Silly RRP makes 40% ineffective compared to Costco.

    195/50/15 re003
    $509.97 Fitted at Costco
    Mycar should beat/match.

    Bobjane
    $561.60

    DYOR.

Same here. They've jacked my tyres to some ridiculous RRP price that I've never even seen in 10 years or more.

      • +16

They have followed the Colesworth model. Jack up prices and then say you’ve lowered them 40% when it’s 10% higher than the previous price from last year

        • +6

          Username checks out

      • I'm sure you used to be able to get Ecopia EP100s for $80-$90. Now they're $135.

    • +1

To be fair it probably includes an embarrassment tax for those tyre dimensions in 2025 😉

      • can't we just assume he's got TOM'S magnesium racing rims instead?

    • 245/45/R18 are $18 cheaper at BobJane than they are at Costco (Potenza Sport).

There's no silly RRP going on for this size.

      Or this one :
205/45/R17 are $15 cheaper at BobJane than they are at Costco (RE003).

    • +2

So do the prices on the Costco website include fitting. I was wondering this the other day when I was looking at tyres.

      • +2

Yes, and balancing, nitrogen and disposal.

    • Do you need to be a member to get the tyres at costco?

      • yes

  • +1

Depends on which tyres you're looking at:

215/55R17 98V Ecopia EP150 (not the best tyre but my car needs a load rating of 98)

    Bridgestone - $846
    Costco - $719.97
    BJ - $676.80

    • +8

      That's ab expensive BJ

    • Honda Odyssey?

      • Yep, which is rather annoying but it is what it is. Who knows why only the Australian/Oceania specs requires 98.

        • Have a look at Michelin PS5.

  • +1

Discount doesn't apply when you add staggered fitment set of 4 to the cart. FFS. How hard could it be?

  • For 285/45 R20 Potenza Sport, I have called BJ and they said the tyre is only sold to Porsche due to limited stock and cannot be purchased for other makes.

    • They can do that?

      • I suspect they can. Also check out Porche custom colours. You can pay 30k just for the colour of your car. I think their customers would expect and given exclusivity.

    • That's really odd. They aren't even N rated for Porsche and I believe only the EV Macan uses these dimensions and they have an exclusive compound for the potenza sport range. Try a different store.

      • Tried 2 BJ stores, they called Bridgestone or some supplier and both got the same response.

        • Dang. How odd.

This is my source for the exclusive compound.

Pretty sure the earlier Macan 20s are 295 width.

          • @MS Paint: It is strange. I have no idea why a tyre that should not fit any stock Porsche would be restricted to only Porsche vehicles.

      • +1

I'm looking at my Bridgestone ordering site and it looks like the Potenza and Turanza are both restricted in that size for Porsche and Audi respectively. Interestingly they do have the Potenza designated as a NE0 on the site at least

        • Well that makes sense then. I assume the E in NE0 stands for EV's which backs up my theory that these are saved for the new Macan EV.

  • Damn, I wish I was in the market for some tyres RN.

  • How good are the re003s for a daily driver?

    • +1

Online reviews are mixed but I have them on one of my cars and they are awesome once up to temp in the dry. Never used them in the wet and probably never will. It has pretty much eliminated torque steer for me.

For a daily you probably won't get good mileage. Pretty soft compound. If you don't drive spiritedly then I would look elsewhere.

    • Its obviously a great tyre all round but you might not get the full benefits of it, as a driver thats not taking advantage of its grip. It saved a life when I was in the pouring rain. Couldn't see a thing, a bus blocked my view of the lights and it ran a red light, just missing a person crossing. I almost did too but tyres stopped on a dime before I hit the pedestrain. Legendary stopping! Its like turning your car into a race car with the Potenzas, you can go so much faster around corners and keep that speed as it goes around, as if stuck to the road. Like the other comment said, its a soft compound. So you will not have it last as long as other tyres. 3 years max I'd say and it will be done. It will likely not be a smoother ride. As its designed more to feel the road. For me there was a noticeable drop in grip every 4-6 months. I wasn't a hoon but just rare moments I'd flex it. At the time I was driving around 250km a week.

    • I found them ok, there is better out there but with these type of deal makes it a ok

    • They are way better than chinese brand tyres, good as a daily but not as good in the wet as Michelin Pilot Sport 4 or 5.

This is a BS offer - needs to be downvoted

  • +1

    $35 cheaper than Costco.

    RE003 235/45/17 x4 is $660

    BJ is $625..

    However, there is also..

The price includes GST, fitting, balancing, tyre disposal, tubeless valves (excluding TPMS), and an Australia-wide warranty. If on a Buy 3 Get 1 Free promotion, a $25 in-store fitting fee applies to the fourth (free) tyre..

That said, how much is nitrogen filled tyres worth? I've had nitrogen filled and in the whole 10 years of having them, never had to pump them up..

Plus, does BJ offer an instore restaurant of $2.99 pizzas and $2.50 hot dogs and pepsi max :)

  • +3

Crap price. I paid around $500 for 4 potenzas on my subi at bridgestone during a buy-3-4th-free deal, listed as $450 each. Downvote for price jacking and fake discount

  • I like saying the word crap

  • How does Costco work? Does it include free puncture repairs, free nitrogen refills and free rotations and balancing for the life of the tyres? Can't quite figure out if they are saying that is all included for the life of the tyres, or just one off's.

  • What are their best performance tyres if RE-71RS isn't included?

  • +6

People downvoting should check Bridgestone's website pricing before complaining. It might be official price increase instead of jacking up by the retailer. I just checked my tyres and its the same rrp as Bridgestone. Essentially 25% (buy 3 get 1 free) vs 40% (Bob Jane)

  • Does Bob Jane fill tyres with nitrogen/wheel balance/rotation/flat repair and defect warranty etc like costco? Im interested in getting the bridgestone ep300 for my car.

  • Same tyres cheaper by $40 at Costco for me

  • RE003 For my Subie, good deal?

    $840.00

    245/40R18

    • +1

This isnt a good deal but BJ price matching is. Get prices from Tempe Tyres, BJ will match and add 5%.

For my VA STI, I got Potenza sports 245/45R18 For $1K. I went from 245/40R18 due to 40 profile being too harsh IMO plus I like thicc tires. RE003s are an old design.

    • +1

No its a very average price. Potenzas on Subies are king though. AWD really suits the tyre cos of the balanced car and gives you the maximum grip with no bodyroll.

      • Average price at $840? Yes they used to be sold at just over $200 each but that was like 2-3 years ago. $350 each for this size seems to be normal price these days at most tyre shops. Massively inflated prices but that's how things seem to be these days.

    • The RE003 is an old design that first came to Australia in 2015. I'm surprised it's still being sold as the RE004 has been in Asia since 2020. You could try the Potenza Sport that comes up to $921 after discount. As for Tempe Tyres price matching, I've not had a good experience with my local Bob Janes. They refuse to match or beat Tempe's prices, and will add transport costs etc on top of it. Maybe if you call Bob Jane HQ directly you might it. Then again Tempe Tyres for these Bridgestone tyres in this 245/40/18 size cannot match this current 40% Bob Jane deal.

I’m not sure if comparing a membership based store with a non- membership based store is fair.

Not everyone has a Costco membership or has store nearby.

  • +1

Ecopias are terrible tyres. I do not know about the other.

    • Interested why? I thought ecopias are generally well regarded?

    • i have the EP300 on my car and like them. what makes them terrible?

      • They're not terrible but they are the basic entry level for Bridgestone. Economic tyres with no real features. They don't have many cheaper options so a lot of people go with the Ecopia. Bridgestone are more known for their sporty tyres like Potenzas or their luxury car touring tyres like the Turanza. Most other models are left out in the cold.

        • I would argue the entry level Bridgestone branded tyre is still much better than a budget tyre. Firestone, Dayton and Supercat are all manufactured by Bridgestone and occupy quality levels below the Ecopia

  • +1

    Bridgestone Ecopia EP300 205/55R16

    $532 Bob Jane
    $599 Costco

  • 195/65 R15 comes in at $492 for 4 which is a great deal as compared to $666 for buy 3 get 1 free

However buying from bridge stone gives hazard warranty which can be used to replace tyres for free under 10% wear and pro rated cost for more wear. Don't know how much it will work in practise if you get a puncture that cannot be fixed and you may be forced to buy 2 tyres at cost price and get only discount on one

Wonder if the savings outweigh the lack of this warranty
