Yard Force Lawn Mower 48V (2x 24V) 4.0Ah Brushless Kit 380mm $269 + Local Delivery (or $0 Pick up) @ Mitre 10

121

While checking out the Ozito PXC 36V (2 x 18V) 335mm Lawn Mower deal, I did a bit of browsing and noticed that Mitre 10 is offering a matching deal with this kit.

On paper, this mower appears to be a much better option overall, though I haven’t used it myself. If anyone has experience with it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Most Brisbane metro stores don’t have it in stock, but it’s available for order.

Used the wired version of this brand and its an absolute crap. Broke down after probably 10th or 12th use. Just one yr of warranty. Better to buy the ozito from Bunnings which has 3yrs of warranty.

  • I bought an electric mower once. never again.

Go ego mowers. I’ll be hard pressed to go back to petrol, and I’m fairly against electric garden equipment. Ego stuff screams and craps all over most petrol gear- all but the highest end.

    • Ye, a decent four stroke mower, starts at the pull of a string.

      • All 4-strokes should start easily. Not like your grandfather's 2-stroke.

Never? How old are you? It is only a matter of time before petrol mowers go the way of the horse & cart.

Once any sort of emissions regulation is applied they will be effectively banned. Mower engines haven't had 30 years of iterative improvements like car engines have, they actually have much higher impact than a 4cyl car since they emit far more methane.

I honestly can't fault the Makita 36V steel deck mower my parents bought. Outside of price, I can't fault the thing. It's got as much grunt as any petrol mower I've used in the past, and it's effortless to get started, which I can't say of the petrol machines.

      • Agree, I have one of these too, and would never go back to a petrol mower

I bought a petrol mower once. it was $150 from aldi, and it fell apart after 6 months.
      never again

      • Well, you bought a petrol mower from Aldi lol

        • Pre-cisely

People cheap out with electric gear, then call it a POS and say silly things like 'never again'.

Mowers need a lot of power. I think a standard petrol one runs at the equivalent of 5kw. So that means a sizable electric motor, and a lot of batteries. That's going to either cost a lot, or have limitations.

    • Yeah, get yourself a Honda lawnmower, can't beat any electric out there with that lol
Thanks to the battery-loving bunch, they are in the marketplace for good bargains!

Sadly, my Honda no longer gets used much, if at all because the e-go is better, faster and less finicky (granted that’s a rare occasion, but when Mr Honda gets shitty, it’s a real pain in the bum! Whereas the electric is yet to give any dramas, including the self propelled section.

The 12 month warranty kills it.
Yardforce make pretty good gear but if they want more AU customers they're going to have to back their mowers with at least 3 years.
1 year just screams we have no faith in the product past the 12 month mark.

  • I've had the 40V version for a few years now and it works relatively well. Good if you stay on top of your grass but once it's overgrown it can struggle.

Pretty soon you should be able to buy a Tesla for a similar price. Then just buy a lawn blade attachment for it at Bunnings and away you go. After all, Tesla is only a glorified mower with a large iPad screen.
