Missed this one from the catalogue onslaught before lol.

Cheapest the iPhone 16 has been outright to date.

Now similarly to the iPad deal, assuming Officeworks does not drop their price to match BIG W, you can price beat this BIG W offer at OW and then pay with discounted gift cards to get even more savings, of which there are 2 offers on Ultimate Gift Cards, both at BIG W and Coles. Officeworks price: $1177.

Assuming that all works, you could get this iPhone for as low as $1025.15. Nearly $400 off.

Doesn't look like there are many other good offers in the Catalogue.

Enjoy!

this makes 16e less attractive, except for battery life

    • +1

does 16e have better battery life?

      • +1

        About the same.

        • few extra hour of video playback. Would get this one for the extra camera and the Dymanic island

    • -5

the 16e 256 gigs costs about the same price as this and as you know iOS 19 coming out and will use a chunk of your 128 gigs and with your apps and photos you may end up with 25 gigs only you best go for 256 gigs

      • +4

        ios19 isn't going to take up 103GB

      • WOW didn't know iOS 19 will take out 100GB, so literally those 64GB iphones there's no iOS 19 update… LOL

  • Ultramarine $1199

      Insightful. Thanks.

Yeah this completely changed my opinion on the Phone 16 and 16E. Very deep insight on the topic.

JV , "YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN".

Or do the JB workaround trick ;)

    • +1

      has been outright to date.

      Come on……

    • What’s the jb workaround trick?

        • Is that to say you get the handset for only $899?

          • @bambadee: Yes, although the true cost depends on how much you value your time. There’s a bit of messing around to get that price.

            • @axyh: Is it just following the standard process as laid out in the above link? Buy starter sim from Aldi, port over, buy phone, cancel plan, pay early termination fee? Seems pretty straightforward, but I might be missing something!

And are you able to do this if you already have a phone on a JB HI FI mobile plan?

              • @bambadee: That sounds about right. You just have to port in to JB with a new number and buy the phone using the promo as if you were intending to be a new customer, then cancel and pay the fee.

New SIM -> activate -> sign up, port in, get voucher and buy phone-> cancel service -> pay fee.

I haven’t done it, because I don’t feel like jumping through those hoops (and feeling like I’m doing something shady) just for a few hundred dollars. But it’s worked for plenty of others.

    • Is there any benefit in showing the Big W price to JB Hi-Fi for a price match in 2 days if the deal is still running? Do you get something extra back?

      • +3

The JB deal has an expiry of 30 April, but the expiry has been extended 2 times since and not sure if it’ll continue to extend

There’s no point in showing the Big W price to JB as your outright price is already $0, and it is not like the Samsung S25 pre-order deal where you get $200 off coupon, which for some people and myself have received a $200 JB gift card back

    • Can the JB workaround works for ATO and TRS?

      • Yes. JB hifi receipt shows the full amount.

    • Is that working for any phone? I missed the google pixel. Wondering if I can still get it

    • Can you do this if you already have a JB HI FI/Telstra Mobile Plan with another handset?

      • Check your plan and see if early termination worth it, otherwise just start with a new sim.

      The colour…

good deal, but at this point i would just wait for the 17 to come out.

the 16 will become a lot cheaper, or you can just get the 17.

    • Maybe not. The 15 is currently $1249 rrp.
And Apple might raise iPhone prices this year with the 17 series.

      • +1

I am waiting because why not? Might cost more but they could double the base gb hence a higher price has a reason.

    • Could be. 17 series might be decently priced if Apple can just charge a lot more for the Air and Pro instead. I bet they could all have a lot more RAM if Apple is still planning on always-on AI being a thing.

      Cough Lion El'Jonson cough

      • Well … One of the lost primarch's name is Malibron. Knowing games workshop, the other is probably going to be something like jabroni.

Expect Officeworks gonna mark it as OOS to dodge price beat 3 days later.

  • How did you find the Bigw catalogue? The website doesn't show the traditional flick through version of the catalogue.

  • +1

I don't see any future catalogue on their website.
Does it include 256 GB model?

  • +1

Question. Does the "10% every month off" perk work on this?

    • No, there's an error saying it exceeds the max cart value of $500.

  • +1

    any deals for 256 gb?

  • +1

so last year Telstra had it for $300 off was that right?

    • I think Telstra offered that deal last May

  • Should be across the range , fingers crossed 🤞

    • Seems like they only have the white 256gb pro max listed :/

    • Is this a statement as it 'it will be across the whole range' or just a hope?

  • -2

    16e is cheaper though

  • +1

256gb at this price would be great! 128gb is crazy :(

    • -1

you can also get a 16e for cheaper.

  • How do i get discounted gift cards?

I’m actually new to this community, hence the basic question

    • +11

      Welcome to OzBargain!

For which retailer are you wanting discounted gift cards?

      • If you are talking about BIG W, the easiest way to obtain discounted BIG W gift cards or Everyday WISH gift cards is from a Woolworths Group gift card portal accessible through a partner (e.g. automotive clubs, Student Edge, etc). Alternatively, some discounted gift card portals sell BIG W gift cards or Everyday WISH gift cards sell them at a discount everyday. Information on either of these can be found on OzBargain’s dedicated Discounted eGift Card wiki page. Discounts for BIG W gift cards through these portals tend to be around 5%.

      • If you are talking about Officeworks, you can purchase Officeworks gift cards or Ultimate gift cards (featuring Officeworks) at a discount or with cashback everyday, but the discount/cashback tends to be rather small (e.g. 2%). The aforementioned Discounted eGift Card wiki page will highlight these options. However, if you want a more substantial discount, you will need to purchase Ultimate gift cards (featuring Officeworks) at a discount through limited-time deals at retailers. The deal description mentions two upcoming 10% off gift card deals at BIG W and Coles that would be relevant in this case.

      • I think Big W is giving 5x point for each dollar for rewards card maybe that finished strategically as this appears

  • Hopefully the 16 plus can be $200 off too

  • Does Big W only have store stock or do they have warehouse stock too?

  • 128 gigs and everyone got so excited you'd run out of space faster than you can say ultra is a marine

    • If its your only device or take heaps of videos I would agree.

  • All retailers will have this price.

    • Know if they will have deals on the max too?

      • yupp

    • Curious how you know? I assume that'll mean no OW price beat?

      • no OW pb :(

      • Let's hope Costco gets it too and betters it by their usual $50 then

    • Does that mean buying from OW with onepass(x5 reward points) is a better deal than BigW everyday extra(x2 reward points)?

  • +1

Been using this phone for a few months now, albeit in black. Unsurprisingly, a huge upgrade from the 11 that I’ve had for a few years. Recommended.

    • Does not look like much changes from iPhone 13

  • Missed those days when iPhones where only $999 maximum price

  • -3

In what reality would anyone pay that amount of money for a phone when you could get a phone that can do everything and more, for almost at least a third of the price. People have more money than sense!!

    • +1

People value the security of iOS, build quality of Apple, the intergration in the Apple ecosystem and the easy after sale customer service of Apple Stores.

Phones are the central component of a modern life. People are happy to pay a premium for that devices.

    • -1

Portion of it could be tax deductible, some OZBers have their own companies so they can buy them as work phones for employees (and can pretty much eventually expense the entire phone cost).

Most, if not all doctors have IT / Tech allowances every year in the thousands. To them, why get an cheap phone? Most OZBers are richer than you and me and REALLY rich people don't have time to waste on OZB (they are too busy making more money or counting money).

  • -2

Totally agree regarding value proposition of I phone.

    • iPhone*

  • Any idea what time tomorrow this starts? Is it a midnight deal or 9am thing?

  • $1177 at JB
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/collections/mobile-phones/iphone-1…

Officeworks are still selling it at $1187, so better quickly price beat it first thing in the morning

  • $1187 at OW, onepass 5x rewards point = $29.6 if my calculation is correct.

    • it's now 1177 at officeworks

    • +1

      it's now $1149

      • damn…. would they refund the difference?

  • On the phone Apple said they would price match BigW but only on the normal price not the discounted price - which is no price match at all. I was not at all pleased so asked for a supervisor who said much the same until our discussion reached the Officeworks price at which point they caved and gave me their 10% off. So if you want Apple to price match prepare for a battle and don’t accept bs.
