    delivers 110% colour?
    thats unpossible

Yes it is. It means 110% of sRGB for people that aren't in the know and think percentages over 100 are amazing and should have money thrown at it.
Edit: Apparently it's 110% of something slightly obscure, still it's not unfathomable.

      AdobeRGB (96% Coverage)
sRGB emulates 72% of NTSC Color (100% Coverage)
      U2410 Color Gamut (Typical) is based on CIE1976 (110%) and CIE1931 (102%)

why not realise it was a joke?

i thought using 'unpossible' would make it obvious.
        clearly not.

This isn't particularly cheap, same price as when I was looking at them a few days ago.

  • What is the refresh rate on this model?

    • All Dell monitors are 60hz, save the Alienware AW2310 which is a 120hz monitor.

    • If you meant the Response Time then it is a super fast: 6ms (gray to gray) Typical

      • No, that's not the same as refresh rate (which DracZ provided).

  • Is it really that good? I have seen 24" monitors (not "ultrasharp" or anything) go for around $150 or even less sometimes (I currently have 2 which I got for about $160 each - acer v243HL). Is it really worth nearly $500 for one monitor?

Note that the cheaper ones are 1920x1080, but is the widescreen really necessary?

    • If you're not a graphic designer/artist/colourphile then you definitely don't need it. Dell has cheaper IPS panels for half the price.

I'm currently using one and thought I'd be using it a lot for colour accuracy tasks, but since I don't have a clue how to tweak it correctly, the monitor is sort of wasted on me. Although I don't regret buying it since the colour looks amazing and the viewing angles are a huge bonus.

For those curious, I bought mine back in early 2010 for $440.

    • The U2412M ($279 is Dell's 'special' price) is a more suitable choice for an IPS display for the general consumer. Since it's not a run-of-the-mill LED LCD display, the higher price is somewhat justifiable - as talismansa said, the colour accuracy is 2410's main selling point and is therefore more than both the U2412M and general LED LCD's. Dell monitors also have quite a good reputation, FWIW.

And 16:10 vs 16:9 is based on personal preference and usage requirements. 16:9 is fine for most cases, so 16:10 isn't 'necessary' (depending on what you're using it for, though).
