Still waiting for my previous gift card, having switched in February 2025.

    • Make sure you check junk/spam folders, mine always get flagged.

"As per the offer terms, the gift card must be activated or claimed within 30 days from the date of issue"

I still haven’t received my cashback, it’s been 2.5 years. I’ve contacted both ShopBack and Econnex multiple times.

      • +3

This deal has nothing to do with dodgy shopback

I also never received mine. I bet they pocketed the referral fee from the electricity company though.

    • same haven't received yet either

      • Thanks, this helped me find mine from last November, which had been sent 2 weeks ago.

    • Yes Still waiting for mine from 14/03/2025

    • +1

Up to 120 days from connection date so you could be waiting another month.

Combine with Powershop to get additional credits Electricity for VIC (200) Gas for VIC 50

    • How to reach that !please tell me more

    • Make sure you choose the plan that has the credits!
I stupidly clicked through but then chose the plan that was best, lost the credits 😭

    • How ? Explain please

    • This's from Powershop when I sign up

A one off $200(Incl. GST) sign up credit will be applied to the usage and supply charges on your first electricity bill. The credit cannot be refunded, transferred or redeemed for cash.

So I need to use it up before transfer away ?

    • I hate powershop for direct debit or credit card payment. I prefer to pay by other methods.

      • Just moved away from Powershop in April, can we go again and get the credit?

        • Yes you can. I tried in Nov 2024 and successful.

          • @AnyFurtherDiscount: To confirm, you rejoined within month and they honored the welcome credit?

My gift cards from late January came through a week or two ago without any prompting in case anyone is looking for a positive story. Pretty much right at the 120 day mark.

I am still with both the electricity provider (Engie) and internet provider (Dodo) if that is relevant. Will likely churn again on this deal now though.

    • My gift card from late January hasn’t come through yet. Past the 120 day mark for me currently.

  • +7

    'You (“Customer”) may receive'
A little concerning that you 'may' not receive the MasterCard

    • +2

It's because they often don't honour their offer, plenty of negative comments in their previous deals

      • +1

I've transferred my utilities via Econnex three times and all the times, they sent me the gift cards on time. I also have recommended Econnex to my friend and he received the gc on time too.

Econnex is legit as far as I concern.

      • +2

I had the same issue, now when i switch,i simply give them a call to confirm whether the offer has applied correctly or not

  • Good timing. I'm bang on the 30 day period for the previous Econnex offer.

    • My 45 days ends 1 July :(

Wonder if the cooling off period/signing up period would mean I’d be with my old retailer for long enough

    • for the past few deals the minimum is 45 NOT 30 (changed after Jan) so may be worth to check if its 30 for yours rather than losing it.

      • Definitely 30 days for me.

  • i read a condition in one of their previous deals that current customers who switched a utility using econnex aren't able to claim this deal, but does anyone know if that applies between services? e.g. i changed electricity using econnex but not internet, so if i change internet now will i get $100 gc?

    • +2

I see nothing in the t&c for this deal to disqualify customers moving from one Econnex deal to this one?

  • Switching NBN provider - do you guys also get charged with a 'New Development' fee of $300 at the checkout page?

    • +6

I may be wrong but 300$ will not be charged to you as you are already connected to a provider. Its normally charged by first provider on New builds or property that wasnt connected to NBN

      • That's right.

  • +1

awesome, just used up my engie welcome credit for gas account

  • +1

Thanks OP! If I switch away before the end of my current billing cycle with Energy Australia (signed up with $200 welcome credit), do they have a right to cancel this welcome credit or are they obliged to provide this?

    • I am in the exact same situation. Energy Australia will not do monthly bill so i have not have a bill from them, my switch confirmation email from econnex is 12th April and welcome email from Energy Australia is 15th April. So my 45 days mark should be now.
Did you check your usage with Energy Australia? I switch from the 12th but the calculated from the beginning of the month April, and my previous provider only charge me until end of March instead of until 11th of April.

      • In the same boat, I switched around 13th April and got the welcome email on 15th but the welcome pack said I got switched on the 1st April, so should technically be 45 days past. Usage is around $100 so far. My only concern is whether EA will honour the $200 welcome credit if I switch away before the first bill…

        • My usage is almost $300 now for 2 months so it is time to go, hope the $200 welcome is applied. I might call them to confirm

          • +1

@bargainfinder: Yeah fingers crossed. Hopefully they honour it. Let me know what they say if you do call them

  • I’m on the Gold Coast 4221 don’t have solar currently. Anyone recommend me an Electricity provider to go with? Currently with AGL

    • +2

https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au is a good resource to check which provider would be the best for your personal usage/post code. They calculate savings based on your bill or you if you have stayed more than 12 months in your property you can provide NMI and they come up with numbers based on your usage for the full year. Run by Govt so no shady business from third parties like meerkat man…

      • Thank heaps

I just found out that AGL charged me a daily supply rate for 9 days when we had no power whatsoever due to cyclone Alfred here on the Gold Coast. Checked with our friends who are also with AGL down the road and they too were charged this daily supply rate.

Wonder how many people they did this too and how much money they made out of this cheeky mistake wink wink

Rang them and was on the phone for 30odd minutes and finally got it fixed and a “sorry for that”

        Kinda makes you wonder hey

        • no worries. yeah they like to be cheeky like that. Best to vote with your wallet!

  • Just received gift card from January promotion. How soon can I do it again?

  • +5

Have received the gift cards for the 21 Jan offer about 2 weeks ago. Got both energy and gas gift cards.
I received a call and an SMS when the gift cards were sent.

You can also reach out to the OzBargain user Manyo if 3-4 months have passed and enquire what the status is

  • +2

Can I use it to switch plans with the same electricity company? Looks like they got some better rates than what I'm currently on.

  • Can we combine it with cashbacks like Topcashback or Shopback?

  • Got my $100 GC last year for switching NBN.

  • My 45 days is up on Sunday!

If I sign up Sat night I assume connnectionwont occur til next week at the earliest and I will be ok for the prior offer one?

    • +1

sort of similar situation. I have seen some providers take billing rights from the application date, i would think all the billing rights should be handed after the cooling off period only (generally 10 working days)

  • +1

i am already agl gas, can i switch to AGL again?

  • +1

why do they need driver license details to swtich?

  • Anyone know a way to get gas switched more frequently than once every 3 months?

    • +4

Nope gas switching is extremely slow and the meter is read every 3 months, so it can only be switched then

    • You can use the 'Gas Meter Mate' app to submit your meter read which may trigger the switch

  • +3

This is getting harder to track lol….awaiting electricity from Feb and April sign up and internet from May sign up…

  • +1

Do the gift cards from gas and electricity arrive separately?

  • NBN options are very limited. Shopback have regular upsized cashback on these.

    • +2

You also probably don't want to be churning to Superloop with their 30 day notice rubbish if you're going to be chasing these $100 deals regularly.

      • Already on super loop so not very many options except say swoop And no idea how good they are

        • +1

I just churned away from Superloop so I can start taking up these offers. I have sort of been with Swoop before. I was with "MooseMobile" which is owned by Swoop, and it was exactly the same as Superloop for me. I had no issues.

The price at Moose is actually better than Swoop $65.80 for 100/20, but they aren't part of these cashback offers, so you don't get the $100 cashback, otherwise I would just go with them.

          https://moosemobile.com.au/nbn/

The current Amaysim offer is also excellent…..$45 for 245/22, but it's only for 2 months.

My gas switch has just passed 45 days, but I haven’t received my latest gas bill yet. Can I still switch? What happens if I switch before my first gas bill is generated?

    • +1

Same doubt - I received the promo from Engie, but I haven't received the prepaid Mastercard even though it's been more than 45 days. I'm not sure if switching now would void the Mastercard

  • does business connection count?

  • +2

There’s a concurrent deal that only requires 30 days connection. Better deal for gas connection via here?

  • +2

How does everyone churn these plans for gas? It takes so long for them to do a meter read to make it official?

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

Moved gas a few days ago.

    Today moved NBN.

Looks like Swoop is the cheapest option.

Any notification of termination required with Swoop, like 30 days?

  • Terms and conditions specify that connection must be made within 45 days, otherwise no gift card will be provided. I too have passed 45 days now for gas (electricity and NBN switch done). Called existing retailer and they are doing a special gas meter read next week (out of schedule) but am afraid I am now ineligible for the gift cards.
Similar concerns like many others here - can any experienced churners advice? Thanks.

    • Youre best not trying to optimise churning gas on this deal. Just wait for your first quarterly bill, then jump on the next sign up promo.

    • +1

I couldn't find this condition in the latest offer. Am I missing something? All I can find is that if you don't stay connected for 45 days after activation that you will not get the gift card. Can you point me to where it mentions this in the latest offer?

      • "When the request for a switch or connection cannot be completed, is unsuccessful, or a request is made for the cancellation of your Electricity Plan and/or Gas Plan within the first 45 days from the date of activation, you will not be eligible to receive any Card. There may be additional fees charged to the Customer by the chosen retailer in these events."

In my case my gas the new retailer I signed up for said existing retailer has not released my gas account as the meter has not yet been read, something about it being done every 90 days. Have booked a out of cycle meter read next week but might be too late.

So I am likely missing out on a large chunk of the GCs.

Is it true my credit score takes a hit every time I churn electricity and internet??

    • +1

No, they don't typically affect your credit score unless they run a hard enquiry when you sign up.

  • Can u take advantage of this if im moving into a new apartment?

  • Stay away Econnex, they are liars! Applied provider switch via Econnex in late Nov promotion last year. Did not receive the gift card. Contacted them and received following reply!

We’re writing to confirm that we’ve received your application under reference ID 17397xxxxx, submitted on 29/11/2024, for switching your gas provider through the standard Econnex portal. Please note that this switch was not linked to any promotional offer, which is why no gift cards were associated with your application.

However, we’d like to make you aware of some ongoing promotional offers that may be of interest to you, valid until 31st May 2025.

Also noted they pay for good reviews. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/906854
They should be banned from Ozbagain!

  • How long does it take for NBN (HFC) to switch over?
