        • Nah im not really in the cards game, last card i had opened was in 2023.

      • Hi. Have you got the 30k bonus points? I only have 130k points landed on my account so far. Thanks.

      • Hi @Succulent CN Meal. I've seem other people who applied via the Amex 120k welcome points offer posted that the 30k bonus points came together with the 120k welcome points. I've applied via the same 130k points offer as you did, and I've only seen 130k welcome points landed on my account so far, but not the additional 30k bonus point. Have you got your 30k bonus points? Thanks.

        • Same as you with only 130k, Customer service said to wait 6 weeks, this was 2 weeks ago, So fingers crossed it comes through.

          • @Succulent CN Meal: Which customer service did you call? I was choosing between the 130k points and the more straightforward 120k points (clicking through the 100k points link on velocity website and shown 120k points personalised) offers, and decided to go with the 130k one. But it seems that everyone who applied for the 100k/120k points offer got the 30k bonus points credited to their accounts together with the 100k/120k points on the same day. It makes me nervous now.

            • @We: i used chat on velocity website

              • @Succulent CN Meal: 6 weeks just passed for me, and I still haven’t got the additional 30k points. Have you got your 30k bonus points?

                • @We: unfortunately not.

                  • @Succulent CN Meal: I've read their T&Cs again, and am sure that we qualify for the additional 30k points. But I'm not sure if it's easy for their customer service representative to credit the points.

                  • @Succulent CN Meal: Hello! Have you followed-up with the Velocity chat on missing points? I just contacted them and they told me the same, wait 6 to 8 weeks and then contact them back if points not received.

                    • +1

@goodfella: Hi, i never received the 30k. i think im just gonna let slide. Cant be bothered dealing with their customer service

    • +1

Have tried this a bunch of times now across different browsers and keep getting either 100k or 120k when clicking into link via the amex 130k banner. Anyone else with the same issue?

      • +1

Same for me. Only 120K points on offer.

      • +1

Same for me, just 120k upon clicking the Amex 130k banner

  • New to churning. I have had an Amex for a very very long time the free one.
So looks like that wont work.
Is it worth opening a new Westpac accoint and going for a WP card as it says exisiting customers can have $49 first year annual fee. Anyone may know? Thanks.

  • Thought i'd have a whirl at applying for the AMEX - got the dreaded, we'll get back to you in 5-10 days so i assume i am declined :(

    • +1

dw i had that also, but after 5 days they approved me.

just give them a call after a few days to follow up.

      meow.

      • i just called them and they said i was "unable to get a positive result". I got declined for the virgin card too. Gosh…the end of churning is suddenly here :(

        • sorry to hear :(

      • Hmm I might call them up and see what's happening with my application….

  • +1

Unexpectedly got approved for the Velocity High Flyer Card

  • I recall that the 18 month rules doesn't apply if you previously held a card from different amex reward program e.g. Qantas. Can someone confirm if this is correct?

    • +1

I think David Jones was the only exception.

  • What is a better deal between Velocity High flyer (80,000 velocity points for 7k spend, $329 annual fee, 2 domestic lounge pass, $129 flight voucher) vs Velocity Flyer card (50,000 velocity points for 3k spend, $149 annual fee, $129 flight voucher)?

    • +1

The better deal is up to you.

Can you spend $3.5k each month for 2 months to get the full points?

Can you take full advantage of 2 domestic lounge pass and $129 flight voucher? Or will you need to go out of your way to fly virgin and use them?

      • Add to that the min $15K limit which will affect your borrowing capacity

  • Has anybody received an email confirmation for this. How do you prove that you signed up if the points don't come through?

  • +1

Was also approved for the Velocity High Flyer Card, last held one in Feb 2024 for reference

    • Did you cancel in Feb 2024 or were approved at that time?

      • I cancelled in Feb 2024

  • I've had the Westpac Qantas but not the Velocity. Am I still eligible? I know it says Qantas up the top but in the T&Cs on the website, it's not very explecitly mentioned.

    • Am I still eligible?

      No.

  • I was denied the Westpac black card around a month ago, is it worth trying to apply for the Westpac platinum card now? Cheers

    • +1

When was the last time you applied for a card prior to the Westpac black? Also did Westpac give a reason for the rejection?

      • +1

The same time as I applied for another card and was rejected for them both. However I just applied for the NAB Signature Rewards and was approved within a day :)

  • I know they've got certain purchase exclusions to not get points eg council rates etc But do they exclude prepaid money gift cards, say from Kmart, BigW etc??

    • +1

I'm 99% sure that gift cards bought at Kmart, BigW, etc. will count toward the minimum purchases threshold. I have used Coles Pre-Paid Mastercards to reach purchase limits for AMEX, ANZ and possibly with Westpac a few years ago (can't remember). It could depend on who the "they" are.

    • +1

Gift cards purchased at retailers like BigW, Woolies, Coles do count as "eligible purchases" towards your minimum spend. I did this last night. Purchased a $400 Mastercard Gift Card from Woolworths and paid for my water bill.

  • I have a question about applying for the American Express Velocity Business Card and wanted to ask if anyone who has applied before or has experience can help. I can only activate this bonus points promotion on my Velocity Frequent Flyer account (personal account). However, the terms for the American Express Velocity Business Card state that it should be also to a corresponding Velocity Business account, but the Velocity Business account doesn't have an option to activate this promotion. So, when I apply, should I fill in my Velocity Frequent Flyer account number or my Velocity Business account number to receive the bonus points? Thanks,

  • what counts as a new customer for the virgin money cards? still 12 months? can't find it on the landing page of the CC

    • nvm i also got the conditionally => auto declined. 13 month after last holding card

      • Interesting, Virgin/Citi normally has a 3-6months period Only (just to be safe). There is nothing in writing from them.

  • +2

Held and cancelled last year in Nov 2024. Reapplied last night and have been approved. Looks to still work for churning (for now).

    • I'm guessing you're talking about the Virgin Flyer card?? Or perhaps the High Flyer Card?

      • I thought they had every single card listed in the description and applied for them all last night simultaneously

      • Yep, Virgin Flyer

  • How long do people find the Virgin Money cards take to come?

  • If I already have a Westpac Black card, would I be eligible for this offer if I apply for an Amex or Virgin Flyer card?

  • currently holding NAB QFF CC. Am I eligible to apply for Velocity Flyer card?

  • Tried in January and just now for virgin flyer - rejected twice…

  • I got denied on the velocity flyer card, ive never been denied a card before. Can I ask them for a review, or apply for another one of their cards?

    • Review will tell you the same thing. Being there done that. Applying for another Nab associated card will more than likely get you rejected as well.

  • +2

Eventually got rejected for the Amex Velocity Platinum (they could've just emailed me but they sent me a physical letter which took forever FFS), then applied for the Virgin Flyer and got approved. Last closed the same card in July 2024.

PS for anyone applying, the 5k bonus points trick still works- when you submit the application online don't submit your payslips. You'll get a call the next day (which seems like a scam call tbh but I knew it was coming) saying if you send your payslips to the mentioned email address within 24 hours you'll get 5k bonus points. I got 5k the first time I signed up last year too.

    • How long did you have to wait before the 5k point posted?

      • Honestly I'm not sure- whoever setup my account screwed up and put my full name into the first name field, so it didn't match my velocity account and my points didn't get transferred over for months until they figured it out.

I believe around about the same time as either the first or second batch of 30k points (at the time).

        • whoever setup my account screwed up

          PEBCAK

    • Can you share the email address you had to send it to?

    • Ah, better check my physical mail, it's been close to 10 days and no emails received….

Update, called up, the sent me a unsuccessful letter also lol

First time I have ever been denied a credit card!

  • +2

Got the 30k bonus points today even though I activated it a month after I got my Velocity Platinum Amex.

    • @desktopzero - Same here, it reads as "All in DECC 2025 Campaign"
      What does your do?

      • +1

        same as yours

      • Got my card around the same time as you did, have just activated the offer. How long did it take you to receive the points?

        • I activated 15 days ago approx. Points were posted along with credit card bonus points.

      • I mistakenly forgot to activate before submitting my application. It looks like I've been approved as well - I called them just now and they told me I wouldn't be eligible for the 30k bonus. It looks like I have nothing to worry about?

    • You got the points, before the bonus from velocity platinum amex?

I signed up for the 30k, haven't reached minimum spend for bonus, only got few thousand from the spend. No signs on bonus yet :(

      • I got the bonus 30k credited together with the signup bonus points from the card itself (120k points)

        • ok ty for confirming. Maybe it will come next month's statement. :)

  • Another decline from Virgin here.

I had their card back in Feb 2024. Tried to apply again in July 2024, but I was declined.
This time around, declined again. I guess I'm on their shit list.

    • I got denied last year by Virgin (had previously held the card at least 6 times) - just reapplied now and got conditionally approved based on documents which should be fine.
      I was a bit worried.

    • +1

got conditionally approved, then declined.. wtf

      • You only approved when you get the congratulation sms otherwise consider everything as a pending decline or need more supporting document.

        • yeah, i have never had conditionally approved and then declined before.

shame, I did like the virgin card.

          • @bohn: I’ve had it before and Westpac was notorious for it. Hence I know conditionally approved doesn’t mean anything.

            • @nightelves: yeah I hear u.
personally, in all my churning time, never had it happen to me until now.

now I wait for anz and westpac to become available to me again.

  • I have a Citi prestige card with 25k limit from February that I intend to keep at least for a year. Should I apply for Virgin (my preferred) or Westpac card?

    • +1

Unsure. I do think Virgin's cards are NAB-affiliated somehow. I'm not sure if that helps or hurts in terms of choosing Virgin.

  • Westpac Altitude Platinum just updated points from 60000 to 75000 plus 20000 bonus.
Does this mean for people who applied before and are still not approved will get 75000?

    • You will get 60k

  • Unfortunately we have to say no.

We regret to advise that we are unable to approve your Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card at this time.

    no luck :(

  • +1

Westpac approved in a jiffy (no need for phone calls, payslips emailed in, etc.). Had been just over 24 months since cancelling my last Westpac card. Immediate access to a digital card for online purchases and they said the physical card is "on its way". Westpac > > ANZ when it comes to card application process.

  • how do people get the annual fee paid back pro rata for Virgin. I just tried calling and they said it wasn't possible for my velocity Flyer card because of their policies. I still cancelled so I can go to the next card but be good to learn for next time

  • Anyone get recently approved for Velocity Flyer?

Surprise rejection for me, never signed up to an Velocity or even NAB card before. Even had a few months gap between my last churned card. Income is not a concern - have held cards with 5x higher income requirements

Was thinking maybe they are done with the deal early

    • +1

Just got approved for Velocity High Flyer Credit Card. Very surprising as it is the second time I have been with them in the past 12 months.

      • Thanks for that, guess I'm cooked

  • Declined for Amex, approved for Velocity High Flyer Credit Card. I'll take it and try for Amex again in 90 days.

  • Can you access this offer twice? Once for the AMEX card and get +30K bonus for example and again for the Virgin Card for example and get +20K bonus?

    • Does anyone know the answer to this?

    • +1

Confirming i got both the 30K and 20K.

      • Oh great, thank you for that info. I applied for 2 but was actually only expecting one to get the bonus.

  • Rejected for Amex. Perfect score, no late payments, 20 months since last Amex card, churner. Amex can join the orange man and get (profanity).

    • +1

I could have told you that you'd be declined just based on your post history here

  • +2

    What a pleasant surprise.

Still got credited the bonus 20000 points today together with the bonus 90000 points from my Westpac Altitude Black card even though I activated the offer in March after I had already gotten the card in December.

  • A question on this, if I have activated the offer, applied for the Virgin Flyer card today (conditionally approved). I'll get the bonus 20k VFF points after meeting the $3k spend within the first two months.

Question is am I able to stack this offer and get a further 20k VFF bonus points if I applied for the Westpac Altitude Platinum and met the $4k spend criteria on that card?

  • +1

Anyone received their bonus points for the Velocity High Flyer yet? I haven't received mine (I've received the first month's points for meeting the minimum spend) and I know people had issues last time.

    • Not me. But I'm $1k shy of the minimum spend for the bonus. Did receive the 1 months spend 5xxx points no issues.

      • +2

I received 40k points for first month spend of 3.5k.
I thought the offer was for 30k only for high flyer card?
Also no bonus points yet. Probably after second statement

        • Im going to chase up them for the rewards points

          • +1

@Nohtyp: Recieved 30K bonus points a day after second statement was generated

            • @Ehty: Awesome, good to know. Mine comes on Monday so should have another data point.
