I would rather LeapCliff than be seen dead in a LeapMotor.

I can see where the designers got their inspo FFS

It looks like most other mid sized SUV's on the road - interior actually looks schmick on the 'Design' variant https://www.leapmotor.net/au/c10

      • +2

Yeah couldn't look any more like a generic mid sized SUV if they tried.

    • +3

I understand how you feel, but maybe try being seen in a Jeep or something first.

      • True. I would like to retract my previous statement.

    • I know there's no accounting for taste, but I think the worst I could say about the outside is it's a bit generic. I think my eyes would slide right past it irl. It is by no means hideous

    • Looks like every other SUV….

Looks like the designers asked AI "what happens when you mix a Cayenne, an ASX and an iD4 into one car?".

I got nothing against Chinese cars but man what the hell is with the name

I like the 'badge design' but leapmotor is just bad it would of been better if it was just LP - like BYD does Build your dreams is a TERRIBLE name but when it is BYD it is smoother and cleaner like BMW is a great name but i cant even pro-nounce what the german names it stands for

    • +1

Then you've got the Deepal ;)

    • build your dream and great wall

    • +5

      Bavarian Motor Works.

Also, BYD doesn't stand for Build Your Dreams. In fact, it doesn't stand for anything. Build Your Dreams is a backronym. A bit of marketing they're getting rid of because they didn't understand how ridiculously it would be received by western markets.

      • +1

        Technically it's

        Bayerische Motoren Werke

      • +1

I think “BYD” was the contraction of their name in pinyin in Chinese, it was something like “Biyadi” and got reduced to BYD… but yes, “Build Your Dreams” was 100% a backronym that came after the original name already existed.

      • Bavarian Motor Works.

obviously that sounds better then its 'actual' BMW - Bayerische Motoren Werke

I wouldn't buy cars from leapmotor as a newer variant c11 has caught fire 3 times China for 2024 alone.

And that was only the official report. Who know how many incidents that were not reported or covered up.

    • +1

As of the end of 2024, there are 453,000,000 vehicles on the road in China. 3? Evan Toyota would have a way larger number than three.

      • +3

        Who is Evan?

Edit: NVM I found the answer

    • You'd think if you were running a cover up, you'd cover up all of them.
