Ozito Reciprocating Saw Kit for $129 Delivered / C&C / in-Store @ Bunnings

210

This has been on the bunnings website for a while and no one has mentioned it here surprisingly. It’s brushless and comes with a 2.5Ah battery, fast charger, and a case. Not as good as the $44 deal last year but will do for some people who needs it now like me. I think the stock is limited so grab it while you still can.

    Recipient saw hey?

  • Reciprocating saw?

Recipient saw sounds like someone is going to be in pain

What a ripper of a deal

Have a brushed unit I bought to get me by till I found my Makita unit, which took 2 yrs to find, left it in the roof while working there, thing has lasted ok, brushless one should be better, the included battery won't get you far!

    • What made you go back up into the roof?

      • Further changes and extra insulation, I'm building while living in my house.

How does this compare to this one:

In regards to cutting through tree branches ~8cm thick?

    • +5

I've had the brushed version for years and it gets through 8cm branches no worries.

Edit: runs better on a bigger Ah battery.

      • Sweet. I have 2 x 4ah batteries at home. Thanks for the response mate 👌🏻
@bym what blade do you recommend to cut 8cm branches?

      • Same, it's been great, goes through everything, just be sure to use a 4.0ah batt & decent blade.

    • +2

Blade choice goes a long way.

  • I got the one last year but it didn't have a case like the thumbnail for this one

  • +5

Wish I got the skin last year for $44. Can't justify it for the infrequent use :(

  • Could this cut through colorbond?

    • No you need a nibbler.

    • In my experience, yes.

I have the world-renowned ;-) Hychika from the deal below and it's taken a beating.
Has made many hundred of cuts with a pruning blade (general lopping and making kindling) , plus jobs like cutting up an old galvanised water tank into manageable pieces.

Quality of cut will depend largely on blade quality and even a decent blade may not give a neat edge on sheetmetal. .

    • Yep - with some Diablo blades it goes through like butter

    • +1

Yes it will. Do you want to? No, it's not a precision tool. It will make a mess if any type of clean cut

  • +2

Good timing. Some of us might need this after the cyclone.

    • Taking overhanging tree down in morning🌳🌪
      Better to be prepared.

This is a ripoff. Should have jumped on this 9 months ago

    • so wait for may 2025?

      • +1

It only went this low because they were price matching ALDI. You'll have to wait until ALDI have a similar deal this year, hopefully. I'm waiting for this to happen too.

I'm pleasantly surprised by Ozito tools.

I own a mix of dewalt and bosch blue, but recently started buying Ozito 18V tools for things I use less often. I have to say I've given a few of them a real flogging—the oscillating tool and the reciprocating saw—and they just keep working.

All I'll say is the blades that come with them are junk; you'll only get one or two good cuts out of them. But this is to be expected with any tool brands that aren't known for manufacturing quality blades.

  • Got one on the weekend. Didn't know it was a good price. Until I saw the brushless one on its own was 169. Asked the guy at the counter who confirms it's the same saw just cheaper and with battery.

There was 1 left on the shelf at Gladesville NSW after I bought mine. Outside the toolshop on the toolshop barrier wall.

Used already on some 10mm roots while replanting. Amazing tool

    I have this one:

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-cordless-reciproca…

Is my one a brushed model? Or is it the same as in this bundle?

    • Ozito PXC 18V Cordless Reciprocating Saw PXRSS-400 - Skin Only $68.90 if you already have a battery. Brushed version

      • Yes but where do you see it says brushed? I tried to check the specs and the manual and couldn't find any mention. Or because it does not say "brushless" we assume it is brushed?

I'm considering "upgrading" to the one posted here but only if the skin is actually better.

        • +1

I can confirm. The one I got in the pack here is the same model number as the brushless $169 skin only one in the store.

Bunnings said it was a promo pack hence the cheap price

          • @Thinkswithelbow: Cool, thanks. Sounds like worth the upgrade then.

            • @gadgetguy: I've got the brushed version too but don't have any desire to upgrade as it serves me well and I don't see any real benefit.

Brushless has the rotating handle, but my wrist also rotates. Maybe better battery life I've never gone through a full battery pruning.

Brushless also probably won't perform any better seeing it has 2500 strokes/minute, which is less than brushed at 2600.

Late to the party but just FYI there is a massive difference between the brushed and the brushless. I have used the brushed one several times, got it for my mum to use in the garden and i own a brushless version myself.

The brushed has nowhere near the power of the brushless, it will stall easily cutting thicker things. If all you are doing is cutting the occasional 2-3 cm branch its probably fine the brushless it a way more powerful and useful tool though.

        • +1

If it does not say its brushless you should assume its brushed, generally speaking companies aren't shy to point the feature out when possible.

  • Was looking for one to remove some shrubs - big and small. Looking at the brushed version thats cheaper but this seems like a decent deal for rhe brushless version. Dont need the battery and charger though
