[AGL Energy Customer] nbn 100/20 $65/Month for 6 Months ($89/M Ongoing) @ AGL

90

Was looking for somebody to move to from Superloop as I"m reaching 6 months. This seems like a good deal if you already have AGL energy (which I just moved into due to Econnex) for 100/20

Just wondering what the reviews are for this one as compared to the other decent ones

have you tried calling Superloop and see if they can give you 6 more months? Just wondering if that works…

I've been with SL for 3yrs. I once called them to say I'd found a much better deal and was planning to move immediately but was happy with their service and would stay if they could offer something even remotely reasonable. I didn't get offered anything whatsoever.

I've tried this twice while exiting, they go through the whole "I'll take to my manager" routine, then offer a piddly $5 discount. Both times I cancelled and kept the churn with Leaptel/Exetel going

  • It was a fair bit cheaper recently, I'd try first to see if I can get this offer over the Eau de Cologne: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/904419

The service was so disappointing that I couldn’t stay beyond two weeks

  • Hit and miss with AGL
in my townhouse it was fine but a 5min walk to my inlaws places in an apartment block is was terrible and kept dropping every 2nd day.

If its bad 5 mins down the road, maybe its the router at your in laws place or the wires used in their home isn't great or the modem/router isn't configured properly to AGL's service. I've been hopping ISP's a lot lately, and I re-signed up to dodo at one point (they were perfect for my house years ago), but this time around they were terrible. Turns out, my modem wasn't configured properly to their service. After we did the configuration, the internet went back to being stable.

Keep in mind that this is only somewhat reasonable if you are an AGL energy customer so really it ties you into that. Without the energy discount, you're looking at $109/month after the promotional period is up.

Also worth nothing that AGL energy prices are likely going to increase fairly significantly in July 25 based on their history with this kind of stuff

    • Lol just signed up with them.

    • Who should we switch to for energy?
AGL had the lowest rates last year and they gave us a discount last month right before the election.

  • Does this require a credit check upon application?

    • Probably as most providers do a back ground checks on you, that you are not aware off. That is they don't ask you to fill in a application form to apply for Credit. Most companies have access to a credit data base. So if your credit stinks, they will know about it.

  • Thanks I thought that might be the case. My credit is fine, just trying to reduce credit enquiries on my credit history.

  • I was contacted by agl staff and was told that agl uses the same NBN provider as superloop. Can anyone double confirm this?

    • The five-year, exclusive contract is expected to generate more than $30 million in revenue over its term and will see the AGL switch its backhaul arrangements to Superloop.

      Article.

Can someone who has recently joined AGL nbn please post a traceroute. Redact your IP.

      • Does this also apply to Southern Phone since they are AGL owned?

        • I don't know. Someone using Southern Phone has to post a traceroute to confirm.

  • If you're with CommBank try More. I got their 6 month offer a while back when it first started, and when I put through a cancellation request at the end because I was churning to AGL for this deal, they ended up giving me a 12 month deal to stay with them. I suspect they will keep giving me deals to stay. Haven't had any congestion issues or dropouts with More (I'm in Sydney on HFC) so happy to stay with them.

  • Are people needing to give Superloop 30 days notice to cancel?

    • Yeah you gotta call them and ask for them to waive the 30 day notice, sounds like most people are successful, I also got mine waived. FYI the online chat can't do it, you have to call them.
