In another W for Australian artists and vinyl lovers, Spacey Jane are releasing their new album next Friday (9th of May) and have a white label pressing of their upcoming album (No vinyl jacket, just a paper sleeve). Seems to be an accidental mixup at the pressing plant.

$12 for a vinyl that is a coloured pressing + $9.95 Shipping is a pretty excellent deal. The order also comes with a download, and recommend downloading the music ASAP so that Spacey Jane can chart on the Album ARIA charts.

    I understand that not all vinyl is made equal. Is there some sort of assurance that this vinyl and pressing is of good quality?

      It’s always a coin flip taking into account shipping damage, warp, or just poor mastering, but in my experience, I’ve found the less “mass produced” a record is, the better it sounds. There was some bloke who works at a pressing plant who did a reddit AMA recently who explained like this; you’ve got your “template” stamp as a reference point. It presses a bit worse the more it’s used.

      If you pick up a record with a run of only 50, 100, 500, 1000, you tend to get pretty good quality presses. Not enough pressed to degrade the template stamp. My worst presses are from artists like Billie Eilish & Charli. GOT OST too. My Kendrick records are mastered fantastically but pop constantly. Bad presses. Super mass produced. Poor QA. If you get a copy that’s right at the end of the template stamp’s life, your pressing will likely suck. If you’re first, it probably sounds awesome. My best presses are from small artists; Motion City Soundtrack (pressing of 500 usually), Jim E. Brown (Presses 100), Hudson Mohawke, Kisschasy.

      Some plants might just suck more than others too. Can’t speak to what plant is handling this record. Also can’t estimate how many will be produced. Also can’t guarantee it’s mastered well.

      TL;DR you’ll find out when you test it

    Great deal but no cover to look at and read is a bummer. I guess that could be fixed though by downloading the images, print and glue 🤣

    "Indie/Alternative" music is and has been stale and uninspired for decades. I'd say the mid 2000s was the last era I enjoyed new music in a general sense.

    Don't get me wrong, there has been worthwhile music to listen to since then but its very sporadic.

    Had a quick listen and these guys seem on the right track. Looking forward to some new Kevin Parker music. Fremantle seems to have a decent music scene going on.
