  • +1

Glad I got one. Mother's day done.

    • would need to get other things with this machine for mum?

      • yes, the actual supplies

        vinyl rolls etc

  • -1

    (historic ATL is $128)

I don't think you can call it historic. Historical is the word you are looking for.

    • actually it's historical

  • Amazon sold out.

Grabbed one from Harvey Norman instead.

    Thanks.

  • +1

FYI the joy takes 5" wide rolls, where as most blade machines are 12".
Also unsure if they have to be Cricut's own brand of "Smart Vinyl", or if other brand materials also work.

    • +2

Can be any brand of vinyl and other non-Cricut branded material. (Source: own one)

      • +1

can you share where you buy some from?

        • +1

any vinyl works, you just have to trim it to fit on the 5" mat.

          htvfront on amazon is fine

        • kmart

        • +1

As others have said, any vinyl cut down will work. I purchase from Spotlight (when on sale there are a few brands stocked) and Amazon (HTVRONT well liked in the Cricut community).

        • +1

Amazon has htvront and YRYM on sale often.

    • If you don't feel like cutting or using a board temu/ali has pre cut smart vinyl ready to go, although not as cost effective still cheap.

  • +4

What is the purpose of this?

  • +2

Got one thanks. What other things I do I need to buy? The starter packs?

  • Amazon is sold out.

    • +1

      Available again, but on backorder.

Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months

      • Yep just saw it .. getting it for the kids to gift to mum, unfortunately means i had to get it from hardly normal. Thanks for the heads up though.

  • +2

Ain’t this one too small to do anything with and it’s not that great of a deal what’s it normally cost was the last price this was not $128.
Someone said the bigger machine is better

    • +1

      which bigger machine?

  • Don’t need it BUT if HN/Amazon still has stock tomorrow, I might be FOMO’d and try OW price beat. 😆

    • OW don't stock it, just checked. Only the joy kit version on the website, not standalone machine. First thing I checked.
Happy to be corrected if someone can find it on the site.

    • Don't do it. You must resist

      • +1

        Resist, I must.

        • I believe in you

      • +1

I did resist - Mum does crafting - and this would be great - but it would just be another gadget.

Looks like from a review there is more costs with the app.

Be cautious about hidden costs with this app. While it may boast great features, my experience led me to return it. The catch? Essential graphics and fonts demand a separate monthly subscription, and once you're in, additional features come at an extra cost – approximately $8 per font. Unfortunately, this vital information isn't disclosed before purchase. For me, it's a pass.

    • +4

Those fonts and graphics definitely aren't essential. You can use any font installed on your computer and download plenty of others for free off the web. You can also upload your own graphics into the software.

    • +2

design your own in any other software e.g. illustrator and export SVGs.

  • Thanks OP, bought one from HN

  • +1

how does the vinyl sheet cost?

  • OOS already

  • Bought one but don't even know what to use it for or how to use it.

Will take any guides or tips

  • OOS HN too

  • The mug machine at $98 looks like a decent price too

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/cricut-mug-press.html

    • It costs $4.5 ($6.5 rrp) per print/sheet and 5$ ($7 rrp) per mug if I am correct.

  • Checking this deal yesterday and got its feed on my youtube already. How's fast and related is that?

  • Excellent deal. Thanks op!

    Just picked up from HN.

Thanks for this. Got it price beat @ officeworks this afternoon.

Just found out that my local library had these machines to loan (and a larger one to use on site).
If you are not planning to use it all the time, check if you can get it from your library.

  • Tempted to get for the wife as a gift for mothers from the kids but I sure she will use it, kids will probably want to use it more or they all get involved but it looks very small and possibly limited on what it can do compared to bigger models

  • Price now back to $178
