This is from Lenovo Outlet and great value as it is NOT refurbished (marked as "NEW"). Yoga Slim 7i features premium build (metal chassis for better heat dissipation) / thinner and lighter than usual (1.35kg) / large battery (65Wh) / 1920 x 1200 60Hz OLED.

Not crazy specs but considering the quality of Lenovo Yoga + Ultra 5 125H + 14" OLED screen + large battery, the price is very reasonable.

Same spec but different part number at Officeworks for $1097:
https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-14-…
(Don't think OW will price match, but anyone with success please update here)

Alternative laptop: Acer Swift Go EVO $968
https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-swift-go-evo-14-inch-ul…

It is +$120 with better OLED. Personally I prefer Lenovo Yoga for better build quality (i.e. last much longer). I also prefer Lenovo lower resolution for longer battery life.

Good deal but that's just $200 lower compared to Officworks. Not a 55% off.

Jack first label big discount later… that's the Lenovo's way

not sure why you've got some negs, you're telling the truth!

Bought one, thanks was looking for a lappy. Looks like a reasonable price for a well built unit.

    • Is the screen glass covered, I looked up online and I think the non-touch and touch version seem pretty different, the non-touch seems more like a matte display from the pictures online, not a glossy display ?

      • +1

Just received mine today via DHL. The screen is non-Touch and is glossy panel.

  • OOS

    • dont think so.. just placed an order

    • there is another SKU that is the same spec and price.

    • +2

Seems to keep cycling in and out of stock. Got one after trying about 29 times 😊

  • Got the aura 15' version with upgraded ram and resolution for almost double the price. Now feeling like a fake deal due to outlet got no cashback, rewards, or free bag.

    • I need bigger than 14" screen hence took a gamble and scored their 'certified refurbished' Aura Ed. for just $1169 few days ago, still waiting for it to ship, hope not come with scratches, dents or greasy shiny keyboard …

Anyone bought from outlet refurb and can comment their quality please? As I only bought one new laptop from their outlet before.

      • Dammit, I think I saw this one on the outlet late Thursday night. By the time I refreshed in the morning it was gone. I knew it'd be some keen ozbargainer! Let me know how it ends up because it looked like an epic price!

      • Looks like exact same specs except slightly diff part number. Mine is 83HMXA05WW for $400 extra. They ripped me off. I was short in time and pulled.

I remembered there were some decent deals for 32GB laptops before but they were very limited in number like 1 or 2 and very quick.

        • Hangon, wasn't yours 'New'? My one is 'Refurbed', so can be a BIG difference … As no one here ever gave comment about their refurbed stock, I guess no way will get Apple level of quality which looks sparkling as brand new.

          • @kaikor: Also refurbed but maybe as new. I remember it was close to 2k new and over now.

But I wish I got it for $1.3k and less but..

            • @bcYield: ok, so how was the condition of yours? original box no damage and laptop like brand new no scratches or marks on it?

          • @kaikor: Let us know when you get yours

            • @bcYield: Sure I will, hope i dont need to return it becoz of sh|ty condition or issues, saw same display one at my local JB hifi today, official they not selling this anymore, so I asked them how much they can sell the display one listed $2699 LOL to me? He said will take $100 off WTF !!! I showed him lenovo online only $2099 and he said can't match!

              • @kaikor: Mine comes with no box anything, looks new with little mark on the logo, might be wiped off not sure yet. Updating still. Bit disappointed with the price I paid for but definitely a bargain for you if you receive similar. Yeah local stores like JB and HN always ask for a lot more on high spec Lenovo laptops.

                • @bcYield: wow, no box anything? arrived in bubble wrap inside a satchel bag? but at least with original charger, right? now making me a bit worry …

                  • @kaikor: Yep pretty much but it looks new tho. I'd guess mine were one of those who returned and paid $400 for me for so called refurbished.

                    • @bcYield: Did yours take a while to get shipped? I bought on 5th and today still showing waiting to ship status, I bought new one there before and got shipped right next day, wonder if its not from local warehouse?

                      • @kaikor: Same it took 4-5 days to ship but once it shipped it was fast. I had also gone on the live chat to check.

                        • @bcYield: Bloody lenovo shifted shipping date, now moved to 12th, whole week after I bought they still can't ship? Making me want to cancel the order now …

                          • @kaikor: I ordered the "NEW" one over the long weekend and it was shipped yesterday via DHL Express. I am sure I will receive it today very soon. Not sure why refurbished model took much longer though…

                            • @brich1980: Yeah i suspect refurb stocks coming from elsewhere not in sydney or even from overseas

                        • @bcYield: OK finally after stupid DHL running late and cancelled my morning delivery, it arrived late afternoon, it came inside a no brand box with lenovo tape and laptop just inside one of those water bed thick style bubble bag, with the charger and cable tied up in a messy way, can tell charger is used for sure, got a super tiny dent around 1 of the edge. The laptop itself looks brand new with no marks or scratches at all, will set it up and see how it goes.

                          • @kaikor: Great to hear you got an almost new laptop except the boxing things… similar to mine tho I paid for $400 extra ;( rip me.

                            • @bcYield: Yeah but not happy they just threw in a used charger, can see MFD is 2023, sure its damn old used from the condition.

                              • @kaikor: Checking my charger it says Dec 2024 so that they charged extra for that and not little extra …

                                • @bcYield: ok seems when the battery is full only displaying 98% ??? not 100% so is this normal or something wrong? laptop battery report came back only 8 cycles done.

                                  • @kaikor: Battery should show 100% to be normal. Haven't checked mine yet. I'd contact them if it isn't fully charged after like some charges

thanks, bought one for office use, very decent spec for this purpose.

I got the "alternative laptop" 5 months ago with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/886250

It's pretty nice! Can't comment on longevity but seems fine.

Back then the Lenovo wasn't such a great price.

    • +1

Personally I would avoid Acer as it is always a cut-price budget brand using cut-cost material.

      • +1

Got Acer with better screen, cpu and running for 18 months no problems at all, full allum chassis, worth the cost though I agree it might not feel premium or thinkpad solid. Would not trade it for yoga at the same price as Acer is better value but each to their own.

    OOS

  • I've been scarred by an overheating acer swift go 14 AI Ryzen 7 8845hs from officeworks sooooooooo what to do what to do xD

    • +2

This deal is Lenovo not Acer

      • My original plan was to buy a lenovo so might look into that.

Only currently have a lenovo x13 yoga gen 1 which i got secondhand butttt that's not a good thing for me to base my opinions off since it's battery on that is cooked haha.

        • You are talking about something from 5 years ago when CPU makers did not care about laptop power efficiency.

    • -1

They could have avoided the issue but Acer is a budget brand with less sophisticated product design.

      • I tested the ryzen 5 model for a good 30-50 minutes in person but obviously couldn't run any intensive software so was disappointing to find the premuim metal quality of ness to not be that great after all .

Like watching youtune videos or something or even yes if i do something intense can't exactly have it on my lap it heats up to the point of pain, even parts of the keyboard.

        • +3

I think you are unrealistically asking too much from Ryzen 5.

Personally I am pursuing great display + excellent power efficiency over the performance and I think many people in the same boat for day-to-day business use. I have been checking Snapdragon X range with superb-long battery life but its price point is still stubbornly high for what it can offer (in terms of native ARM softwares portfolio).

The real deal of this Yoga Slim 7i is a good balance of performance / power efficiency (Intel EVO) / weight / build quality / screen quality and last but not least the price. I think OW price $1097 is still a fair price for people looking for an above average laptop with excellent build quality and long battery life, while it is certainly a bargain for <$850.

Great BYOD deal. school kids from 2022 must be jealous of kids today getting OLED screens and 16GB RAM for less than they paid for their BYOD laptop that could barely play minecraft and had a 6 bit TN TFT display with 8GB RAM… for ~$1,000

  • +1

Just letting everyone know, 285H, 32GB Ram, 1TB is out in China for around $1200.

    • +2

yeah.. good luck telling mom and dad to pay $400 (50%) more for your school laptop.

Thanks for the heads up… I didn't even know there was an Lenovo Outlet!

    • +4

There is a Lenovo Education store too but normally Outlet has the lowest price for surplus or clearance stock. Just keep checking now and then for other short-lived but amazing deals.

      • Oh yes I purchased my first ThinkPad probably from the education store wayy back for uni… a T450s… almost 10 years ago!
I'll be sure to check out the outlet! I knew Dell had one but not Lenovo Australia.

  • +1

    Great job OP, thank you

  • Anyone know if Lenovo actually release additional units at the same price? I'm feeling hopeful with the "available soon" status on the site!

    • I received mine today and surprisingly it did not come in original sealed Lenovo laptop cardboard box. I was wondering if it was used or refurbished but the laptop and charger are obviously in brand new condition. I checked on Lenovo Outlet website for those conditions definition. I believe "new" means damage box, so they have to sell it at discounted price. It is similar to Sony TV / LG (on eBay) and Dell Outlet too. Anyway, what I am trying to say is, Lenovo Outlet is a place for selling refurbished items or "new" items not in perfect packaging condition. You can't wait for this model to restock as no one knows what would come next.

      • A bit surprise, last time I bought a 'NEW' one from outlet and really came brand new factory sealed box, but this time I bought a refurbed one, and will be deliver today finally (thats 7 days after I bought), let see what format it will arrive

      • Mine came in a lenovo box but it had clearly had some shipping stickers taken off it previously. Possibly a return?
Still sealed though by the looks of it..

  • FYI - received mine but when I went to check the warranty it was expired.
For those that bought, you should check.. mine says:

    Out of Warranty
    Expires in 2025-02-13

Just not sure how to contact them by email.. seems like its chat or phone on weekdays only…

    • Yeah mine is the same and it says the laptop serial number is NZ based i.e. not valid in Australia. I created a eTicket but yet to get a response but I am not too worried about it because it is their responsibility to fix it up for us and we should be entitled to 1 year (or 2?) warranty.

By the way, make sure you update the Windows and all softwares because it is missing a lot of current Intel drivers. The other thing I noticed is the OLED display quality is not what we see from iPhone or other premium Android phones. It has pretty bad color shift (blueish) from different viewing angles. I mainly use it for reading texts which is not great on OLED but can be fixed by adjusting Windows Cleartype Font. Still a great display (with Dolby Vision) but thought could be better. The sound system is surprisingly loud and clear. The Dolby Atmos surround sound effect works really well too. Battery life is really great too and the laptop runs really cool. All in all, no complaint for <$850.

Gonna buy this cheap Lenovo laptop sleeve w/ professional look to pair it up:
