NAB Rewards Platinum Card with Velocity - 60,000 Velocity Points ($1000 Spend in 60 Days, + 20,000 after 12mo), $95 1st Year Fee

1590

Pretty decent points/annual fee in current times - surprised it hasn't been posted already.

I personally was approved immediately online which is a real breath of fresh air compared to other recent applications.
Also didn't seem to matter that my last application was with Citi and I still hold $10k card with Citi, even though I think NAB/Citi are the same company now.

Exclusion: no NAB Rewards within 18 months. It seems NAB treats their "Rewards" and Qantas rewards cards separately from this perspective.
Pointhacks says: "NAB has confirmed that any existing customers on a NAB direct-earn Qantas card, such as the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature and NAB Qantas Rewards Platinum, are eligible for this offer, subject to meeting the offer requirements." "The bonus points offer is not available to existing customers who have received or are entitled to receive NAB Rewards Bonus Points for a new personal NAB Rewards credit card or NAB Home Loan in the 18 months prior to the opening of a NAB Rewards Signature Card or NAB Rewards Platinum Card."

  • Anyone just manually transferred rather than waiting for the auto transfer? Had the points sitting in my account for two weeks now and still waiting for them to sweep across to velocity

    • Do you value velocity pointshigher than gift cards?

When converting to Amazon/Coles/WW gift cards we can basically get 1c per point value but for supermarket gift cards.
Points are usually valued around 1.4c each but risk of getting banned if you sell points

I have over a mill now of velocity & qantas combined so think I might just redeem the NAB points before they get transferred if it is an option

      • 12.5K points gives you a $50 annual fee refund which I believe you can redeem in multiples. So 120K should give you $450 cashback with 7500 points remaining which you can redeem for GC or transfer to Velocity.

        • Good spot, but 10,210 equals a $50 gc for Amazon or the supermarkets. If you didn't shop at these places regularly cash would be a good deal still

      • Yeah, just spent the bulk of my QFF and VFF points on J and F redemptions, some getting value as high as 7.5c per point (EK F ftw!), so trying to build up my stash again :-)

And don't see why you couldn't just redeem them for gift cards. I was able to manually transfer rather than waiting for the auto redemption, and all the other options were avail also.

    • I did that and the points went over 24h
When I did it I received an email saying 10 days…
I called them they said they couldn't cancel it, so I was ready to wait but they came quick.
Though something I didn't know is that the auto transfer always comes on the 4th Sunday of the month, now I know.

  • Anyone else getting an error immediately after putting your address in?

    • +1

Yes. I had that with multiple browsers, phone, PC. Ended up applying over the phone. Painful.

      • Did ya end up getting accepted?

        • +1

Conditionally approved 7 days ago (Friday)
Sent through proof of income immediately.
Case manager got in contact Monday to get me to accept waiver for credit check
          Haven't heard anything since

  • has anyone gotten the bonus points recently?
met my minimum spend around 2 weeks ago, and still waiting for the bonus points.
have spent around $1300 and received the base 1300 points

have already received the first 2 weeks statement.

    • Received my bonus points today, 3 days after my 2nd statement was issued. I met the minimum spend within the first 1-2 weeks of receiving the card.

      • That's good to know.

I met the minimum spend around the same timeframe as you did.

My second statement is expected in 2 weeks' time.

So I should get my bonus points before the end of the month and can cancel early next month so I'm ready to churn again (probably time for another Velocity bonus points deal).

        • Can you please give an update once you receive your points

          • @gembel: No probs.

Please do the same if you get yours.

            • @Mugsy: Received the NAB rewards bonus points last night.
Should automatically transfer to velocity end of the month.
And hopefully qualify for the bonus 20k velocity points.

But also contemplating to manually transfer to Krisflyer…

              • @gembel: Nice one!

Mine have yet to come but my second statement (first full month) isn't arriving until a few days from now. I'll be keeping any eye from the weekend.

Yes, hopefully we also qualify for the 20k velocity points.

The discussion thread indicates some sort of confirmation email though which I never got. Still, I'll be using my NAB Rewards card for another half year or so… they seem to be cracking down on churners and I'd like to open up an AMEX velocity platinum card in the future for 100k+ points and the free domestic return flight so would prefer that application to have a good chance at being approved.

              • @gembel: I got my email advising of the NAB rewards bonus points yesterday or the day before… I've yet to get my second months' reward points deposited into my Velocity account but I'm anticipating the 60k velocity points to come soon.

Now do I stick with NAB for a while longer or do I cancel and try for another card to see if I can get that 20k points offer?

                • @Mugsy: Im just gonna hope I'll get the bonus 20k points for this NAB card.
Will pay off the card and close it as soon as I can.

                  • @gembel: The 20k bonus points for NAB requires the card to be kept open till early 2026 sometime… it's in the T&Cs for the 20k velocity points promo.

                    • @Mugsy: I believe if you choose 20k points, it will come by 28th February 2026.

Only if you choose the other option you will need to keep your auto transfer until March 2026.

                      I will gamble on this!

                    • @Mugsy: points transferred to my velocity account overnight. now just need to pay the balance and close the card.

                      • @gembel: I got my points overnight too.

I'm still undecided on cancelling the card. Need to see what expenses I have coming up that may satisfy another card churn. Wife and I are trying to keep it frugal for a while to increase our savings.

                        • @Mugsy: @gembel@Mugsy Did either of you also happen to get the 20k bonus in addition as well?

  • I met the spending criteria on 5 June 2025, and it's now been over two months, but I still haven't received the bonus points. NAB states that points are typically credited within 90 days. Is anyone else experiencing the same delay?

    • Did you add your velocity number and enrol in auto redemption to velocity?

      • +1

the points are landing the 4th Sunday of the month, so depends when you reached the minimum spending if within a statement or not, otherwise will be after the statement + 4th Sunday of the month

        • This is very useful information if true - how did you find this out?

        • should get my 2nd statement (first full month statement) this week.
so fingers crossed I'll receive the bonus nab rewards points by next weekend

  • Is this card eligible for the 20,000 pts offer?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/919520

    • Yes!

  • I closed my NAB Qantas card 6 months ago. I was going to apply for the NAB rewards platinum card today. I called NAB to check if I'd be eligible for the bonus points. He checked with the rewards team, and said NO, as I'd received bonus points through NAB in the last 18 months, it didn't matter that they were Qantas points, it just mattered that I'd received points through NAB in the last 18 months.
Is this correct. I know it's not like this with ANZ.

    • They probably BS you. Ring back and ask for the T&Cs that has the clause on about “not eligible if already received any points".

  • Will do. Thank you.

  • Hi everyone
The offer on the Nab website/app for the rewards platinum card is 80k bonus rewards ($3k min spend), but this offer is better. Would I still be eligible for this if I applied via the app as I'm a current customer?

  • does government payment count for the everyday purchase for bonus points?

    • Should count using sniip or paypal on post billpay. Terms say government charges don't count, but i got nonbonus points on council rates using postbillpay/paypal.

  • Seems nab has upped the exclusion period to 24 months.

Bonus points are not available to customers who currently hold, or have held, any personal NAB Rewards Credit Card in the last 24 months.

    • At least they're still only put restriction on the Qantas and Rewards separately - unlike StG or Westpac.

      • NAB's cooling down period for their Qantas cards used to be 18 months since receiving bonus points (NOT since closing the card) so it was quite generous. I haven't revisited the t&c but I suspect it's also changed now.

        • receiving bonus points (NOT since closing the card)

I mean for churners that's pretty much the same thing haha.

      • That was also one of the biggest change with ANZ when they did their doubling to 24 months. Qantas & Rewards exclusion periods now combined.

  • I've tried to apply 3 times online and I keep getting a page saying unexpected error has occurred try again later :/ Every time have to start the application again!

    • Do you have an existing account/profile with NAB?

      • Nope which means I can’t save the application

        • Oh I only asked as that error would also come up if you had duplicate entries in your existing NAB profile. But in your case might just have to try different browsers/networks or wait a few days. Couldn't even apply for this card over the phone or in branch as I got told it's an online-only product lol.
