holy cow, this price should let you connect to starlink without extra hardware

    • This price should send u to space for about a minute or two XDDD

  • cool thank you :) can't see any other differences

  • This must be the Netgear x Jenson collab..

Gosh, for that money I would be rolling out a few Ubiquiti U7 Pro Max AP's and a cloud gateway fibre.

    • Yup, you can get 2 x U7 Pro WiFi7 and and UDM-x or gateway fibre and it heaps faster and more coverage then overpriced Netgear.

More coverage is questionable because this kit has 3 WiFi units. Also, it has 1 dedicated band for wireless backhaul (hence quad band) whereas with 2 x U7 Pro, assuming you can't run them wired and put them in mesh equivalent mode, will have to share bandwidth.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer U7 Pro + UCG-Fiber, but that's because I am able to run wired setup. Furthermore, with 2 x U7 Pro, at least one 2.5Gbps PoE+ injector is required if you use UCG-Fiber. U7 Pro's do get warm and also wishing for 2 x U7 Pro XG instead. Also, Ubiquiti quotes WiFi 7 speeds for USA region (but in Australia 240MHz 5GHz band is currently prohibited).

+1. UniFi is a better and cheaper option for those who have Ethernet wiring, but Orbis are a far better choice for those who don't. When I switched from an Orbi AX4200 mesh to a setup with 2× U7 Pro and a UCG, I ran a wireless uplink test between the U7 Pros, they were less than half the speed of my then 3 year old Orbis. These new Orbis are quite a bit faster than the ones I had, so I'm confident they'll be faster than even the U7 Pro Max if linked wirelessly.

Need a lot of reasons to justify the price.

While $2,000 is a fair amount of money for a mesh system, the price can sometimes be justified if you don’t have Ethernet wiring at home and can’t add it or doing so is prohibitively expensive, but still want gigabit speeds throughout your home. I was once quoted over $2,500 to add three Ethernet ports to the ground floor of my two-story house, because of the layout, suddenly $2,000 doesn’t seem all that bad.

The strong point of these routers is their insanely fast wireless backhaul. There are only a few other routers that can perform as well or better, and they are just as expensive (e.g., ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12).

    • I'd be pretty tempted to just run some fibre down the stairwell ngl

    • This is my reason for looking at it. I live in an apartment and have a Server/Media Centre that is running to the outside world so fast backhaul makes it look quite attractive.
