These are cheap and nasty. If you have good quality knives then this knife sharpener is not recommended as it will destroy your blade (It's a brute force method that dramatically decreases the lifespan of the knife.). Get a whetstone instead.

My bro not everyone has the time or deftness to work with a whetstone. I personally use a diamond stone which can sharpen in maybe two minutes, and a leather strop after. But I have an old Joseph Joseph knife I maintain using a pull-through knife sharpener and a honing rod. The latter is way faster and friendlier.

      • Get something like this if you want something quick. Much better than the ops one, doesn't chew up your blade.

        • Lol that's exactly what I use. The Minosharp lmfao

I got one of them once. What a complete piece of rubbish. Much better to use a whetstone.

        • Looks good, do they go lower than $68?

        • Can this be used on non Global knives as the blade angle is different on Japanese knives compared to German for example.

      • Agreed. I have the pull through type and it works a treat. My knives aren't some fancy brand that cost mega dollars so this sharpener works just fine.

    • Oh no! Better not use a $6 sharpener on my $500 Miyabi knife then :)

A similar one was posted a couple of years ago & wasn't well received by the community.

Also if I was going to buy one I'd just go to Kmart… $8.50.

The Kmart one is awesome for sharpening scissors. Made cutting wrapping paper so much more satisfying - shhhhhhhhhhhhht

        • +2

Great, now I feel like a chihuahua but it's too late for a snack.

  • I use the lkea version SKÄRANDE Knife sharpener with the honing disks
    Normal price $15
Found it to be very good

  • Does any have a HORL sharpener and swear by them to justify the money?
