  • How is this a mini TV if it doesnt come with a tv tuner (not to mention screen). Similar to an apple TV thats not really a TV.

And how is a blackboard green and not black?

  • does this need to be connected to power to work? whats the harddrive/use connector type?

  • Just think of it as a Tablet….. without the screen or the battery, needs to be plugged into AC power to work and plugs into your TVs HDMI port for sound and vision.

I have one and it great for the tv and I used it to watch Dexter .mkv files, it didnt even get hot/warm even.

Has 2 USB ports and the micro SDcard slot.

  • Application maybe for a TV which cannot read USBs directly. Still have my Logitech Revue/Google STB, however, and useful for occasional surfing via trackpad keyboard. Many LEDs have file reader.

Bought the black one from these guys a few weeks ago as an Xmas present, it either freezes, crashes or becomes unusably slow even at the sight of having to use some processing power.. It's ok to have 1 possibly 2 apps running in the background but any more than that and it becomes unusable.
In saying that I like it for the most part, but the issues noted above are a deal breaker and I will not be buying one of these for myself until the 'mk812' or something like that comes out

These things need at least a 2 amp power supply to run smoothly. I had exactly the same problems with mine until I upgraded the power supply.

I bought a 2A charger off ebay for this. People had the same problem with Raspberry Pi.
Also watch out for poor quality USB cables. They can cause similar problems.

        • can someone post links for the charger on ebay. thanks.

      • What do you use it for? Can it play 1080p videos?

        • Depends what you use to playback videos. If you're thinking of running XBMC on it, then it won't handle 720p+ smoothly as no hardware decode support yet. The only player that seems to have reliable HW decoding for this chipset is MoboPlayer (not Mobo Video Player btw) though I think 720 is the highest I have tried

(Should note I can't vouch for this device exactly, but my tablet has the same chipset and os version. It doesn't state in their specs, but I'm assuming it also has same GPU as mine, Mali 400 Quad)

If you just want an HD XBMC though, a RasPi might be a better solution.

      • USB cable could also be a problem, when testing various cables of different lengths and "brands" for use with a RasPi, voltage drop varied almost up to 1v.

    • Same issue here. After a while I could not turn it on at all no matter I tried to do. I swapped out the USB cable/power to 2A to no avail. Just a black screen with no signal. It did work for one whole day though :)
