Did the last 40% cashback and didn't even get $20 on over $113 spend. Dont expect the full 40%

Hi Ron, I understand your concern regarding the cashback amount. The approved cashback of $20 reflects the actual commission we received from Temu, and sometimes the final amount may differ from the initially advertised rate. If you need further clarification or have any additional questions, please let me know and I’ll be happy to assist.

the final amount may differ from the initially advertised rate

Sorry I think this needs to be reported to Consumer Affairs.

I don’t think it’s the consumers problem why it happens, it’s still false advertising.

Even worse, if that email is legit, to me it sounds like Cashback are acknowledging they know the advertised cashback amount is likely to not be accurate, yet they continue to advertise it.

JB would be in trouble if they continually advertised products having cashback whilst knowing the manufacturer are likely to not actually provide the advertised cashback amount.

This isn’t a deal, it’s basically a competition where you may or may not get cashback for some random amount.

    • That's illegal

    • Comment @gotyourback ?

    • Did you forget to clear your cart?

  • Exactly what I told them and waiting for an agent to contact me . Only just found this out this morning. I have copied the whole chat

I’ve posted this same comment previously but would like to make sure people know what they are getting into.

Good luck getting any cashback from ShopBack during a upsized Temu. Customer service will not be helpful either. Had a terrible experience which has resulted me in taking 95% of my business elsewhere after many years.

Didn’t get the upsized cashback last and only time. Temu lost a customer

    • +2

      Nah, they lost a spy.

  • +9

The irony that everyone ‘wins’ on the Temu raffle wheel, but seemingly always ‘lose’ on cashbacks.

  • +8

    Temu is a big scam.

  • 50% on Cashback for new user

  • +2

For me it was a win both times. First one was like 80% for new customers. In the last 40% I took cashback gamble and got it back - said that it confirmed 50 days early. Can share shopback history if anyone interested
Not defending or anything, just sharing that not everyone looses and has issues. Just follow directions, dont use any of Temus discounts in the cart and only buy something that you would get anyway, so shopback is a bonus

  • Shopback has been so hopeless lately. Got over 20 approved transactions showing $0.00 cashback where I can actually see the correct spend amount tracked but can't find any reason why they calculated a $0.00 cashback. Customer service expects me to provide invoice for every single one!

I’m really confused if this is user error or people just have settings set to not track.

I’ve used SB for a long time and never had so many issues as most commenters, and I imagine many others also don’t comment if they don’t have issues.

I use a dedicated browser with all the tracking/cookies permitted just for SB/CR/TCB and have at most 1-2 issues per year which I feel is pretty acceptable. And my total SB cashback is in the realm of >9k.

Also, banner says 50% cashback during flash sale.

    • Yeah, but with Temu?

      • +1

Depends on expectations. Similar to Aliexpress I think there’s tax amount discrepancies after internal sales amounts.

$60.44 purchase, tracked as $51.16 with 50% cb for $25.58.

        • Just adding TCB Temu Cashback tracked.

$67.01 purchase tracked as $57.28 with $22.91 cashback. (40% rate)

The tracked amount is 85% again of the actual purchase. This is clearly a Temu issue and not SB/TCB/CR.

I have had other problems with shopback, but Temu tracks every time for me with them (and it doesn't at topcashback, as much as i prefer their customer service).

My April order was from this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/902729 tracked as expected, and already confirmed and available to withdraw, which was pleasantly surprising. It has a little message in the app saying Confirmed early!

when clicking the redirect link pointing to Temu in Shopback page, got error saying "Sorry, only new users can get this coupon."

will this error affect the tracking?

    guess this is expected……

    • Just tried like you and got the same message (I am not a new customer).

People Beware, have now been warned if you read this or above comment!

    • -2

Same here. Literally get a warning from clickthrough…. and we are meant to expect they will honour it. Shopback are highly unreliable/untrustworthy these days.

      • This is only for the “30% extra discount off $39 for new users” coupon, which you wouldn’t be eligible for unless a new user.

        • -1

Should not have anything to do with it. And if it does its shopbacks fault for poorly managing their content inserting a code in links they should not.

          • @Xizor: Well my friend who was new to Temu didn't get it but I did. I see direct correlation in this message. And in what way does a coupon invalidate 50% cashback? It clearly states in the T&C's that it doesn't, and you're just doing cashbacks wrong.

  • 52% for ShopBack plus.

  • Do separate purchases all get cashback or limited to one purchase only?

  • what product/s is temu good at? happy to try as a new customer

    • Anything you see in Kmart or Bunnings that is made in China, you can usually buy direct from China cheaper.

It's a frustrating website to shop on, but is cheap.

    • Anything not electronic.

  • We can't use default coupon in Temu as well right?

  • Not enough time, the wrong time .. and the earlier "$20 will have to do instead" comment..

    It's a 3 flag no from me.

  • In case of any doubt, my purchase at the end of the CB period (~5:40pm) has tracked as of 10 minutes ago.

$102.68 purchased tracked as $87.52 for $45.51 in cashback at 52%.

Seeing a strong 15% reduction from actual order value vs tracked value across all cashback sites, must be Temu.
