Haven't had quite a positive experience with Lycamobile, compared to other telcos.

    • Forced agreement to auto renewal on sign up, have to opt out after activation.
    • Hard limit of 5 services per person and 2 active services at anytime. Tried cancelling/deactivating but couldn't.
    • Latency quite bad, sometimes can't connect to the internet, sometimes takes a few seconds before pages start loading.
    • Rude customer service.

Even though the appeal of this plan is heaps of data, it's most likely unusable. Better off with Boost 65GB for $13 (25GB/$39 ongoing) for the same price point.

    • My experience also included very slow speeds and poor latency, but I put that down to being in regional area.

      • Give Felix a shot and see if it's the same, both use Vodafone's network.

    • Agree wholely, autorenew stupid + customer service very slow and hard to get hold of.

    Lie-ca

  • I have been using Lyca Mobile long expiry plan with one of my numbers for nearly a month and it's been great so far. Such a great value! Thanks, OP.

It's rare to find a company that is so thoroughly unpleasant in every aspect — from its products and services to its policies. A company like Lyca deserves to be shut down.

    Does not compute

  • Reiterating for ready reference:

I had read terrible reviews about Lyca, more so about how they renew your plan even if you set Auto-Renew to OFF.
The confusion being, there are two things: Auto-renew and Auto-Recharge. I turned off both and avoided being charged for second month.

I haven't experienced any of the above, and had just got Lyca for a friend - used this offer who came in as a tourist for 3 weeks. Did not get charged for the second month, after keeping both Auto-Renew and Auto-Recharge off.

    • Not saying it can't happen but I've signed up like 5 times with a new number, turned off auto recharge and never been charged again.

  • When are you removing your 5 services limit per lifetime of the user ??

  • I will not use Lyca anymore. They must get quite a few extra dollars by catching unwary customers like me with their Auto-renew and Auto-recharge puzzle.

    • I just realised I was caught! I made sure I turned auto renawal off as soon as I activated. But now reading this discussion, I thought to check. Seems that I had turned off auto recharge, but not auto renewal! And what do you know, those bastards indeed had charged me a few days ago. I don't even know what the difference is between those two, and now that I try to turn the auto renewal off, the website just does not work. Nothing happens when I try to press to manage it. I anyway deleted my saved credit card. Was actually suprised that deleting it worked even. Lets see if they respond anything to my emails. Might try and dispute the credit card transaction. Scammers they are indeed, lesson learned.

  • Never again for Lyca

  • (profanity) Lyca.
Bought a physical sim and sign up to add one of their online plans - not possible, told to buy a sim through the website to get the deal.
When it auto-renewed (when I wanted it to), downgraded me to a lower plan without the bonus GB promised.
Gaslighted me when I called up their customer service - their email service even worse. Told me that I bought the sim through a third party when I bought it on their website. Multiple emails without resolution.
And then when I had had enough and decided to use another sim - got caught out with auto-renew and auto-recharge.

    • The list just doesn't end!
