the same cycle, see you in 12 months!

      • +1

        Username checks out LOL

      • So all these methods can't last longer than 12 months?

        • Spotify allows a max of 18 months in advance, but I just use a 12-month gift card—that’s all that was available on G2A. In a year, I’ll just check which country has the cheapest and easiest to use deal and buy again

    • +1

Why not renew the Egypt sub on their 12m plan btw?

I sub recently and Egypt is ~$21.91 (EGP699) for 12m individual plan

      • Hey man i used to be on an Egypt subscription too but it lapsed. Now I'm trying to do it again except I can't find any places that sell the egypt 12m plan. Where did you get it from?

  • I cannot convert to family account following successful redemption. It errors out with "Sorry, you are not eligible for that plan. You can’t change countries until your prepaid plan has expired." Anyone else get the family conversion to work? TIA

  • +1

looks like spotify has stopped people converting accounts to family that were paid with individual gift cards. my family has changed back to individual.

    • It was good while it lasted. Did they change your family plan back to individual AU pricing or Indian Pricing ?

If it's just change of family to individual, i wonder how long till they start culling all the individual accounts from India to Australia pricing.

  • Can't find anywhere to put the code. Comes up with either pay by UPI app or 'credit/debit card'. No other choices. Either of them wants cc or bank app scanning. I've followed the steps. Um help!

  • Question: could I just buy the 6 or 12 month duo membership via one off payment? E.g via Spotify Egypt.
Or do I need to use the gift card vouchers to make this possible?

  • +2

My payment would not succeed on G2A, so I went with https://driffle.com/spotify-12-months-subscription-in-digita… instead.

Also cheaper at Order Amount INR 1621.73 (AUD29.73)

Card received instant and worked without issues.

    • tried driffle as per your link, and payment declined on multiple method (wise, etc) so I gave up

  • Anyone tried converting to Australia?

I get this error - Sorry, you are not eligible for that plan. You can’t change countries until your prepaid plan has expired.

    • Why would you convert back? Just leave it..

      • Because I was following the steps in the original post including changing to family, which worked previously, it is no longer working. I didn’t read the entire thread to see that it had stopped working.

        • Do you still have the same issue? My plan expires in about a month before I will have to redo these steps, but I managed to convert normally at the end of April.

    • Yeah same happening to me too now.
Its a bit of a problem because I dont know how this will effect Duo or Family, since you need to have the same address.

  • I was just kicked off family and now have individual only with 12 months left. Is this game over or do I just need to top up?

  • What's the cheapest way for an Australian family subscription now? Converting from other countries is OK

    • Depends on family size. I need 4x subs so I'm thinking 4x Individual India plans for $116 total is still better than $288 using Aussie Family plan.

….ooooo maybe not. Just reading through the last 3 months of comments with people being detected and plans cancelled. Bastards. Might be time to ween the family off Spoopafoo.

  • Thanks OP. Another 12mths for $31.

  • Confirmed this is still working. Took A$29.19 for 12 months.

I used a free VPN Chrome extension, Urban VPN Proxy, as it has a free India node.

  • Confirmed working. Payment from G2A had failed on my laptop until I paid from my phone.

  • Confirming I also used Urban VPN Proxy through Chrome with success. The vikingbrothers seller was no longer listed so I used Gaming4you, they were a little more expensive but had the highest rating and the code arrived instantly. Redeemed a 12 month code and wanted to also get a 6 month code but 1-3-6 month codes are all currently unavailable.

  • Does this still work?

  • +2

Can confirm after talking to Spotify directly, they recently (around May) killed the whole changing plan to family.
They implemented a system where redeeming a gift card will now lock you out of switching your country until it expires.
So long story short, this does work for individual plans, but not for duo/family anymore.

    • thanks for letting me know, was just about to try this again since my old egyptian subscription had lapsed.

so there's no way to get family plans cheaper now… crap

  • +1

    worked for individual , thanks!

  • Thanks! Individual plan works well!

  • $28.18

  • When I change my profile after setting it to India and save the settings, it does not redirect to anywhere. What did I do wrong?

    • I don't think it's supposed to. I did a couple of account renewals on the weekend and after setting country to India I then just opened another tab and went to the gift card redeem page at https://spotify.com/account/redeem

      • Does the address in India matter?
I saw the redeem code page and entered the code but got 'Oops! Something went wrong, please try again.'

        • I just chose Dehli as the location when asked.

  • great

  • Hmm.. 6 months on G2A is sold out.. any suggestions where to get legit 6 month gift card at a similar price?

Or does anyone know if you purchase 2x 12 months does it just give you 18 months or does it refuse to apply the second one because it goes past the 18 month threshold?

  • +1

Successfully redeemed using this site's code: https://driffle.com/spotify-12-months-subscription-in-digita…

  • +2

Need a new hack for Youtube now.

  • I cant find a single free trial VPN to INDIA. Wtf is going on.

    • Use one of the many VPN deals here, that almost pay you

  • +2

    Buyer Beware:
I bought a code from this specific seller a couple months and while the code did work at the time, premium stopped working after a couple of days.

Went to spotify support and asked them what happened and they told me that the spotify code for 12 months was purchased using a credit card. The seller had requested a refund on the code and while this refund was being processed, the code still worked. However, once Spotify refunded the original buyer, they rendered the code invalid which meant that my premium subscription was no longer working.

Went to request a refund in G2A but the seller was taking way too long and kept requesting for screenshots of proof of things which i had provided (spotify chat, code not working, etc.). Got told that no refund would be provided because the goods that i bought were provided (even though it wasn't valid).

    • Dispute the charge with your financial institution, or always use PayPal to pay for those reasons.
Unlucky if you paid with crypto.

      • I did use paypal. They said the exact same thing.

    • -3

      lol

  • I tried but it won't accept my credit card.

    • +2

OK signed up with driffle instead. Worked! $30.33 on Wise card.

  • Sorry I’m not too bright with Spotify. Paste the code where?

  • If we buy two codes, do the years stack?

    ?

  • I have updated my country to India and went to see the premium plan. It is around Rs. 139/month so Rs.1668 per year which is equal to around AUD $29.00. will it work with Indian credit card and pay monthly or have to go with the gift card option?

    Got this email tonight:

We’re updating our Terms of Use (“Terms”) to clarify your rights and to provide more information to you. The updated Terms are effective as of September 26, 2025, for existing users. You can read them here. Here are a few key changes:

We have clarified that you may only access the version of the Spotify service available where you live at the applicable price set for that version of the service

Looks like they want to close the loophole
