I thought the soft serve one was the same thing just with soft serve attachment? Didn't think it actually worked any differently

      • It does appear to be the same basic machine with a few more modes. But the soft serve or "swirl" section is integrated rather than being a separate attachable part, so if you want soft serve, you have to buy the new model. The "swirl" process actually requires you to move and re-attach the tub.
I would say that is a financial (money making) decision, rather than an engineering decision to integrate it rather than allow you to purchase it separately.

They have a newer version that will be available soon so it seems Ninja is trying to offload this product as everyone has caught on how bad it is, for example:

    • the blade cuts the plastic and so you basically get plastic hundreds and thousands in your ice cream
    • you have to pre-freeze your ingredients in the tub at least the night before that you suddenly get an urge for icecream the following day
    • you have to pre-freeze your ingredients in the tub at least the night before that you suddenly get an urge for icecream the following day

The newer versions still require you to pre-freeze.

      • That's a hard pass from me.

    • Does the newer version not have the plastic cutting issue?

  • mother's day present sorted

so you getting her the one with the plastic bits?

why are you so pressed that this device exists?

        • -3

why are you so pressed that this device exists?

why are you trying to suppress any info about this device's faulty flaws?

BTW it was someone else that mentioned this issue..

Also @zuuutoootuuu mention another danger of this device down below..

Are you gonna try to suppress his comment too?

As someone else mentioned, there is a new model out..
so Ninja is offloading these devices… probably due to these flaws/faults

  • I had a blade come off mine! Incredibly dangerous.

The drive lost hold of the blade, the blade cracked the cup when it uncoupled, the drive was still spinning and started sparking/spraying metal shards when the drive was drilling into the blade.

    • Out of curiosity what'd your spindle look like? Every time I've seen pics of this sort of issue the spindle grooves were caked with old crusted icecream. I'm guessing the build up stops the blade from properly connecting to the spindle so it falls off during operation

  • Thanks, OP. I now have a light chuckle to myself every time I see a Ninja deal.

  • works well but the noise of this thing is next level insane…..so loud it ridiculous

Once you use an ice cream maker with a compressor you aren't going back.

chill y’all, have some ice cream

If you put the time in, you can make incredible ice cream with this device. I know someone who has one and it’s his new hobby. The ice cream he’s made is as good as most ice cream/gelato shops in Melbourne (not Beku though, for those that know it). He apparently has used egg yolks to make really rich and tasty ice cream.
