    What router do I combine with this? Mine is too slow. Was hoping for triband but it seems the only cheap option, the TP-Link AXE5400, is known for drop outs and not being great with the portal?

    I see there's the ASUS RT-BE92U and the ASUS RT-AXE7800

    I don't know anything about the gl.inet but I heard there's a v3 or something coming soon

      Gl-inet flint 2 will do fine and can be had around $200, great router for the price.

      Just make sure your ps5 is plugged in via Ethernet and not WiFi

          PlayStation Portal was unusable for me when my ps5 was on wifi. Ended up getting some access points with ethernet ports. Plugged the ps5 in and it improved the portal tenfold. I have good internet speeds too.

        In my experience this is so much more important than having a good wifi connection to the Portal.

      I use a TP-Link archer ax73 which is pretty old these days. Works perfectly

      I had a ROG ally and much higher streaming bitrate than the portal and also never had an issue. Highly recommend the ps5 be connected via ethernet

      For those with connection issues. I just bought one (April 2025) and found what works best.

      1. Hard wire the PS5 to your router (in my case, mesh network). This is ESSENTIAL!

      2. Use static IP's for both the PS5 and the Portal. There are guides online for how to do this. This solved my connection dropping every 10 minutes.

      *note - I think this turned off fhe WOL funtion that serves wake from sleep. This could be important if your out and about, for me im at home so turing on the PS5 with my controller is np.

      1. Obviously, force connect the portal to the 5GHz signal, via router settings. Make sure it's strong (use an app to test the signal strength). You'll be surprised how just moving the router a foot will change things.

      I've had great success with mine. Plays amazing, clear and little to no perceivable lag. Its pretty cool to be able to play Oblivion Remastered in bed! But I think is a product that requires a niche network setup.

    Check for dead pixels out of the box. Never in my life have I had a device with a dead pixel and straight out the box my first one of these had it. Fortunately it's replacement is fine and working wonderfully

      I was worried about the speakers myself. They really aren't that bad, much better than a switch OLED. But not as good as a rog ally just sorts in-between
