  • Oh can i connect to mobile phone usb c port with this? To play vodeos

      Yes you can

      • Thanks man,

Is it normal for these things to be too hot to touch even without activity just plugged in

    • This is the one. Having said that I still bought 2x 256GB previously because everything else about it is good.

    • Why do people constantly ask if these things get hot, any drive transferring data will get hot. And by hot i mean, its not going to burn your house down. I have had a tonne of these and transfer massive amounts of data and hot, they do not get, warm at best. If your grabbing this drive and then running to the sink to gush cold water over your fingers, then i would say its not the drives fault.

      • I literally said "without activity" and you respond with "any drive transferring data will get hot"

        • No, you literally said 'Is it normal for these things to be too hot to touch? You also added 'even without activity'

Maybe you should have asked, If there is no activity on the drive, does it still get hot? Or left out the word even.

          • @BatmanAU: So you just cut off the sentence for no reason EVEN though there's no comma just to fit your narrrative, I didn't add anything you delusional cardboard, that was one full sentence without edit.

and you still don't get it, I didnt ask IF it gets hot, I'm saying It DOES get hot while idle and im asking if that's normal.

@UnlimitedColdSweet: No, it was a very poorly worded question and i answered it how it was poorly asked.

At no point in your poorly worded question, does it turn into a statement. Where on gods green earth do you say it DOES get hot?? Let me copy your question here to allow you to review it for, as you say, "Im saying it DOES get hot"; "Is it normal for these things to be too hot to touch even without activity just plugged in". Hmm nope, cant see anywhere where you mention 'It does get hot".

Anyway, enjoy your evening. Oh and delusional cardboard, is that like an insult? If so, explains a lot

  • Does Officeworks pricebeat online Amazon sellers?

  • If you’re looking for high speed transfers this is not the best. I am pretty disappointed with mine and found better options in a similar price range.

Convenient size/design and probably fine for most doing occasional transfers.

    • Do you want to highlight your alternatives please.

      • https://amzn.asia/d/cTA9viy $10 more (exc price beat)

        • Thanks

        • That is an SSD with its own problems such as dramatically slowing down once you have some data on it. Read the review on Amazon by FromOZ

          • @Grok: Granted this is not apples to apples, but in my personal experience the SanDisk performs very poorly. I have not seen it get anywhere close to advertised speeds.
Just sharing my experience, ymmv depending on use case.

    • Good point. Sandisk Ultra range of USB flashdrives are not their high speed range, you need their Extreme / Extreme Pro range.

      • Their new(ish) Extreme Pro Dual Drive is very good. But also very expensive and difficult to find in Aus.

Personally I cannot fault the Silicon Power. Perhaps that it can block adjacent USB ports if I’m being picky. This of course depends on the device you’re connecting it to. But for the price it is a solid choice if you value speed, connector choice and connector protection.

        • With a $15 discount the Silicon Power 1TB becomes $97. Very tempting.

          • @try2bhelpful: Doesn’t the 15% discount make it $112.12

            • @Grok: The 15% discount does but I had an additional $15 redeem.

    • Absolutely SSD has its own use, however this js a flash drive which you can keep on your key ring all the time.

The SP SSD is literally twice the size
      80.95 x 21.3 x 10.4mm vs 44.41mm x 12.1mm x 8.6mm

  • Can you use these for media on TVs? I'm sure the advice the last time I was looking (years ago) was that portable hard drives were better than thumb drives.

  • What do we think about this Silicon Power 500GBalternative for an extra $9 and 5-6 times the read/write (advertised) speed?

I realise it's SSD but not that big really.

  • Get a Hynix x31 or t31. Much better.
