    Equivalent of 13% off

      Correct 13.04347826% effective discount.

      • -1

Neg because you gave 10 significant digits but didn't consider the effect of future inflation against the cards present value.

        • There is no future inflation if you use it on the same day.

          • +3

@Oh Daddy: If 10 significant figures are presented, there might really be an inflation rate even in the same day

        • +2

Neg because you didn't account for the possibility of deflation.

Maths me please. If I spend $230, but it only cost me $200, that’s a 15% discount!?!?!

      • +4

You are getting 15% extra spend in that example, which isn’t the same as 15% off

        15% discount on $230 would be $195.5

      • +10

Fundamentally, a discount describes the amount you save in respect to the value of the product.

If we use this recent Ultimate gift card deal as an example, you would have received a 10% discount on the purchase price of selected Ultimate gift cards. If you scanned a $50 Ultimate Everyone gift card at the checkout, the checkout would reduce the price to $45, and the gift card will be loaded with $50. In other words:

        • Purchase price = $45
        • Gift card value = $50
        • Discount = (gift card value - purchase price) / gift card value = (50 - 45) / 50 = 0.1 = 10%

In this upcoming Myer deal, you are purchasing a gift card at the amount listed on the gift card, but the gift card will be loaded with 15% extra credit. For example, if you purchase a $200 Myer gift card, you will need to pay $200 upfront for it, but the gift card will actually be loaded with $230. In other words:

        • Purchase price = $200
        • Gift card value = $230
        • Discount = (gift card value - purchase price) / gift card value = (230 - 200) / 230 ≈ 0.13 = 13%

          TY appreciate it

Oooh good way to get RM williams for cheeep

I wonder if Myer will have switch 2 on release or closer afterwards…..🤔

  • Is it possible to stack this with cashback at myer?

    • +5

      No.

Myer lists the redemption of a Myer gift card (or Coles Group & Myer gift card, for that matter) as something that will invalidate cashback via TopCashback, Cashrewards, etc (and Myer actually enforces this). However, that may not be such a bad thing if you were going to purchase an item that is ineligible for cashback anyway (e.g. Aesop, Dior, Hermes, CHANEL).

  • +3

Dang they won't stock the Nintendo switch 2

  • good deal! Wish they'd do something similar with DJ's

  • are these myer only - or coles/myergroup

    • +4

This deal is only for Myer gift cards (and those can only be redeemed at Myer).

      • -7

Around these parts, we call them Myers.

  • Damn! It's after Lancome gift with purchase ends (24/May).

  • So close to 15% off

  • great time to buy perfume, thanks op

Anyone know if this has an expiry?

  • What are the denominations?

    • +1

      It should be $50, $100 and $200.

  • How is Myer’s price beat policy in practice? Will they beat eg. JB hifi without too much drama?

    • They will price match, not sure about beat. And it's no fuss. Just show them the competitor's product on your phone and they will happily match it.

    • +1

I have had them refuse price match few times because supposedly goes below their cost.

  • Does Myers stock other vendor gift cards?

    • +1

Over the last couple of years, I have only seen Myer stores sell Myer gift cards and Coles Group & Myer gift cards.

      • +1

        Appreciated!

Local coles sold out of gift cards had to drive to another store, so was popular deal.

Bought 2 myer gift cards tonight, the trasaction was "approved" on the receipt, but when I checked the balance at home, the card status is "Cancelled". Can anyone give me a hand?

    • +1

Same here. Got 3 gift cards. Will call Myer tomorrow.

      • Have you called?

        • Nope, giving a day or two based on other comments. As many people are experiencing the same issue, Myer may fix it, and I can save a call.

          • @Ede6725: My cards are activated.

However, I called and the support person advised to email [email protected], attaching the cards and receipt copies. While preparing, I found that my cards are activated with $15 bonus value.

    • +1

yep same, but seems to be a delay in activation

see same experience on previous deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/855900

I'd give it 24hrs to show correctly.

At the bottom of my receipt it says "bonus value applied" which is a good start

  • +1

Same here, Lego sale end in 2hour

    • Missed out on the sale, and chance to combine with a point offer as well, because my cards were "cancelled". Impeccable timing 🙃

& Morningside @ Brisbane had plenty of stock for anyone still after them in the area.

  • Does anyone know if these gift cards can be used with Myer online, and if they allow for multiple gift cards per online transaction?

  • +1

I bought 3 Myer gift cards last night. The transaction was "approved" on the receipt, but when I checked the balance, the card status was "Cancelled." Scam or late activation?

    • Same for me today!

      • Update - my card is showing the correct amount now

    • same thing!

    • +1

I had the same issue, I bought them yesterday and checked the balance online and it was showing as cancelled both yesterday and today. I called Myer customer service this morning and they said it is a known issue, and advised me to email the gift card customer service team with my gift cards and receipt and they will look into it.

      • Hey can I check this is the email you were told [email protected]?

I was asked to send a photo of the card, front and back, and the receipt, and the balance I'm expecting.

  • +1

Hi all, just an update my card balances are now showing on the Myer website correctly.

Hopefully the same on your end

    • Yes! Mine was purchased on monday night, and the issue date says today - an extra 2 days of expirary, what a bargain! /s
