I reckon we'll see stock issues and orders cancelled… But i've grabbed some anyway.

  • Thanks OP grabbed the ring cam pack for indoors.

  • Insane price for the doorbell, thanks OP.

  • +1

Would be great if any of these really worked without some stupid subscription service!

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed a Nest Mini. I'm pretty happy with my EUFY system although looks like some good prices on the other gear.

    • Curious if you have a Eufy doorbell cam and if so, if you've found a way to get the video to display on any other device besides a phone? Thanks!

      • I have one of the S330 Door Locks with the camera and some EufyCams. From memory maybe it's only the EufyCams that I can view from a browser and even to do that is a bit of a pain you have to approve it from the phone each time. They really seem to push mobile.

I’ve binned numerous nest minis over the years from scoring them for free from various places.

  • Thanks OP

  • all rooms in my home has nest mini, wait the shower power point is emply 😝

    • I love the surround-sound feeling of the music playing from all over the house. Adding 4x more minis with this sale!

    Nest Mini OoS SoB

    Nest Mini now OOS

  • +1

Google nest mini is now sold out!

  • +1

No future updates why are being buying these

  • +4

    Needed Nest Mini…but OOS

  • Awesome! $14 delivered for a Nest Mini!

Finance was asking for a HomePod mini last night, but the Nest might have to do!

    • Depends on what your fiance wants to use it for - I have both and found that they seem to serve pretty different purposes; but the Nest Mini is a better 'smart speaker' than the Homepod mini.

      • Really just that. Something that’s a bit more reliable than Siri and plays Spotify off voice commands without fuss.

  • Price match at officeworks for an extra 5% off

    • Or bunnings at 10% (eg the Ring Camera)

      • They declined as the description doesn’t match.

  • +2

The battery doorbell is pretty lame for the brand it carries. Laggy, battery won't last long, sub needed if you need to keep the recording etc.

    • I have one and I regret buying it. :(

    • Seems pretty cool to me, granted my biggest concern is the battery life because I live on a busy street.
I get notifications in about 5 seconds so pretty quick considering people keep saying it's 15 seconds+.

  • Anyone have thoughts on whether the Arlo camera is good for indoor use mainly to watch pets at home?

  • +1

Is Google Cam Floodlight good? Seems to be the least discounted among.

    • +1

love mine. Great option if you have a outdoor light already and at a "reasonable" position or height. However if you manually turn it on, just remember to manually turn it off lol. Same goes for accidental power on with your voice or power outages.

  • +1

    mini oos

  • +1

How was Arlo cams? Anyone own it or have experience with it can kindly comments? Thank you in advance

  • +1

JB HiFi price matched the 2 pack, and doorbell for me

    • +1

They wouldn't do it for me :/

      • Which item are you after?

        • +1

The doorbell, got it from optus instead, guess I'll take the free shipping.

    • Is it via online or in-store? I just got refused due to optus membership requirement, but I said it should be just a free sign-up account. No luck still.

      No stress and bought.

      • +1

Nope, no membership requirement. I did not even sign into Optus, placed order as "new to Optus".

        • I see I thought "new to Optus" means to create a new account as normal practice by many companies. 10% down the drainage.

      • +1

        Did it online

    • Tried 8 different JB hifi CS rep online; none of them agreed to price match, despite explaining to them that an active membership is not required.

      • Yup, tried again this morning, no luck. Guy said that it shouldn't have been honoured yesterday lol. Managed to grab a doorbell for $62 with $10 off perks code :)

  • Cheers OP grabbed the secuirty camera with spotlight!

  • Anyone getting error with mobile number should be number while checking out

    • +1

Yeah, if you begin check out, then add more to the cart you get that error. Just use another browser.

      • Thx, worked as suggested

  • +1

Was about to buy the Arlo and then realised it too needs some dumbarse subscription to work properly.

I just want one simple, basic camera to monitor outside my home and finding it hard to discover one that isnt subscription based, sigh..

    • +3

      Eufy my friend

      • +1

That’s the way to go. Let’s hope they don’t start a subscription for it

    • or Reolink perhaps

    • Or buy a hub for 87$ at Bunnings/amazon and u can store on that

    • +1

Most cameras should allow to monitor and remote monitor? A subscription should be for cloud recording and extra features. I could be wrong.

The Arlo Go seems to be a good back up option as it can switch to LTE. Anyone experienced with Arlo Go and is it required a subscription for remote viewing?

And how is return policy buying from optus? Tempting to buy a few to test.

    • +1

      +1 for Reolink
also able to purchase with Solar panel and resolving issues of battery running out

    • Got AOSU Security Camera Outdoor for less than $30 each. They are OOS ATM but there are other similar ones around.
They are basic but great bang for buck.

    • +1

Reolink, ai model, with microSD card.

Basic 5mp rlc-520a is cheap and prices go up from there.

      • Thank you. Yes i have been looking at Reolink's website. I'll need a poe switch as my router doesnt support it i dont think but that's okay. Anyway thanks for suggestion.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed a mini to replace the one playing up at home and also a doorbell.

I was going to get a floodlight as well but wasn’t sure if it was a DIY install or needs an electrician.

    • They arrived in less than 24 hours. Already setup.

  • +1

Thanks, got a doorbell and the 2xcameras

  • JB not price matching due to membership price. I'm about to use my GC :(

    • +1

Stupid excuse … no membership necessary (you don't need to be a Optus customer).

  • 2 pack nest cam OOS

  • +5

This happens at least once a week. Google Mini is starting to get dementia

Hey Google "Whats the time" - According to Wikipedia, Time is the continuous progression of existence…. - STOP.

HEY GOOGLE "WHATS THE TIME". - The time is 4.50pm

    • +1

Yea sadly the actual functions of the devices have gone downhill. But I do really like the whole-house (or section-isolated) music.

    • +2

So it isnt just me? This is exactly my experience too.

  • 2-pack OOS

  • Nice

  • -4

Good deal for VIC residents considering the current crime rate in the state lol

  • Awesome deal. Thanks OP

  • +3

I got 3x Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pros. Bargain price at $99 each. They are usually at least $299. Time to call my electrician.
    https://www.optus.com.au/accessories/smart-home/ring/ring-fl…

    • +1

Tempted but dues anyone if you can record without subscription ?

  • Hrm, dropped my doorbell a while back and scratched the lens… for $72 might be worth replacing it…

  • +1
    • Got one but think this can go on sale and be cheaper with upsized cashback on Amazon.

  • Already shipped and coming tomorrow.

  • Has anyone found cheaper Nest subs by using a VPN or is that not an option?

    • Check Turkey last time and no service over there or no diff sort of.

    • Last time I checked there wasn't any cheaper option, even from other countries. The only option was to go with the local Aussie subscription which was expensive so ended up getting rid of the cameras and getting a Reolink system.

  • Both listed out of stock products are back in stock.

    • Nest Mini out of stock again

  • So I ordered 4x Home Minis yesterday in the late afternoon - sounds like I was one of the last to get stock.

The units arrived at my home in Sydney this morning, from their Melbourne warehouse. And the shipping was free.

Optus must REALLY want to get rid of this stock!

    • Shipping is normally extremely fast with Optus

      • +3

Literally the only fast service they offer, then!

      • +1

The use startrack so yeah, DHL also very fast.

    • +1

I am getting so much PITA trying to set these up

had to reinstall a old version of HOme app via apk mirror site inorder to activiate the mini and still not yet fully up and running it's getting stuck connecting to wifi…see my comment above

  • Wish they sold the indoor version for a discount. Although the battery one is pretty cheap to use indoor but obviously need the stand and it being bigger.

  • Which doorbell is good?
    1. Ring Video Doorbell 4
    2. Google Nest Doorbell Battery
    3. Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2 Wired

  • Has anyone read the product description for "Ring Stick Up Cam Battery 2 Pack"?
    https://www.optus.com.au/accessories/smart-home/ring/ring-st…

Looks like, it's for a door lock rather then a camera.
    "
Recognises your fingerprint in 0.3 seconds & unlocks your door in 1 - faster than keys.
Control your Smart Lock & open the door from almost anywhere using the app.
You can open with your fingerprint, your phone via the app, the keypad or the key.
If you forget to lock your door when you leave, built-in Smart Lock sensor locks it for you.
    "

    • seems typo in the product description

  • +2

Alert!! I couldn't activate my Nest Mini with my current Google Home app, it directed me to install a Google Device Utility app which play store didn't allow me to install, saying I had a older android…FFS!!!

What finally worked was I had to uninstall my current Home app and download and install a version from 2022 from apkmirror site and side load it or install using the apk mirror installer app(that you download via playstore)

After doing this, I could get my Nest Home mini activated but it's taking a few mins now to connect to my wifi while I am setting it up, still not yet connected.

    • +1

Order 2x Nest Mini's yesterday, received 2x this morning, set up 2x just now (iOS)… Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

No such efforts of what you had to go through.

Edit: It did need 3-4 minutes on each to install the updates though, although this was all visibly shown in the set up on the Google Home app.

  • Anyone get Bunnings online to price beat - still waiting on a response after sending them an email yesterday afternoon

  • Just received mine, quick delivery, for some reason, it's required ID check and I thought I ordered alcohol lol

  • Received Google nest doorbell today but still waiting for shipping confirmation on Google 2 pack cam battery! anyone else in same boat?

    • Recieved the rest of mine this morning. Don't know why they check ID for a security cam purchase. Is it same for you?

  • I ordered the doorbell & cam 2 pack yesterday and both got delivered today

  • Ordered 2 google nest mini and a battery camera yesterday and both got delivered today
