In most cases, your 6 weeks free will be applied 28 days after you join, extending the date you’re “paid to”. The remaining 4 weeks are applied once you’ve held eligible cover for 13 months, extending the date that billing cycle is “paid to”.

    Cheers been waiting for this.
Slightly better than TCB CTM upsize if you value EDR -> QFF

    • I think if your first year premium is under $2000 then TCB CTM $275 cashback is a better deal

      rewards table
      https://www.bupa.com.au/campaigns/health-insurance/edr-bupa-…

      • Majority would be as the yearly premium is before the goverment discount

    • Whats TCB CTM sorry ?

      • I think it is "topcashback, compare the market" - saying you can sign up via compare the market through top cashback.Checking now, you can get $275 cashback for hospital+extras policy.

  • I am with Bupa now, what should i do?

  • Any way Bupa will honour some deals for existing customers? Any suggestions

    • Churn, they will call you when they get the request from other health fund for transfer certificate and possibly match the churning offer

    • call the retention team and ask but they are not very generous on this.
best I have had was 2 weeks free.

      • When i churned from the Frank free 14 weeks deal , they called me and offered an extra 6 weeks free which i accepted.

        • -1

How to do this ? Pls explain so that I’ll get some benefit. Do I need to choose to apply other deal and then they will call me. Is it like home loan refinance that they will talk to us always before accepting the transfer

          • @Ozfanmel: When you churn to another health fund, you can tick a box to allow new health fund to contact old health fund for transfer certificate which is needed so you dont end up serving waiting periods again (waiting periods carry over). They will contact old health fund and then you will get a call from retention team

            • @easternculture: Okay sure my intention is stay with Bupa but want to get free weeks as you got. That’s why

              • @Ozfanmel: sharing back to you - prompted me to ring them now. talk to retention team. they matched Medibank 6 weeks + 6 weeks, not the vouchers but still decent.

    • Yeah few months ago I rang them to let them know I was leaving for Medibank to take up one of their offers and to make sure they don't charge me another month. They matched the free weeks offer from Medibank.

      • I’ll try this option and see if I get success

how much you all paying for a group of family of 4? i am paying 340 per month for Silver Hopital cover with 60 boost extra, is it too much?

    • Nope, i pay 400 for silver hospital only for a family of 3

  • How does switching insurance work in terms of waiting period?

    • +1

Carries forward provided you and/or previous health fund send new health fund the transfer certificate

  • Does being a spouse on a policy count as "hold a policy"?

  • -3

bupa just increased my premium by $5 a month.

  • How does this compare to the recent Medibank deal?

Given you get the 6 weeks free after 28 days and your 'paid to' date is extended by 6 weeks. Does this mean its better off paying fortnightly/monthly rather than annually?

  • Ughhh signed up for TCB $275 2 days ago with see u

  • +1

thanks OP, going to churn to this now

The EDR points are only given after you paid premium for 60 days (excluding any free days).

That means to qualify for both bonus you will need to stay active for 102 days
    [ 28 days (paid) + 42 days (free) + 32 days (paid) ]

So for 60 paid days you get 102 days of coverage plus up to $700 in EDR.

With other offers its often quite easy to get 6 weeks free by paying 4 weeks. So 28 paid days to get 70 days of coverage.

The difference between this deal, and others in the market is you have to fork out extra 32 days of premium in exchange for the EDR points. In my case, I have to fork out extra ~$409 and to ge EDR bonus worth $500.

Is it worth it? Sort of
Is it better than other deals? Not quite. Might as well churn to another 6 week free offer

    • In contrast, the medibank deal is slightly better.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/896824

Of which you pay 42 days to get 6 weeks free plus up to 50k live better points. Better in the sense that you only fork out 14 days of extra premium to get 50k live better points.

    • Agree with the above. The offer is a little too complex — plus, we all know how difficult Bupa is to deal with if you need to chase for missing points etc — refer the Bupa mega complaint thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/836289

    • 60 days include the free days.
Did it last time and this is what i was told

      • 60 days include the free days

Not according to the current terms (see right at the end of this quote):

All Eligible Customers will collect Up to 140,000 Everyday Rewards points (equal up to $700 Everyday Rewards dollars) which will appear in their Everyday Rewards Account within 30 days of all eligibility criteria being met. The number of Everyday Rewards points you are entitled to is dependent on the value of your first year’s premiums for the Eligible Bupa Health Insurance Policy you hold at the time of meeting all eligibility criteria and paying 60 days of premiums by direct debit (60 days does not include any free cover periods).

Like you, in the past, my experience has been that the free days were included in the day count for EDR, but not this time, it seems.

      • -1

Yeah, they picked this up. The promo was too easy otherwise, lol

        • -2

And now it's too hard. Bupa will get less customers as a result. It's always a fine line.

    • How about with the Cashrewards 10% too, I am coming out way on top with that too

      • +1

Yeah the deal is sweerneded if you can stack both cashback and EDR bonus (both need a minimum of 102 days of cover according to the T&Cs)

Common understanding is cashback is no longer valid if a promo code used (unless the code is clearly specified to stack with cashback)

I could not see any part of the Cashrewards T&Cs saying anything about Promo code, so it's unclear…

I suggest taking a full screenshot of the T&Cs as an evidence if they use "promo code exclusion" to deny your cashback

        • Yeah I saved the T&C's as a PDF, hopefully it comes through!!

      • +1

It won't work because the link from cash rewards will take you to a Bupa site that has no field to enter your everyday rewards number or promo code but if you go direct, the box is visible to put in.

        • That's strange as my page refreshed, then took me back to my quote page to checkout, showing that the Cashback was activated.

  • I just signed up online and used the promocode (advised an email will be sent soon to confirm my new PHI cover details).

The TnCs says I need to provide my Everyday Rewards account details on sign up (or within 30 days) but it never asked for it? Hope I didn't miss a section somewhere…

Guess I'll just have to wait for the welcome email or worst case, call them…

  • I was with Bupa less than 12 months ago on single cover, long shot but does anyone know if my wife takes out family policy would we still be eligible for the deal?

  • Do you guys know if Bronze Plus Simple Hospital $750 Excess combined with Starter Extras eligible for 6 Weeks Free offer?

    • +1

Yes it is. confirmed with bupa

  • -3

When I go though CTM, BUPA isn't an option for me.
I popped in the extras I was after and basic hospital but no BUPA?
    Also - isn't the current promo 10 weeks? EVERYDAY10WF

  • FYI we had a nightmare last year getting our points from BUPA

  • -1

Also 12 month exclusion period, yuck

    • Not if you have held private cover for the past 12 months, waiting periods are waived.

      • -2

Not the waiting periods, the offer has a 12 month exclusion period. The offer isnt viable for anyone that has held Bupa policy in last 12 months. Yuck.

  • +1

Alright we did this! Saved Approx $600 a year on a comparable hospital + extras policy

    Don't forget Cashrewards 10%!!!!
Your cashback is on its way!
    AUD 509.29
Estimated approval: Up to 95 days

Pretty stoked to have Cashrewards enabled tonight! Plus I will get Approx $600 Rewards Dollars

    • Remember you need to be on the same cover for at least 102 days (in total including the free weeks) :)

To be eligible for 10% cashback there is also a specific clause saying you must pay 60 days worth of premium, excluding any free days. Which also aligns with the minimum of 102 days of cover for EDR bonus mentioned above

      • That's fine, I won't be changing health funds for at least another 12 months

    • Going through cashrewards /shopback does not allow me to access the promo as it takes you to another link which excludes the EDR field. How did you manage to get the EDR through cashback?

  • +2

Thanks. Think I've finally decided to go witb bupa on this deal. Plus cashback and reward points it should be good deal. I'm on medibank extras only policy. Happy with that. Hoping to keep that even as I join bupa hospital plus extras.

  • -1

Im unable to get the cashback working as when I click from cashrewards, there is no way to put the promo code
