Reaper Sold out after 10 minutes.

TY edited to hellbound to avoid misleading people. That was quick.

Few things. First, PC Case Gear needs to fire their web development team. They clearly have no idea about web application scalability (their website has crashed for every video card launch since at least 2020). Second, Scorptec sold out instantly. I literally refreshed the webpage and it was gone. Did they actually have stock? Third, bit sly by Centre Com. They likely anticipated that the PowerColor Reaper would be the most popular model (due to it being the cheapest), increased the price to $1,199, and then reduced the price back to $1,139 once it had sold out. Ultimately, absolute clown show as per usual with every video card launch.

Yeah, I noticed that the reaper listing is down to $1139 now but I won't be editing it on my post. Surely this is a breach of ACL or something - I really hope they don't plan to keep it at $1139 while it's OOS and then bump it to $1199 as soon as it's available again.

      • Yeah, it's pretty dodgy. However, I'll give credit where credit is due. At least Centre Com provides free shipping and reserves the stock if you choose to pay via direct deposit to avoid credit card surcharges.

        • Yea that's how I bought my 9800x3d. That CPU is 130$ more expensive now. I remember people were crying about posting RRP deals here. I got the second shipment of 9800x3d from centrecom

  • Is it worth upgrading from 7900 xt?

    • +8

      no

    • If you want FSR4 - yes. For anything else, absolutely not.

    • +1

      no

    • +1

Nope, About same performance except 9070xt has better ray tracing and FSR 4.

    • +1

      No

  • Wonder if you will jack the price of all 9070 XT after this first round of GPUs sold.

    • 100%. retailers already confirmed that they're getting special rebates to hit MSRP for launch stock. 'normal' prices should be around 1.4k for a few months before dropping back down, and OzRRP will be back.

      • -2

even at $1400 9070 XT is still a good buy considering 5070 TI price is hovering around $1700 and around $1900 on eBay - 5070 TI is at most 10% ahead in performance anyway.

    Got a Saphire Pulse

    • Both ship on May 2, so a bit of a wait here.

      • I'm not convinced the ETA is correct. The Sapphire Pulse is still in stock at other retailers (although, at $1,299), and surely they're all sourced from the same distributors? It'd be worth the gamble if unsuccessful with purchasing the ASRock Steel Legend and PowerColor Reaper, as the Sapphire Pulse (which was meant to be an MSRP model) has a beefier cooler.

        • Honestly, not too sure, but that's what the website says at least. Quite a few suppliers (PLE for example) did not even have the Sapphire cards on launch, and only as pre-order, so maybe the stock wasn't as good for those as the PowerColor cards

  • and here I thought GPU prices were ridiculous 2 years ago… pats rog strix 4090

  • Yeah also got me exited for a sec. Not going to lock up my money for a month. Pretty shitty release day. You can't tell me they had hundreds or thousands in the country at MSRP, yet they are gone within seconds at 1am in the morning.

    • yeah 1000s of people were lining up online to buy them dude - its like when big name concert tickets get sold out within an hour.

      • -1

The solution would be to at least have more than one model at $1139 for the first day or week. But it looks like only 10 or 20% (1 model) was available at this price. Anyways now I'll be waiting for a real deal not just MSRP.

        • cheapest 5070 TI is like $1700 now - any 9070 XT priced at $1350 or lower is a deal - and you can get one from eBay if you got eBay Plus

  • I wonder later on if it’s possible, like in the past with AMD GPUs such as the 5700 (which could have its BIOS flashed to a 5700 XT), to perform a similar BIOS flash on the AMD 9000 series GPUs since they're the same die.

  • +2

Well that AMD pricing is disappointing. AMD's cheaper than NVIDIA's in other countries. Same price here.

Will it run on a seasonic 650w gold with a ryzen 3600? Or definitely need the recommended 750w

  • +7

This is… Not a deal? At $200 (20%) over MSRP + GST, it's out-of-the-gate price gouging from our PC retailers. Definitely worth waiting for prices to reduce or look at last gen cards.

    • +3

Its funny how many people think we live in the US. One countries MSRP doesnt apply world wide. It very rarely has for the vast majority of purchases unfortunately.

      • Yet the 7900 xtx was on sale for 1350

        • -1

4070 TI is on sale for that price too now

      • +1

For Australia its 10% GST + 10%+ shipping/import costs that drive the cost up. So actual MSRP is always $200-$300 more

People were expecting this card to come out for just over $1000 - which is just ignorant

        • Why is there an extra 10% randomly thrown in there? And the cost of shipping shouldn't be more than 10-20 bucks per unit tops if you bulk move them.

          • @l3wis992: Store profits

          • @l3wis992: not randomly - the 10%+ is for shipping/import costs - alll major brand goods are like this except stuff from Aliexpress

    • for last gen cards are you referring to the 7800 XT for under $750 or the 4070 Super for over $1000?

      https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-dual-radeon-rx-7800-xt-oc-… - $729
      https://www.centrecom.com.au/galax-geforce-rtx-4070-super-1-… - $1039

  • 3 years ago i could have bought a house for half what it costs now. It sticks, but the market has changed. Maybe we can wait it out and see things improve, but for now, this is the crap we have to deal with
