Note: Only 2 OS updates (up to Android 16).

Does this have an unlocked bootloader?

      • No phone comes with an unlocked bootloader as that would break Play Integrity and therefore 50% of apps. From what I can work out, unlocking the bootloader has no officially supported method

      Bizarre decision.
If any phone should have a long OS upgrade cycle you'd think it would be one like this.

Do we not quite processor model numbers these days

    • Why is this brand discontinued?

Specs are quite bad for the price, IMO not really worth it for repair either since parts aren't exactly cheap.

    • Compare the price of parts to the cost of parts+labour for a similar phone.

I got a Quote to get a new battery in my s21 ultra, the quote was at $250.

At that price I'm happy to sacrifice a bit of performance on my next phone to have something with a replaceable battery.

      • You are assuming HMD will be around when you need a new battery.

        • +1

More likely there will be hardly anyone who will stock the battery in the country (and they're probably old stock), given how rare this phone is.

With the Samsung flagships there will be aftermarket batteries available everywhere for years to come. Or maybe find a place to swap the battery when you're holidaying in Asia.

I doubt this will be a proprietary battery. Would be interested to see what purchasers find when they open the back

    Ah yes good old Nokia

Poco F6 seems better at this price 🤔

  • No way I’d ever consider this Barca related brand.

  • +1

Poor CPU performance, heavy, only 1.25 years of support remaining
    Not worth it.

  • +2

What's the point of a repairable phone when the OS is going to be so out of date?

    • You get to flash a custom ROM to keep it updated. They wouldn't want to shortchange you on the amount of repair you can do.

  • +2

    CPU:Snapdragon® 7s Gen 2

    • Yeah that ain't a great cpu

  • Does it come preloaded with the snake game?

  • +2

Motorola phones offer way more and for way less!
    Yeah nah

  • quick spec search:

    Qualcomm SM7435-AB Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 (4 nm)

    basically rubbish…..

  • HMD self repairable phone

I think you mean "user repairable" because I doubt it can repair itself.

I threw it in water, then drove a car over it and then put it in a shredder.
I left it under my pillow last night and it still hasn't repaired itself. I am so pi$$ed.
    False advertising!
