Vinnies charity - all going to a good cause.
No harm in letting the community know it's not actually a bargain, just normal price.
Note for Mac users that this device will not allow two seperate extended displays, but will mirror one extended display to both outputs.
Does it support extended displays on a Windows PC?
Are you sure?
The pictures seem to indicate that it's a displaylink device.
Displaylink creates images over USB.It's okay -> don't run games.
But for static screens, web browsing, light youtube, etc they work fine for both Windows x64 and M1 Macbook airs. I have both SP7+ and M1 Macbook air and can drive 2 x 4k monitors @60hz.
The drivers are relatively stable (in built for Win11), download for M1 macbook.
Some of the cheaper devices are flaky (eg, wavlink devices). Even the D6000 docks that I have high failure rates (may not be displaylink chip problem). The USB network, etc works okay. But remember, they are all sharing the same bandwidth over the usb cable.
I'll say it again. Avoid DisplayLink™ docks like the freaking plague. They're far more trouble than they are worth.
What are the alternatives? Link please.
Also what if just for office works. Still no to display link?Anything not DisplayLink.
Basically if it doesn't have a DisplayLink logo on it, it's using USB-C "Alt mode".
Interesting - what's wrong with DisplayLink docks?
Yep. Because i used one since covid wfh and zero issues.
Also how do we know a dock is using dlink tech or not? Usually not listed on the specificationIt normally has the DisplayLink logo on it if they are using it. Kinda easy to spot.
@McMaferMur: This one does have that logo. The easiest image to spot it is actually the packaging box, look at the bottom right corner of the image below:

DisplayLink is a software video device. It uses your CPU to draw the video to a virtual video device, compress it and spit it out over USB data lines. It's terribad for anything but static images basically and not that great even for those.
It is a software based solution so when there is a new OS and the driver isn't available, you won't be able to use it until the driver is available. Other issues include lack of graphics acceleration, micro lag (if you move a window quickly, you generally can see a bit of lag), and lack of HDCP support so you might have issues watching Netflix.
Apple M1, M2 and M3 (base version) Macbook Air and Pro resurrected DisplayLink products (because people want 2 external displays on those). However, starting with M4, Apple has enabled two external displays (+ 1 internal display) so popularity of these devices is likely going to drop, hence you are seeing they are being discounted.
Not to mention these ones are fscking ancient. Evidenced by the DVI connector.
@Lt Lemming: Does look like old DisplayLink chipset (it is USB 3.0 based, rather than the newer USB 3.1 based DisplayLink chipset).
Took a punt, plus wavlink docks that I hope work on MacBook Air
completely different price point but i bought this to use with my mbp. after installing drivers, i can use 2 extra extended screens no problem. i don't game though
https://www.amazon.com.au/WAVLINK-Universal-Charging-3-1-10G…also the issue above re: dlink, this says it has an embedded gpu in the dock to avoid taxing your cpu
Hi Rep, it's the same price on your eBay store… $20.00 + $10 delivery.
Shouldn't it be cheaper for OzB members direct from your website seeing as you're not paying eBay fees?
