Would have been good if it was a 1 year pass

    • -8

And it would have been even better if it was a 25 year pass and it only cost $5… Silly comment.

      • +11

It’s a valid comment when compared to the below deal last year:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/826317

Though I think Dreamworld is rightfully starting to charge a bit more now, whilst still being cheaper than Movie World.

This offer is also possibly not restricted to locals.

      • +8

Except 25 years for $5 never happened. Silly comment.
$50 for less than 3 months is a bit disappointing after clicking the title assuming it is a year.
Be aware the whitewater will be closed for winter (i think opens on weekend only in april)

      • +1

It was $50 last time for 1 year. Silly comment

        • -1

That was a locals pass, this is available to everyone. Completely different.

  • +9

Random shopify hosted website, running on a domain registered 9 days ago. No indication of the website owner, either on the website or in the registration.

I can't say with certainty it's a scam, but it certainly smells like one…

    • +4

Found this banner on official website.
      https://www.dreamworld.com.au/love-gc-offers/

    • +6

Got an email from the official dreamworld email address. Definitely a weird way to do it, but seems legit

      • +2

Its a spend $50 to get $100 of credit promotion, the credit can be spent at multiple places. Over 150 companies taking part, so of course Village Roadshow parks will be in on it too, https://themeparks.com.au/lovegc

        • This is decent. Probably worth a separate post.

          $59 for 1 park, or $139 ($46 each) for 3 park, 5 day pass.

      • +2

Yup, agreed. With the extra info now available it does seem clear it's legit. Still poor form on their site though - hopefully when they actually launch it tomorrow it'll look a little more legit (eg, contact information).

  • -6

These negligent a***wipes should have been shut down after the river ride deaths

    • +4

Agree. Being a local and been going to Dreamworld since a kid, their maintenance of the rides and equipment was lacking. Much rather Village Roadshow parks, even though they have had breakdowns, their maintenance is more stringent. Was at Movie World last week and several rides were down due to scheduled maintenance, while annoying I’d still rather that then have every ride open and lacking the required maintenance. Once Dreamworld was a family run company, now a terrible shareholder company runs them. I know a lot of locals wouldn’t risk their lives at Dreamworld

      • +7

All of the theme parks are safer than ever since the incident, including Dreamworld. They have recently invested $50+ million into the park and three rides are currently closed for maintenance. Whilst they were negligent with that incident, it was 9 years ago and a lot has changed.

        • Yes, spending government Koala money on a roller coaster.

      • +2

Didn't Seaworld have a fatal helicopter crash a few years back?

        • +1

Pilot error is definitely another topic altogether though.

        • +1

The helicopter company was a separate entity to Village Roadshow and operated outside of the company

    • In case you missed out the ride has been shut down!

  • -5

Great if you have a death wish or want to tempt fate

    • +6

Yes best not to leave the house

      • -1

Best not to support a business that doesn't take preventive maintenance and the safety of it's paying visitors seriously.

  • Of course just as I paid $100 each for 4 people lmao

  • +2

Are you permitted to buy multiple in the same purchase?

    • +2

The offer FAQ says one voucher per mobile phone number.

  • +1

Is this QLD time tomorrow or Eastern Daylight given clocks don't change for another week?

    • It's not live now so likely AEST

  • Just $50

    Lol.

  • -1

We have annual passes and honestly it's pretty povo. Our 18 month old runs around white water a bit but beyond that there's no rides or anything that's much to write home about.

    • +3

Been to Rivertown yet? The Jungle Rush coaster and vintage cars are really well themed, and the animatronics in the restaurant are a bit different. Dreamworld and Movie World are pretty on par these days, though all Australian parks are povo by international standards. They are no Disneyland or Universal Studios.

  • +1

How many we can buy in single transaction?

    • Looks like it is only one, and it's tied to your mobile number, so not quite sure how I can buy 4 for our family with only 2 mobile numbers between us :/

      • Yeah this makes it a non starter for the Dreamworld pass in my eyes, either you end up getting an annual pass for the kids.. then you're out of sync if you decide to get ones for you.. or you get day passes..

        • I'm looking at buying 4x vouchers for my family (I'll enter a 'locals' address, which worked fine for Seaworld passes). I believe it is buy 3 get 1 free = $450 for 4 people?

  • Maybe five or six

  • LOVE GC Dreamworld Voucher?

    Not really a PASS?

  • It’s not a pass just $100 voucher a little confused ?

    • Love Dreamworld Pass vs LOVE GC Dreamworld Voucher

I don't know which is which so probably not the same

    • +1

They are doing a specific pass that costs $100 to use the entire value of the card, or you can use the card to purchase anything else at Dreamworld instead… or use it at numerous other places, the list of places that you can use the card at is: https://experiencegoldcoast.com/love-gc-deals/participating-…

      • Kinda high risk with the steps involved. Also only allowing me to purchase a single one, so may not be able to get 4 for the family.

        • Would also love a way to get 4, but with only 2 mobile # between us, not sure how.

          • @Genga: Quickly pick up $2 sims at Coles-worth

            • @xsacha: Do you know whether the DW passes eventually get delivered via email? I could used the grandparents mobiles, but not if it means having the mobiles with us at the time of entry…

        • +2

Yeah for Dreamworld not easy to get 4 passes sorted. We used previous deals like this for eating out a the surf clubs rather than at the theme parks.

  • Can you use it to buy a pass?

  • +2

Really confusing as "Get ready for an unforgettable adventure! When you spend $50, you'll receive a $100 prepaid voucher to use at Dreamworld and SkyPoint—whether it’s thrilling rides, wildlife encounters, delicious dining, or breathtaking views from the top of the Gold Coast."

  • Got it. Awaiting email

  • +1

Seems like whoever set up the offers has messed up the setup.

They've blended the voucher/pass offers with overlapping T&Cs. Really confusing.

  • Don't get it. Where do you use the $100 voucher and for what?

    • Anything you want at these places:

      https://experiencegoldcoast.com/love-gc-deals/participating-…

However some places have special promos just for this deal, like the $100 pass Dreamworld are offering.

      • Im going to chance my luck paying for https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/897168 with a green card

        • Wouldn't you end up paying $50 still, which is the same as a non-renewal?
Or can you use the remaining $31 for something else?

          • +1

@xsacha: if it works as I hope, it will only use the balance of the $100 on the card necessary ($69) so leaves another $31 to spend e.g. on food etc

          • @xsacha: It worked

      • -1

This doesn't seem to be correct information. Terms explicitly say $100 gift card can only be used at Dreamworld or Skypoint.

Edit: NM, Then I read more terms, and you're right, now I see the link.

  • +1

Only valid to 18+ YO. 1 voucher pass per mobile number.

Bit shitty you can't buy your kids tickets as an adult.

    • +1

Yeh was hoping to buy for partner/kids but can only buy 1 per mobile number.

  • So the limit is one $50 GC? or you have to make multiple purchases?

  • +1

Has anyone tried to buy 2 under 1 phone number? Not for the theme pass, just for the LOVE GC Card (green card)

    • they arent being sent out for a few hours so even if it "works" at purchase time, who's to know what will happen when they issue them

      • Bloody confusing.

    • +2

It says 'Strictly 1 gift card per customer' at phone number selection and at check out. Payment doesn't go through.

      • +1

I hadn't tried, so thank you. Just bought one. Really needed two though, for holiday in October

        • Use someone else's phone number or buy a new $2 sim at your local grocery store for the purpose.

          • +1

@xsacha: Too much trouble going to buy a sim and charging. I'll stick with the 1. I'm lazy

          • @xsacha: Could possibly do this (eg use parents mobiles) as long as you don't need the mobile to use the voucher etc?

  • +1

Is it better to buy the money voucher then use it to buy a full year pass? Can you do that?

  • I was able to buy two GCs with the same email and mobile number.

    • How does it get delivered - via email?

  • +1

Looks like it might be sold out already? I’m not getting a buy option for the generic green card

  • Waste of bloody time that was

  • Just purchased a couple - as geekau mentioned above the ability to purchase had appeared after I'd returned to the tab about 10 minutes after initially giving up. Now it looks like there's some queueing system implemented.

  • Go incognito mode to rejoin the queue for more purchases

    • I have 4 queues on the go. There is 600 in each queue, wow.

Edit: Although, I would expect that a lot will be bailing out. When it forwards to buy the cards, the Buy options only come up after quite some time (it at all).

  • +3

Is the Love GC card able to be used at the participating merchants for any purchase (like food at Movie World), or only for the annual passes? I don't find the terms and conditions to be incredibly clear regarding that.

    • FAQ says you can use it for anything at those places.

      • +2

I just called up, and unfortunately not. At least at Village Roadshow, it can only be redeemed for tickets (which they told me on the phone). When I called up The Star GC, they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.

Which I guess is what "The pre-paid digital LOVE GC Card may only be used in relation to certain products and services offered by a selected Gold Coast merchant." means in the terms and conditions

        • +1

Possible, not clear… for Top Golf is does say "REDEEM IN VENUE Available for game play, food, beverage, and more!" on their own website, but not mentioned on others.

          https://themeparks.com.au/lovegc

Edit: Yeah ok the Village Roadshow FAQ does say you can't use them in park… which mildly contradicts the main FAQ for the cards themselves.
So you can use it for anything at the listed businesses, except for where you can't :)

  • +1

I received my redemption code for the Dreamworld one but it only mentions redemption for the pass, it doesn't include mention of being able to redeem it for food in park as per the website. It's all been implemented very poorly.

    • Depends if you bought the pass or the green card

      • +1

The Love GC Dreamworld Vouchers says "Get ready for an unforgettable adventure! When you spend $50, you'll receive a $100 prepaid voucher to use at Dreamworld and SkyPoint—whether it’s thrilling rides, wildlife encounters, delicious dining, or breathtaking views from the top of the Gold Coast." This is the one I purchased.

        • +1

In addition, the Dreamworld site previously said you could use the GC vouchers for food and they have now removed that, so now I'm not even sure if the green cards can be used in park…

          • +1

@Pip Squeak: I don't think so, under the green cards merchants there is only Skypoint, not dreamworld and ww world.

            • @truetypezk: This morning their website said "Have a $100 Love GC Card? You can use it to buy your pass online or at the front gate. You can also spend it on food, drinks, and retail in-park — including the LEGO® Certified Store."

            • @truetypezk: Anyway I've grabbed a few of each, I am sure we can find a place to spend the green cards at 50% off.
