Terms & Conditions

When does the promotion run?
This Promotion commences at 00:01 (AEDT) on 10 March 2025 and ends at 23:59 (AEDT) on 31 March 2025 (“Promotion Period”).
eBay reserves the right to cancel the offer at any time as set out in the Changes clause below.

Who is eligible for this Promotion?
“Eligible Sellers” means sellers who:
do not have a current eBay Basic, Feature or Anchor Store subscription;
have Australia or New Zealand as their registered address on eBay.com.au (the “Site”);
have an active eBay Plus membership. The eBay Plus Terms and Conditions will apply in respect of your membership;
receive an invitation from eBay to participate in this promotion;
activate the Promotion by either clicking “Accept offer” on this Terms and Conditions page or clicking “Get offer” under the “Promotional Offers” section of their My eBay account; and
received confirmation that “you’ve accepted the offer”.
Sellers whose eBay accounts are temporarily or indefinitely suspended, made inactive or are subject to listing restrictions, or whose seller performance level is Below Standard, whether prior to or during the Promotion Period, are not eligible for this Promotion.

This Promotion will only apply to the eBay account that receives the invitation, and is not transferable, exchangeable or assignable to any other eBay account.
What is the Promotion?
The Promotion entitles Eligible Sellers to 50% off Variable Fees (which is a component of Final Value Fees as defined below) on the sale of three (3) Eligible Listings sold during the Promotion Period (the “Promotion”). For the avoidance of doubt, if the promotion is not activated by the end of the "Promotion Period", it shall be forfeited by you.
“Eligible Listings” means listings that are:
newly listed on the Site during the Promotion Period (i.e. it cannot be an item that has been automatically relisted or relisted as a Good ‘Til Cancelled (“GTC”) listing);
listed in multi-quantity or single quantity fixed price or auction format only; and
not listed in one of the Excluded Categories (as defined below).
For the avoidance of doubt, the discounted Variable Fees will only be applied to the first 3 Eligible Listings that are sold during the Promotion Period. For any subsequent sales, standard eBay fees will apply.

Once you have accepted the offer, the Promotion will be automatically assigned to your account and will be visible within My eBay. The Promotion will only apply to Eligible Listings listed by the eBay account the Promotion is assigned to.
The discount will automatically apply to all Eligible Sellers and Eligible Items (up to the maximum, if applicable) during the Promotion Period, in most cases. If the discount does not automatically apply once an Eligible Item has been sold, please allow 24 hours for your account to be credited. Any dispute about discounted Final Value Fees must be submitted to eBay in writing within 60 days of the date you incurred such charge, otherwise you waive such dispute and such charge will be final and not subject to challenge.

Final Value Fees are the selling fees charged on the sale of an item, calculated as a percentage of the total sale amount paid per item (item price plus postage and handling charges) called a “‘Variable Fee”’, plus a fixed charge of $0.30 per order (incl. GST for non-store subscribers) (“Final Value Fee”). More information about eBay selling fees without an eBay store subscription can be found here.

What exclusions apply?
Items listed in the following categories are excluded from the Promotion: Websites & Businesses for Sale (11759), Aircraft (63676), Boats (26429), Caravans, Motorhomes (32633), Cars (29690), Motorcycles (32073), Trucks, Commercial Vehicles (6049), Real Estate (10542), Services (316), Flights (3253), Tickets (1305), Travel (3252), Gift Cards (172009) (together, the “Excluded Categories”).
This Promotion does not apply to:
listings created before the Promotion Period even if they are scheduled to start during the Promotion Period;
listings scheduled to start after the Promotion Period ends;
listings that are relisted during the Promotion Period, either manually, through the automatic relist function, or the Good ‘Til Cancelled function;
listings that are listed during the Promotion Period but do not sell and are relisted outside of the Promotion Period;
any item sold before the Promotion Period or before the Registration Date; and
listings in the Classified Ad format.
The Promotion only applies to Variable Fees (a component of your Final Value Fees). For the avoidance of doubt, the Promotion does not apply to the $0.30 (incl GST) fixed order fee for non-store subscribers (or otherwise have registered for a tax exempt status with eBay), fees for optional features or services (including Feature Fees), international selling fees or any other fees set out on the Site, as varied from time to time. See our help page on Selling fees without an eBay Store, for more information.
You may be excluded from the Promotion if your eBay account is subject to listing restrictions, suspended, restricted or made inactive, or if you fall below eBay’s minimum performance standards, prior to or during the Promotion Period.

    It's a start I guess. Assuming you're lucky enough to get an invite.

    Edit: I've got the banner but clicking doesn't take you to accept promotion offer, just to the create a listing page.

  • +1

    Targeted?

    • think it's still rolling out, banner was on my home page, but under "Promotional offers" nothing yet

  • +3

    Could someone post a link to the "acceptance" page?

  • +1

    Direct link to accept the promotion, anyone?

  • +10

    Something to be mindful of, is that the item needs to be sold DURING the promo period, as opposed to what happened in the past where you just had to list it during the promo period.

    These seller promos keep getting worse and worse

    • Good point

      (The emphasis should probably include 'sold', to be super clear)

      Something to be mindful of, is that the item needs to be SOLD DURING the promo period, as opposed to what happened in the past where you just had to list it during the promo period.

    • Yes this is real pain for the casual seller, ebay has been getting alot more non payers recently, so your choice of auction will run the risk of not sold if it runs beyond the period, or go for buy it now but only with about 20 days listing.

      although in the past, sometimes i was able to have the fee refunded when i went beyond the promotion period by simply contacting CS stating i didnt know

      • +1

        stating i didnt know

        Username checks out

      • +3

        Yes, private selling is a pain. Buyers are getting worse. I have got all the below experience in the past couple of months.

        • bidder winning auction then not respond at all.
        • bidder claimed their daughter accidentally won the auction.
        • bidder claimed he thought it was S24 Ultra and don't want to pay while my listing was for S23 Ultra. Probably a genuine mistake. Samsung making them look identical.
        • A scammer won my auction who abuses eBay returns. Scammer had positive feedbacks from sellers screaming how they got scammed. Glad I noticed them and cancelled the order. Method goes like this. They buy the item and later claim it as faulty and initiate return but send identical but a different item they already have. This works best for computer components where other than serial number item will look identical. Seller then have to work with eBay, prove that the returned item is not the same one they sold.

        Last one is worse than all others. After my cancellation, buyer left a negative feedback for me easily. I tried to get the negative feedback removed by contacting eBay but eBay stood with scammer despite me pointing to existing "positive feebacks" from sellers who got scammed. Sellers can't leave negative feedback even if they get scammed.

        I have had good buyers too. It is a hit or miss for me recently. I had to relist auctions. If eBay allows this to continue and not do something to improve the seller experience, they will just sell on gumtree/facebook marketplace. No point in paying fees and still waste time or get scammed.

        • +3

          Haven't bothered with auctions for years (too many late payer, non-paying winning bidders). Just use buy it now with immediate payment required.

          • +1

            @netsurfer: Scammers can still abuse buy it now as well. It is best to read feedbacks and decide whether to send the item or not. Agree that time wasters can be avoided by buy it now listing

            • @ozmma: Users with positive feedbacks don't mean they won't return the items. eBay allows you not to sell to people with negative feedback. I offer full refund for returns (eBay forces us to anyway). However, I do add those people to my do not sell to list in eBay (though I doubt they will buy my items again).

      • I think ebay is trying to address the non payer issue:

        From their selling page:
        **From 11 March, we're testing some changes to the auction experience to help buyers pay quickly and easily for items they've won and minimise the hassle of unpaid items for sellers.

        What's changing

        Bidders on select auctions will need to set up a payment method and delivery address before they can place a bid. After winning an auction, the buyer will have one hour to adjust their checkout details as needed. Otherwise, we’ll automatically process their order using their selected payment method – they don't need to come back and pay.

        The payment methods available when placing a bid will be credit/debit card and PayPal. Buyers can still pay using other methods (including buy now, pay later options) and apply gift cards, vouchers or discount offers by changing their nominated payment method within the 1-hour period after the auction ends.
        **

        • After winning an auction, the buyer will have one hour to adjust their checkout details as needed. Otherwise, we’ll automatically process their order using their selected payment method – they don't need to come back and pay.

          This is a really obvious step - that they should have put in place a decade ago.

          I have never understood why they even allowed bids at all without binding payments to them 🤷🏼‍♂️

        • The idea is OK, but I'm concerned it'll only make the point that the buyer wants to back out is after you've shipped it, and probably after they've received it.

          Even if they claim not as advertised, or never delivered, it might just end up more painful than a non-paying bstard.

    The offer has appeared on my eBay Plus page. Image.

    However, when I click 'Start Selling' it just dumps me into my Seller Hub, and there's no new promotional offer that appears in my Seller Hub Overview.

  • Has anyone succeeded in selling items other than toys or fashion with the current 0% fvf deals? Just using the wrong categories anyway?
    Fashion https://www.ebay.com.au/sellercentre/promo/1017754
    Toys https://www.ebay.com.au/sellercentre/promo/1017755

    Am semi tempted to give it a go but:
    1/ May not appear in searches
    2/ Buyers may not trust use of obviously wrong category
    3/ Might just not work and full fees ensue

    • +1

      Another one you might not have encountered. I've sold items in the past and slightly undercut existing listsings. I've had (what i suspect are) the sellers of those items reporting my listings for any possible (usually false) reason so ebay takes them down, even if the report wasn't true.
      There are some snarky sellers on there

      • Yes, that is a valid point. The dobbing culture

  • +1

    The promotion also appeared on my eBay page. It said the promotion starts on March 10. I listed a new item on the 11th and sold it on the 12th but did not receive the 50% off Variable Fees. So, I assume it probably hasn’t started yet or requires to click somewhere to accept the offer. Hope this helps.

    • You mean this from the Terms…

      Once you have accepted the offer, the Promotion will be automatically assigned to your account and will be visible within My eBay

      • +2

        Cant find accept button from anywhere

        • +1

          Classic eBay stuff up. There isn't one yet.

          • +2

            @MS Paint: Just sold one on eBay which was listed today by clicking the "Start Selling" button from the promotion banner on eBay homepage and got charged usual 13%

  • +4

    I have the banner now but still no way to accept the offer this morning… 🤦‍♂️

  • I can see the banner on my front page. I don't have plus but will sign-up for this offer.
    Can anyone confirm if banner appears, you are eligible for the promotion?

    • +1

      I have eBay Plus and can see the banner but there is no way to accept it. According to the Terms and Conditions (which are accessible) , you must receive an invitation from eBay to participate in this promotion, which I haven't.

      • Thanks. I’ll hold off until I see an offer.

      • +3

        In the past, the mere presence of the banner was the invitation - can speak from experience as I've taken advantage of these deals every time they've been offered since late 2022. Usually the button on the banner takes you to the page where you can accept the offer.

        However, it looks like eBay have screwed something up, which isn't uncommon when it comes to these deals. Wait until someone here says they've been able to accept the offer before you sign up.

  • +6

    Ok, just spent half an hour with an agent on chat. Response below…

    "Thanks for waiting. I have checked the issue from my side, here I would need to escalate the issue to our technical team, I will get back to you via email once I get an update regarding the same."

    Fingers crossed FVF people. 🤞

    • +2

      Upvote for the effort, but eBay are useless so I doubt it'll make any difference to how quickly they fix it.

      • Yeah, fully aware of that, they have no idea what’s going on, especially with seller offers.

        Just kinda over them not offering anything, even for Plus members. It’s been freaking months. Had a few minutes up my sleeve so will see what happens… If anything…

    • +1

      I will get back to you via email

      Trust me. You're not getting an email.

  • I contacted an agent about it. They said you have to be a top seller to be eligible.

    As per t&c:
    - Sellers whose eBay accounts are temporarily or indefinitely suspended, made inactive or are subject to listing restrictions, or whose seller performance level is Below Standard, whether prior to or during the Promotion Period, are not eligible for this Promotion.

    She added here’s how you can be eligible:
    “List your items on eBay and do few sales, make sure you provide a good customer satisfaction on your orders, so your performance stays as Top-rated. There is no specific sales amount or particular number of sales that you need to do to get eligible for this promotion.”

    Very unclear. Shouldn’t show this promo to ineligible sellers then

    • +1

      CS will find anything to say to fob you off as usual. I sold a few things recently with 100% positive feedbacks. Yet no offer in my promotional offers section or inbox. How did they explain why there is no “Accept offer” link said in the T&Cs?

      activate the Promotion by either clicking “Accept offer” on this Terms and Conditions page

      I am thinking marketing department wanted to boost their declining eBay Plus memberships but didn't want to lose profit from FVF fees, so came up with this dodgy offer to suck people back in, but very few people if anybody at all, are eligible…

    • I think they are just making up rabdom eBay BS. If you are getting the banner it should work for you.
      The history with eBay promotions is stuff up after stuff up after error. This is the most likely situation

    • When I contacted CS Chat, they fobbed me off with the typical

      No worried here, I will once share your details with the marketing promotions team and ask them to check your eligibility, if you are eligible you will sent an invitation in your email with the terms and conditions.

      Which usually means you will not hear from them again…

      • Yeh I asked them about the accept offer button and they basically said if it’s not there that means I’m not eligible. If I am eligible I should have received an invitation in email or inbox. Then proceeded to say I needed to be a “Top seller” to be eligible. I complained about seeing the promo in my homepage, but they said it’s only for “Eligible sellers”. Don’t show me the promo then!!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m wondering if the button is even showing for anyone?!

        • Nah, I don't think anyone's been able to accept it yet…

  • +4

    I call BS on eBay saying the promo is only for 'top rated sellers' - I have 4 eBay Plus accounts, all have top rated status, all have the banner on the home page, and none have the accept offer button once I click the home page link (but I do have the 0% fee Toy sale offer).
    Just another stuff up on eBay as usual.

  • +2

    Like many of you I saw the banner and clicked on 'Start Selling' however was charged the FVF (offer not showing on Seller Hub). After talking to agent they gave me a link which actually activated the offer which then showed up on Seller Hub. Luckily they refunded me the FVF but their promos after shambolic.

    • +3

      Brilliant! You just helped everyone out.
      Thanks!

    • Legend, looks like I’m eligible.

    • +1

      Give this guy a badge. This is the link you need, works on all 4 of my accounts and is now in my selling promotions tab.

    • +3

      Thanks. Kudo also to the eBay CS who gave you that answer. I contacted 3 different CS at different times, none gave me that answer, just fobbed me off saying they will forward my enquiry and someone will get back to me…

    • mvp right here

    • Awesome, thanks for posting!

    • +1

      As always the real bargain is in the comments.

  • +6

    also take screenshots of banner / terms page because they will ask you for it if you contact support.

  • +2

    @RogueWolf please update deal with this link
    https://www.rsvp.ebay.com.au/rsvp/signup/1017753/c9x3ma7aeBQ

  • If already have some item listed what is the easiest way to relist them and eligible for this offer?

  • +1

    it used to be, as long as you listed within the promotion period, you would still get the promotion discount even if you sold outside of the promotion window (as long as it was before auto-renewall), now it has to be listed AND sold within the promotion period
