I had the sennheiser momentum 2 headphones for years and thought they were great for air travel. Then I got these Bose ultra comforts… they are on a totally different level. I land at the destination not even feeling like I’ve gone anywhere.

This was $199 at some point last year. Not sure if we will ever come close to that price level again.

It was a price error, it won’t happen again. I got two back then, great headphones can’t do without it now

      • damn, i was wondering if people actually received their orders or got cancelled then. I had just missed out on that deal when i came across it.

Bose honoured that price error, I got it delivered for 198.95$

      Agree. It was this deal:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/884529

But I guess was a price error that was honored by Bose, so definitely was a bumper deal for those who were able to purchase. However, except the above $199 deal, this is more or less the lowest price. Unfortunately Bose doesn't allow first order 10% discount coupon or $40 student discount coupon from Studentbeans to stack with price match else price could be reduced further.

  • I have the QC45's. I 'upgraded' to these and ended up selling them and going back. I didn't notice a huge sound difference and they were much more uncomfortable for me. I do have a massive head and big ears so that may just be a me problem.

    • 100%, I do prefer the 45s than the Ultras for travel but for day to day usage I do prefer my Ultras/Sonos Ace

    • I guess Ultra are better for Noise Cancelling and making calls as per most reviews.

    • Good to know. I was considering the ultra for my autistic teen but he won't tolerate anything that doesn't feel the same. He has two pairs of QC45s but one of them is automatically lowering the volume to zero. They of course ran out of warranty 4 days ago :(

      • You'd be surprised Bose will still honour repairs outside warranty sometimes… Just submit a case using their website.

      • Have you tried contacted Bose? I find they've always been great with this kind of stuff, even if out of warranty.

    • similar story, somehow QC felt higher quality to me, despite using simpler materials. and more comfortable too

returned ultras and went back to QC

    • Needed to hear this, thanks.

    • Still have mine but the comfort is not the same. The cushions are still the same garbage material that requires you to swap it out after 12 months.

  • Sennheiser Momentum 4 is much better option -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/908388

    • Definitely not a bad option. Depends as Bose are better for Noise Cancelling and making calls as per reviews. But if someone is on budget and only after listening to music, Sennheiser Momentum 4 is definitely not bad.

      • sound-wise which one is better btw?

        • Sennheiser has a better sound than Bose Ultras. I have both, Bose great for Noise Cancelling sound with Sennheiser

          • @AirJordan23: interesting… even in the days of QC35 Mk1, the Sennheiser Momentum at the time were already better sounding than QCs.

            • @meong: Out of the three headphones that I have, as I also own a Sonos Ace. Sonos has a better sound profile than the Bose Ultras and Sennheiser.

              • @AirJordan23: Profile can be subjective dont you think?

Back then i had QC35 mk1 and comparing to the first Sennheiser Momentum Wireless, the Senny sounded more spacious and i could hear separations better.

I also tested the latest QC and i think they've improved a lot but not sure if the Momentum 4 also improved much.

                • @meong: Yeah YMMV, try it instore if you can so can compare all three

I saw Coles has 15% extra value loaded for myer gc?

    • Great reminder, piled into Coles & bought some. Also managed to get Myer to match the $399 price on Lunar Blue (advertised at $552) so ended up with a black pair & a blue pair for $345 each.

      • Great work 👍🏻

      • how did you get them to price match the Lunar Blues?

        • Just asked if they would match the price as they are same product just different colour - manager said yes. YMMV.

Does this stack with the 20% cashback offer on Amazon currently?

    • It should. Can’t see why not. But only up to the capped amount

  • Fk Myers, Amazon all the way

I have a pair and theyre amazing, I can sleep with them on the over night flights, couldnt say the same about my Airpods Max. Would recommend the Ultras 10/10, if you want a little more comfort in a memory foam, look up Wicked Cushions

  • Anyone got any recommendations for flight Bluetooth adapters?

  • Damn, just bought my pair a couple weeks back. Great headphones, highly recommend!

    • From where did you buy? May be check if they have a price guarantee policy and you might be eligible to get a refund.

      • Amazon. Dunno if they'll refund the difference but I can certainly try

        • If you are still within the return window you can always return and order again. Amazon does allow that even if you have opened and used the item. But make sure to send all the packaging etc.

  • My QC45s have a random intermittent 'static' noise sometimes. Anyone experience similar, or know if the ultras have similar?
