    Bro….

  • This is ~$850 with discounted gift cards.

    • How do we get those discounted gift cards?

      • Shopback has EB gift cards at 4% discount.

No issue using multiple cards, nor any issues using a gift card to buy another gift card such as playstation or steam.

Still worth buying considering other handhelds and upcoming new releases? Keen for opinion of people that have one or can compare.

On the fence too after waiting on all of the MSI Claw sales to touch the magic $500 mark. Larger screen and a sub 1000 price seems to be the positive, anything that does come out will certainly be better specs but will also be about 600-800 more expensive.

      • Hmm I’ve seen the old Claw dip down quite low but isn’t that the ‘worst’ performing handheld? I guess it comes down to personal use case, but why are you considering the Claw?

i just read an article this morning comparing the Lenovo with a Steam Deck. The Lenovo has good specs but the controller and UI are a deal breaker. Controller is kinda important for gaming. https://www.notebookcheck.net/I-swapped-my-Steam-Deck-for-a-…

I have a steam deck. I still play it occasionally. Recently been playing Zombieville USA 3D and Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel. I know the specs are pretty average but as a whole its so nice. I can't remember the last time I turned on my i7-13700K+RTX4800. But looking at my recent games, I don't tend to play games that need need it.

        • Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated. Amazing the old Steam Deck is still a fan favourite considering how dated it now is - like you said, all comes down to what you are playing.

If you always wait for what's 'upcoming', you'll never end up pulling the trigger — this is good for budgeting purposes, but you do end up missing out!

With Valve releasing a version of SteamOS that can be installed on other handhelds (I believe it's in public preview already), in addition to Lenovo releasing the Legion Go S (comes with SteamOS), you're all but guaranteed to get a damned good experience out of the box.

FWIW I'm very happy with my LCD Steam Deck, and feel no urge to upgrade to the OLED or any other handhelds at the moment.

  • Need this to go down to at least $799 HODL

unless you really really want windows I still think the 1tb oled steam deck on steam is a good value for 1049 delivered.

do these come with a dock ? or do you need to get one for it?

    • need to buy one separately

      • yeah battery life on these isn't great that seems to be the complaint AAA titles lasting 75 min vs steam deck 4 hours or more. obviously if you play less demanding games it will last longer but even that the steam deck still has the better battery life at 12 hours.

  • I think this would be better these handhelds though if they all had nvidia graphics..

  • Is there any difference in latency when streaming Steam games when comparing Steamdeck to its competitors? I definitely feel latency when I stream the games to my Android tablet.

But since optimum gives glowing praise about the low latency, I'm wondering if Steamdeck is using proprietary tech to optimise the stream.
