In the market for a gaming laptop to take with me overseas to study and game and came across this cracker of a deal for a 5080 laptop with decent reviews. Alas, it's a bit too heavy and large for my purposes but hopefully it will be of use to others :)

    Too expensive

Agree but current market value says this is pretty well priced to competitors offerings. Hopefully this will drive value in the 40XX space.

Cheaper by a few hundred compared to almost every other 5080 laptop. What price would you be consider a deal?

    • Even with the rate cut from yesterday, the saving on my mortgage payment still can't afford one, so sad …

      • Yup. Still slowly eating into my savings. Less now, but still.

What's with these gaming laptop deals after I bought a secondhand Zephyrus G16 on eBay? T_T

Mate you're living my dream. The G14 and G16 are the ideal laptops for my situation but they never seem to go on particularly steep discount. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a 5070 Ti G14 to dip below $4000 sometimes soon

      • I'm keeping my eye out for JB hi-fi commerical. The 5080 version is $5k there

        • Yeah I can get the 5080 at Officeworks for roughly the same through the team member discount but it still doesn't seem that worth it when the 5070 Ti is within single digits of performance and should be much cheaper

Considering even the 5090m is only low single digits of gains compared to the 4090m, paying a 5080m for 3.7k doesnt seem exactly like a deal when 4090m omen was frequently going for sub 3k last year, heck if you were one of the few that jumped on the deal with the cashback its a whole 1000$ cheaper.

    F*** you nvidia

  • What are those MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 MT7925 cards like?

  • I went for the 5070 ti version for $3,270. Hoping it won't power throttle and auto-shutdown as much as the 5080 ;)
