      Fcuking Kogan hating on churners.

And ANZ apparently :( Almost no decent churns left

Weird, my ANZ is still going great guns, although i've banked with them my whole life. It's one of the few that auto accept me everytime.

AMEX, Westpac and St George on the other hand hate me.

          • +1

@Drakesy: ANZ are now 24 months wait and can only go for one card (not both reward types). The game is up.

I've said this before as well, but it's worth reminding any new people considering the Kogan Black credit card:

You need something reliable to spend the Kogan credit card points on, otherwise the 1% earn back rate is meaningless. Ideally, something that you would have bought in the first place without the credit card influencing you.

Spending the points on random crap from Kogan.com that you otherwise would not have bought and which may end up in landfill shortly after the novelty wears off, will nullify the 1% earn back rate as well.

Example 1: You already look for Kogan Mobile voucher deals every year and are happy with Vodafone coverage in the areas you frequent. Cutting a few tens of dollars off your yearly mobile bill can make the already discounted Kogan Mobile vouchers an even better deal.
If Vodafone coverage is terrible/nonexistent where you are, then this is obviously not a good idea, since cheap big data is of no use if you cannot use any of it.
Vodafone and Optus have been sharing towers in country areas since early 2025 to better compete with Telstra.

Example 2: You are already with other Kogan branded utilities, there is an option to pay with points and you are happy to stick with them longer term rather than constantly churning energy providers for sign up credits and the like.
Obviously this soft locks you into Kogan utilities since leaving them will also cut off one of the ways to redeem points.

Interesting you brought this up. I have an open dispute with them for using points to pay off my Kogan internet but didn't get credited for that amount. Wrote to them and they refunded the points saying their system currently have trouble using points to pay for Kogan services with no ETA when they will resolve this. So effectively Example 2 is N/A for now.

I've always wondered how cc companies make money

    • +3

Off the lowest 1% that use it as an actual line of credit, unlike us who just use and abuse.

      • +1

        And the merchant fees…..
But yeah, definitely not off me.

      • +1

In addition they also charge for every transaction. sometimes that cost is passed on to you directly. sometimes its "free" which means it's passed on to everyone transacting with that business equally irrespective of what payment method anyone uses

Used to be $400, then $350, now $300

      shrinkflation!

Think it was $500 at some point a few years ago too. Credit card deals are just getting worse and worse :(

  • Just got stung the late fee today. Contacted and got them waived.

So there is no email/text notification for statement since the migration.

    Electronic statements
We'll no longer send you electronic statements as an email attachment. Instead, you'll be able to access statements securely via the new Mobile App and Online. We'll send you an email or SMS when your statement is available to be viewed.

I noticed the app no longer sends notifications for payments due etc. If you go into the notification settings in app it just says "contact us online" which leads to a webpage that opens a chat. On my phone I wasn't able to type anything into the chat box… Was there any indication they would be fixing the in app notifications?

Anyone on how long to get the Kogan credit ?

    • As a non-Gerry shopper I was wondering myself. What else to buy with?

  • Beware this credit card - clunky interfaces and patchy reminders leading to late fees. Also if anything goes wrong, their support is woeful. For example good luck initiating a chargeback. Their support staff don't speak very good English.

  • Can i get this, put it away, and just keep it for the kogan first subscription… then use other payment options to buy stuff? Is there any hidden fees if you never use it?

    • no hidden fee.
