  • Can anyone vouch for this mobile ?

    • It's good for the price, would recommend it
      Nice light earbuds as well

      • +1

How do you find the camera quality, especially in low light situations?

        • +4

          Very good when still.

Any movement and its pretty meh.

    • -4

Can vouch for her that she doesnt sleep around.

    • +11

      This is an Australian model

      • -1

The exact quote is "this stock is sourced from Australian suppliers". Which is not the same as saying it is sourced through official Australian Motorola wholesale channels, only that Mobilciti isn't importing it itself, it is buying it off someone else who is. That wording does not reassure me that this is a model Motorola is specifying, for Australia, importing, supporting and providing a guarantee for.

I'm not saying its not. Only that Mobilciti is using a form of words that look like they are trying to conceal an unpleasant truth about how and where they source this product, rather than revealing it.

Last night i dreamed apple has realised its greediness and selling iphone with airpod and charger and case all in for $543

    • +6

Keep dreaming, as the reality will bite you in your a$$

    • +1

New Mac mini and macbook air are great value, but not the phones.

      • -5

You should remember who came out with long software update schedules on mobile phones first , it wasn't android.

        • +2

          I remember well.
          And I still miss BlackBerry.

    • You are kinda right, the 543 is the discount, $2500 - $543. = $1956 bargain!!

  • +2

5 years of OS updates (up to Android 19) and 6 years of security updates.

    According to Motorola:

Keep up with the latest version of Android by getting five OS upgrades—and six years of security updates—guaranteed through 2029.

  • Looks good what would be the Google pixel equivalent?

    • +4

There are no budget Pixel models which would be near this price

  • Would this be an upgrade to an Samsung S22 Ultra?

    • I'm also curious.. I actually have an s20 but close enough..

      • +1

        100% Recommend the "upgrade".
        -worse camera
        -worse build quality
        -better QoL
        -better absolutely everything else

    • +1

No, this is a budget Motorola. That is an expensive flagship model.

      • That was a flagship model.

        • +3

Ex flagships are typically better than current midrange. Your processing chip might put out similar numbers now but everything else was built premium with the ex flagship. Screens, ram, camera, material feel, water resistant ratings etc.

It would take at least 4-5 generations before I'd consider swapping a flagship for a budget midrange.

    • +4

      GeekBench: 3657 (v5.1)
      GeekBench: 2184 (v5)

s22 ultra almost double the speed

    • No, pretty much everything about the Moto will be worse than your S22U bar software support.

    • +1

No lol. This is literally a budget phone.

    • No

  • Worth getting this or wait to see if the Nothing 2a goes back to under $400?

    • +1

      Nothing 2a $400 amazon

      • +1

Will imports work in Australia? Seems to be shipped from germany

        • +1

Yes it is all inclusive if you buy from Amazon . It’s their responsibility. It will be delivered to your address

    • Nothing 2a bit faster but no wifi 6e

    • You might have less luck sourcing a 2a locally since the 3a is now out. The last 2a sales were likely clearing out stock.

  • +2

thanks OP, I'm trying to price match at JB now, let's see. then use the $30 perks.
no luck - JB Hifi won't price match promo codes.

  • 8 gb expandable ram? How do I do expansion?

    • +3

Virtual RAM. If you fill up the real RAM, the OS treats up to 8GB of storage as very slow RAM that it can swap stuff in and out of as required. Windows used to do the same when RAM was expensive to increase. Now Android does it because RAM in phones can't be increased.

      • +1

Windows still has virtual memory, as does any real operating system. Android uses Linux, so adding swap-space was always an option.
If google has not used it, there must be good reason.

        • +1

If google has not used it, there must be good reason.

          It's a so-so reason.

The TLDR is that no single app needs that much ram, and the vast majority of people only swap between 1~3 apps in any single screen on session. Virtual memory is still VERY slow compared to REAL ram.
So rather than keep more apps ready for (slower) fast switching, google choose to keep fewer apps ready for (very) fast switching.

I find the virtual memory to be handy when docking my phone, since with a monitor keyboard and mouse, I change between MANY more apps, and even some large excel spreadsheets can stress the stock RAM.

When using it as a handheld PC\phone, I usually disable it.

    • +1

It is just marketing rubbish, it is just like pagefile/swap file. UFS speed is nowhere near RAM speed let alone these budget phone doesn't even use latest UFS 4.0

  • -3

Wouldn't pay this much for Moto unless it's a 700$ RRP phone. I would. Only pay 299$ for this phone

  • +1

how does this compare with an S21 FE?

    • +2

Go to gsmarena and hit compare.

  • Does Officeworks price beat?

  • Any recommendations for a phone with dual physical sims in a value price range like this one?

  • +6

I've just bought this phone in the last deal for 350 ish and it's amazing phone. My G84 audio output started playing up after some water made its way in. this is a pretty decent phone and Motorola buds are amazing. I've never owned any Bluetooth earbuds before so I cannot compare but the noise isolation and bass boom is amazing. I highly recommend this phone for this price. also don't forget the karate chop flash light and wrist twist camera is amazing.

    • Why this over g85 with oled for about the same price?

      • +1

I suppose this doesn't have the curved display, (which many seem to dislike), is IP68 water resistant, which I don't believe g85 is? - could be wrong. Also, don't believe the g85 has wireless charging.

Also, as much as I personally love the look of the OLED screens, every phone I've had with one has developed burn-in:
        Samsung Galaxy
        Nubia Z17
        Poco F3
        Galaxy a33
        Motorola Edge 40

      • OLED is better under sunlight

      • Cant command the g70. Bought the g85 from last deal for work. Oled screen is bright and sharp. Colour is saturated and I actually prefer the screen compared to my iPhone 15 pro max and now use it more even it's a tad slow

    • +2

Rocking the G54 and the karate chop flashlight is one of its most convenient features

      • I'd be worried about flinging it into the wall.

      • Like it on the G32 as well.

      • What is it?

        • +1

To turn the camera led light on to use as a torch, just hold the phone and make a short chopping motion. It can be done while the phone is in standby mode (with the screen off).

I can turn the torch on in just 0.5s as opposed to waking the phone, sliding down the notification shade and tapping the torch icon.

    • +1

Totally agree. Makes my pixel 8 pro OS a pain to use.
I use the motorola gestures heaps.

  • +1

3 days ago it was listed for $396.
Overnight it went up to $497

I managed to get it price matched at $409.

It's quite a decent phone, typical android OS, but I can't seem to update from Android 14 to Android 15 (current version according to a quick search).

This phone isn't stocked in many places and I've been told that it's being discontinued for unknown reasons (apparently Motorola's decision).

I've also read that Lenovo is taking over Motorola, but I'm not going to say it's reliable info.

It comes with a wall plug (USB A), cable, basic clear phone case and wireless headphones.

My car app doesn't allow this phone to store a digital key to start the car, but that's only a nice to have. I don't know if this will also be the case for other cars.

Moving from my Pixel 7 (it drowned), it didn't support having all the background tiles in the same place. (None were transferred across so I had to place them all manually).

This phone supports micro sim and e-sim (possibly dual sim) and expandable storage by micro SD card, to 1TB I think?

So far, I rate it, and I chose it for the price and the IP68 rating. The next cheapest phone I could find with an IP68 rating was a Pixel 7 ($544 from a store in Brisbane, keep in mind that it's already 2-2.5 years old).

Hopefully this info can help people deciding on this phone

      Is Motorola owned by Lenovo?

In October 2014, Google sold Motorola Mobility for $2.91 billion to Lenovo, which excluded ATAP and most of the patents. Lenovo's existing smartphone division was subsumed by Motorola Mobility.

      Motorola Mobility - Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_Mobility

      • +1

Yup, so thanks to Motorola Mobility it remains a USA based sub, but the money still eventually makes its way to lenovo.

    • I am interested. How to price mtch?

  • Can't decide if out of stock or website is crap.. nothing happens when I click on add to cart or buy now.. on chrome or edge…

    • +1

It works. Did you select a colour first?

      • +1

Thanks, I thought so.. tried again (with green this time) and got this.. "An error has happened during application run. See exception log for details.".. refreshed the page and then it worked.

        • +3

The Buy it Now button doesn't work. Add to cart does.

  • There is something wrong with the website. I am getting this:

The account sign-in was incorrect or your account is disabled temporarily. Please wait and try again later.

After I've changed the password then try and log in using that password.

  • Thanks OP! Anyone know more about the protective case that comes with it? Is it just a simple clear case?

    • +1

clear plastic gel back cover just unpacked mine

      • Awesome, wasn't a fan of the frosted one they used to have.

  • Plus the sweet $3 cashback from Topcashback in 12 weeks. Which if my maths is right is not 3%.

  • I recently bought the neo edge 50 for my dad and my mum said she liked it. Can someone let me know how this compares to the neo edge 50?

  • My Pixel 5 is on its last limbs, will this feel like a downgrade?

  • my moto g50 fusion got android 15 2 weeks ago so guess i’m set for another 12 mths.

    • 5 months after release doesn't sound good (Android 15 came out 15th October 2024).

I doubt that the g50 fusion will get it in 12 months, usually they release updates for the new devices first and then they will update older devices, so I'd expect ~13 months then ~14 etc.

  • Anyone who can compare this vs s20fe?

    • This has bigger screen

  • +1

    hello

  • would it stack with FRENZY 10% off code?

  • -1

Is it 5G? Better than 4G?

  • Is this plagued by the Bluetooth audio issues that the G84 has?

  • -2

    @AHUANG
Any chance of reducing the price instead of needing a coupon code?

Would rather give yourselves the $$$ but have a JB Hi-Fi Gift Voucher I need to use so hoping to price match…

    Thanks t0ny84

  • Clicking buy now results "An error has happened during application run. See exception log for details." how to buy it?

    • Use the add to cart button

  • Can this phone be used for NFC contactless payments, such as Google Pay?

Some articles I'm reading say that it can't, because it doesn't have an "eSE" chip.

    • oops really? lmost bought it!

    • wanna know before buying as well.

    • Please share the answer once you fond out.

  • I wish I waited for this deal instead of getting the Edge 50 neo 5G. No SD card and no wireless charging haven't been the best for me.

  • $342 delivered with code MCMAR25
