I free charge to your electric washing machine. LMAO

  • Crap - just placed an order on a seal…

    • Buy another and forego the deposit?

      • Getting mine through a novated lease so it's a bit of extra work dealing with the company. I've sent them (byd automotive) an email to see if they can include my order (or if it is included if I pay for it in that date range).

        • -1

Its not going to save you much, not even $200 i wouldn't cancel an order over it :)

          • @adrian2093: Not true. It will depend on the vehicle and how much you drive - It can be significant

            • -1

@freeb1e4me: I'm meaning this deal, has a value of under $200, not worth trying to place a new order just to get this free charging deal etc.

            • @freeb1e4me: It'll be $200 or about 1500-1900km worth of electricity. Not ground breaking really. It's like throwing a free granny charger. Those deals that include a 7kw charger would be better since you can sell them for more than $200

          • @adrian2093: Charge fox chargers in my area are either free 7kw shopping mall ones or 50kw ones not near anything so you'd just sit in the car or have a petrol station snack

Going interstate you mainly use tesla/bp/eevie.

Being on a novated lease aswell things can get pretty annoying when you have to make changes, I wouldn't loose sleep if you can't get this.

        • Out of interest, which novated lease company are you using and what interest rate did you negotiate?

          • @freeb1e4me: I'm not sure I'll bother cancelling. It would be great if they sort me out over email but it may not be worth the hassle considering I'll likely by granny charging from home anyways.

I ended up with a 9.25% rate with Oly (also forgoing brokerage - not sure the value) which was leagues ahead of what they originally quoted me and better than all initial quotes from other companies. I didn't really bother negotiating with other companies though. Not sure how well my rate compares…

Also, if you're bothered I think you can get better rates by financing through a bank and managing the lease yourself (although I am not sure how this works).

            • @Flapjack Fire: Thanks 9.25% is good

            • @Flapjack Fire: How long is your lease? I got the same rate for 24 months so roughly in the same ballpark. But my company has an exclusive deal with SG Fleet so I cannot shop around.

Max 7kw AC charging ……… that in itself should be a deal breaker

      • Why so? Most people live with granny chargers/7kw at home. Anything higher and you need to have 3 phase on your house, now unless you got a pool or industrial equipment, your house wouldn't be wired for that.

7kw would already give about 10% charge per hour give or take depending on battery size, you can fill up the car overnight and not need anything faster.

Public 11kw chargers are pretty rare, they're often porsche/Tesla dealers or hotels.

        • Most Public is 22kW. because most shopping centre need 3 phase power.

1 car that has a 7kW AC inverter with 77kWh battery
1 car that has a 11kW AC inverter with 77kWh battery
with 3 phase 22kW public charger, the difference in a day is that you can charge an additional car and that's if charger is outputting the correct voltage.

  • love a saucy chinese EV post but was hoping for more discounts towards EOFY

  • There are two types of deals:
    * 1: deals that make you sing
    * 2: deals that make you laugh

    This deal makes me cry

  • +3

Wow this is worth about $200 if that.

    • +3

Saving $200 is a weird reason for a neg imo.

      • +1

it's promo to get you to buy a freaking EV

it's not even worth posting, not a "deal"

neg completely warranted, especially when they bait and switch you, free charging for a year my ass!

  • +1

Misleading title. 350kWh of public charging included with purchase is probably more realistic. Still a bargain compared to what was on offer before. That's about five full 'tanks'

    • +2

      it's an utterly dishonest promo

      it's not a bargain it's a dodgy promo

  • So this is a bit like offering free meals for a year, capped at five bowls of rice?

From their site: "Enjoy 1 Year Free Charging" "you'll receive 1 year of free charging with Chargefox, Australia's largest EV charging network. That's a whole year of worry-free, sustainable driving"

Then in the tiny small print for the first time "DC Charging is capped at 330kWh limit within the 1 year subscription term."

    • even Geely is offering more - 1000kWh on their preorders

  • +3

Not much of a deal and it’s presented misleadingly. Capping this at 330kWh means it’s about 7-10 recharges of an EV like the Atto 3, so it’s not 1 year of free charging. It’s 330kWh of free charging.

    • Worth so little. Especially if you value your time.

      Sneaky deal though.

If someone falls for this, they'd also be up replying to emails from Nigerian king.

  • There was s similar deal with Tesla except Telstra have there own supercharger network they dont’ need a third party, and it was free lift time charging they stoped doing that over 10 years ago but they did offer it with model S and X back then, it says with the car do so if you are lucky to find a model S or X with the lifetime charging you will be set for life :D it’s Rare for people to see those though most people won’t sell a car with a lifetime free charging.

I've revoked my positive vote as they've now reworded it as the initial wording didn't suggested a limit unless you checked down below.

Its now "one year of free charging (or 330kwh)". This is only about $200 of value. I understand a limit as every second uber driver would use this up but I think for a year's charging, it should be closer to 1000 than 330.

    • +2

Yeah, it's honestly pretty shit for a "30 year anniversary" deal. I didn't notice the fine print myself initially. I still think their cars offer good value for what you get and the free charging is better than nothing but it's on par with a free set of floor mats that you might get from other brands.

      • it's a shit deal fullstop, not sure what they were thinking, I think they wanted to make a deal without offering a deal. the new Geely EX5 is a better value proposition than the Atto 3 I'm hoping to see more discounting/promotions soon

  • Havent read through all the comments so may have already been mentioned.

BYD have a free 7kw charger ($700 value) with Sealion 6 purchase for today and tomorrow.

I went to the dealerahip today for some test runs and they were politely pushing me to buy to get the deal.

shame nothing will be delivered in time for the NL cut off in two weeks

      • Dealer said they're heavily back ordered for SL6 Premium, but the Essential is availabke immediately.

        • oh I wish they told me this when I called two weeks ago.. they just said "nah no chance"

  • Resale on these things is going to be horrendous.

    • I keep hearing this at the same time I haven't seen anyone get a great deal on a second hand EV and I've been looking.
EVs generally have less parts to break and with the new battery tech there's very minimal degradation, I'd take my chances with an EV than a holden astra

  • Anyone know if the sealion 6 has upgraded their suspension in 2025 by any chance?
